I'm very sorry you missed out on the applications, but unfortunately that also means you won't be able to get added to the waitlist or to another artists table. :( AA staff have changed the policy for adding new artists/table partners this year.

QuoteNo Combining Tables after Application

With the new processes we are implementing this year, the artists on a table cannot be altered after a table application is submitted. This enables us to streamline the application and selection process so that we can get decisions back to artists in a timelier manner. This also significantly eases the burden on AA staff post-selection and provides earlier replies to artists on our waitlist. However, this means that we are no longer able to offer the ability to add new artists to a table after an application is submitted. If an artist is not selected through the jury process, they will not be able to join another table.

Most often announcements for the Artist Alley are made via social media. If you're interested for next year, try keeping a close eye on the Fanime Facebook page and their Twitter.

Still waiting for a reply to see if I made it or not >.<

We asked about the status of our applications on the Facebook group and this was the answer we got yesterday:

"Our reviewers are still burning through the applications as fast as they can, unfortunately I don't have a time estimate for you guys, sorry! I sincerely doubt it will take to end of March to get it all done (barring any unforeseen complications) but I don't want to commit to an official timeframe so our reviewers don't feel rushed."

I think you may have Fanime confused with AX or another convention. Fanime hasn't announced or opened up AA registration yet. Table sharing is possible and you may still be able to find someone to apply with - but you may want to make sure you're checking the right forums. :)

They've stated before that you don't need registration to get a hotel this year, so if you're waiting to get the panelist deal you should be fine.

If your debit card has a Visa, Mastercard or similar logo on it, you won't get charged day of. I'm not sure about the rules with true "debit cards"; the ones that only have the word Debit printed on them and no major credit card logo. But the average bank card will get treated the same as a credit card.

The major difference happens at check-in when they'll charge or "hold" the entire amount owed for your stay when you arrive. So make sure you're not planning on floating the hotel through the weekend until you get paid or someone pays you back for a room. You'll find yourself overdrawn or without any available funds if you do that. Have the money for that set aside before you arrive.

Registration / Re: FANIME CON 2015

October used to be a fairly regular time for registration to open up. It's been a few years, but honestly I prefer as much time to prepare as possible. Kudos to staff for being on top of it. Keep the ball rolling? :D

It's sporadic and unfortunately gets pushed back every year closer and closer to the event date. They likely won't start making any announcements until after the new year. Just keep an eye on the forums and social media.

Artists only have access to their table number when we log into our accounts currently, there hasn't been an official release of a map yet. (Crossing fingers we get one soon?)

I thought the app was a great idea, to be honest. Even if the schedule wasn't the best feature, it was nice having all the Rover information and other emergency numbers so easy to access.

Any idea if the e-postcards have been sent?

Probably not until after the 13th since they're allowing individuals to merge their accounts into groups. That has to happen first.

There was actually a line in the email confirmation you recieved from Fanihousing talking specifically about that:

Quote"DO NOT CALL THE HOTEL DIRECTLY FOR CHANGES OR CANCELLATIONS UNTIL Friday, May 16, 2014. "

If you need to make changes, you need to be talking to CMR/Fanihousing until next Friday. After that, then you call the hotel directly.

If you're looking for a bit of a "prom" setting they've already got you covered with the Black & White Ball. :)

I don't ever remember seeing it as a thing but you might have better luck asking the Cosplay Gatherings department.  You can email them at: gatherings (AT) fanime (DOT) com

On the Facebook group, they confirmed it would be one week from the time the forum was made available. Not from the date they sent us the email of acceptance.

I'm having trouble advancing, is the AA agreement created yet?
if not, when will it be up?
Quote from: ewu on April 09, 2014, 03:02:39 AM
As we indicated we will be getting the agreement up soon. I do not have an estimate for you. There are some things that we are waiting for that are neither in our control nor easy to predict. Please hold on for more information.

I don't see anything wrong with it personally. But if you're ever curious about whether a piece would be acceptable, you can always email a copy directly to the AA department and they can give you a yay or nay.

What do you know. Just as I'm reading this forum, I get a text with a twitter post with multiple guest announcements. Looks like the site has moved away from the placeholder image too. THANKS FOR GETTING THIS UP! Seriously!!

What if someone was approved as an individual and wanted to add someone who was put on the waiting list (but could get a table in the lottery)? I would assume that would be ok. Not sure about adding someone who hadn't even applied though...

It's been stated before that the selection process isn't a lottery but a judging process so that all the people approved for tables meet a minimum level of quality. So if you asked to add someone from the wait list to your table I'm assuming it would be the AA staff's decision to either approve or deny the request based on the perceived "quality level" of their work and the rest of the work in the AA. It is a sliding scale however so that minimum bar will raise and lower based on the number of applicants, making it hard to make any assumptions at this point.

It might be best to email AA directly if you're worried though. Especially since none of the approvals have been sent out yet, we're all kindof in a limbo state as to what's going on until that happens.
