o.o at 5? nerus gonna be a little late, but ill still be there for sure.

My apologies, I had actually intended for the gathering to be at 6, but this year organizers were asked to provide a time window as opposed to something more specific (at least, that's how I interpreted the instructions). Because of my panel at 8 pm, I couldn't really go earlier than a 5 to 7 window, and I guess we were given 5 pm. ^^;

Might actually be switching to Rainbow Dash, but it depends on my group. Either way, I'll be attending! If it's alright I'll also probably have Sac Brony Expo flyers available for anyone interested. (I'm their Head of Art and Design.)

Sorry, 5 pm! I misread the post. My bad! Finalized time is for sure at 5 pm.

Okay guys- just checked the gatherings list and it looks like our finalized time and place is Friday at 5:00 pm in location G6! Sorry for the confusion!

I think I've got it under control, but thank you! I ran this gathering for 2011 and 2012 and I have a couple of people to help at con, so I think I'll be alright. This gathering doesn't usually last more than an hour, so I should be fine. c:

Hi everyone! Sorry for the bit of inactivity- I was super super busy since I was recruited to do artwork for Equestria LA which was just last weekend, so now I have to rush to prepare for Fanime! I'll be updating the list shortly, but I want to confirm that assuming our timeslot is approved, it will be no later than 6 pm on Friday. I cannot budge on the time at all, as I want to avoid clashing with the other large gatherings and I have to check in for my panel (An Intro to Bronies) at 7:30, so I'll have to dash off almost immediately after the gathering ends. I apologize if this causes any inconvenience to you all!

Updated! About to send the gathering info to B; as in previous years, I think we'll be sticking with Friday at 6 pm.

So I have a bit of a question regarding wings! From what I already understand, they need to be able to fit through a standard doorway, which is about 6 feet tall. But what would the limit be on width? Also, how does width limit factor in if I were to enter through a doorway sideways? I plan on cosplaying Ultimate Madoka ( http://img.goodsmile.info/cgm/ecommerce/goodsmile/images/large/3d8a50a14769ee8200343b1ff9b63314.jpg ) and I'd like to make my wings as accurate as possible but still follow guidelines.

Apologies if something like this has been answered previously; I couldn't seem to find it.

Hoping to attend as Fionna; it depends on the finalized gathering time and my cosplay lineup and such, but I really hope to be there!

Hi again, everyone! Updated the first post a bit. If I missed any of you, feel free to let me know!

Can't say for sure just yet, but I'm hoping to attend again this year as Galloping Gala Pinkie! It really depends on how my cosplay schedule turns out, but I hope to see you all again this year!

Technically speaking, if a con-goer wanted to host this sort of event during Fanime, they could; but not on convention center grounds. It's a potentially chaotic event and with the obvious risk for injury (in the video there's clearly people doing dives and in one bit someone threw a prop foam sword at another...), it's very unlikely that this would be okayed by staff.

Another thing to keep in mind though is public image for the con; intentionally or not, it could possibly irritate non-congoers if it's not a properly contained event. I highly doubt someone not participating would appreciate being randomly hit by a nerf dart.

I actually had no idea about the certificates last year, as I'd never gotten mine. I was certainly pleasantly surprised this year when one was handed to me, though! B, out of curiosity you wouldn't happen to still have last year's by chance, would you? I can live without it, I'm just wondering. c:

Sounds awesome! Depending on whether or not I study abroad next Spring (if I do I won't be attending Fanime) I'd love to attend as Cardcaptor Sakura if things worked out. c:

I haven't noticed anything said about this yet (and quite frankly, trying to even skim through some of these walls of texts is a massive headache!) but I wanted to make a comment regarding the nazi-themed yaoi booth in Dealer's Hall. What the hell, guys? That's incredibly offensive! I understand that some are more sensitive to this sort of thing than others, and some people just don't give a damn at all, but I really don't understand why FanimeCon would allow that sort of merchandise to be sold at the con.

Thank you for bringing this up. While I was in the Artist Alley most of the con and didn't get a chance to see the Dealer's Hall, I am HORRIFIED to hear that something of such an offensive nature is allowed! My reaction is the same as yours: WHAT THE HELL? That is extremely, extremely offensive and I am so upset to hear Fanime let someone have a booth with something like that. It's a very real piece of history that affects many of us closely still, not a joke. It should not be allowed, period.

i can see how that would be disturbing to some people.

Just like
rape.
or MOE
and watching little girls get beat up/raped by monsters.
and just about every other fetish you could find that is so casually shown in anime/manga.
It's disturbing from the other side isn't it? Yah, welcome to our world.

I will say that making the 'Nazi' bit so easy to see-if it even was- is a bad idea.
I sure as hell didn't see it and I was looking at yaoi. Unless your referring to that ONE fanart ass Aizen dressed in a Nazi uniform. If that' the case...I don't even know how to respond.

Some guys do LOOK for these things so that they can bitch and try to get them banned. Just do what most woman and look the other way..oh wait When we do we're greeted with some other fetish.

Either everything is okay, or nothing is. You can't pick and chose just because YOU find something offensive.

Just to clarify, I do not think rape is okay, and I'm not really a fan of moe or tentacle porn (yuck). I'm not really sure how the sexual fetish realm intersects with the traumatic history realm (although rape is certainly traumatic and I do not condone anime viewings that perhaps contain this sort of content.) And I also don't "look for things to bitch about." If you like yaoi or yuri or hentai, hey, it's none of my business! I really don't care! And I actually had a fantastic Fanime; but I was disturbed by this booth in particular at both Fanime AND Sakura Con. But I digress.

I feel like there's a difference between anime viewings involving the above things you listed and the nazi booth. Hentai rooms require ID and more or less remain within that viewing room. The nazi themed booth sold items such as nazi-styled armbands that said "YAOI" or "SEME" or "UKE" etc that I saw con-goers wearing around and even outside of the con, potentially offending others who may or may not have been directly affected by the Holocaust. I believe that Fanime should be conscious that it is a family-friendly con and should not be allowing a vendor to encourage that sort of thing. The Holocaust is not something that should be turned into a joke.

Worth a shot!

There was a Big Macintosh cosplayer who was also Dirk Strider for the Black and White Ball; he'd probably recognize me as the Galloping Gala Pinkie Pie, since we shared a couple of dances at Ball. He had asked for my number but I didn't have my phone on me (nor had my number memorized) and I realized too late that I could've just given him my email or facebook or something. TAT; I really enjoyed his company that evening and would love to keep in touch. :3

Thanks for coming, everyone!! I hope you all had a great time; your cosplays were all fantastic! If anyone has photos to post, please post them. c:

Awesome gathering, it was so much fun to take photos with all of you! I second the idea of having some photographers crouch next year though; my girlfriend had trouble getting photos of me and the other two Gala Pinkie Pies while we were up there. D:

Oh, and I have a bit of an embarrassing question/request! I'm sure this is a long shot, but there was a Big Mac cosplayer who later cosplayed as Dirk Strider (at least I think he was Dirk; I haven't read Homestuck yet!) at the Black and White Ball. I'm just wondering if anyone here knows him (or if he's been in this thread?) who could possibly have him shoot me a message or something; I was the Galloping Gala Pinkie at the Ball. c: (Sorry, this is so embarrassing to ask. xD; )
