I've seen the Tagalog dubs of Bleach, Prince of Tennis, Hitman Reborn, and Toradora. I saw Sailor Moon in Tagalog years ago. The Bleach dub is pretty crazy and pretty cool. The top ten of Filipino Idol had recurring roles in the dub. Imagine Kelly Clarkson as Rukia and Clay Aiken as Ichimaru!

I love Rex and Dolphy too. I've seen Rex live a few times when I used to live up in the Bay Area. Dolphy is a huge part of my childhood and so was Rene Requistas (which I do have tons of material of him for this panel).

Good to see some interest for this panel. I'm thinking about renaming it "WowowWTF?! Filipino Entertainment." I think this would really fly at Fanime given that the demographic is very much Filipino and it ties in with Asian entertainment and geek culture since I do plan to show Tagalog dubbed anime clips and Filipino parodies of American super heroes. It's all for fun. ^^

Also a few clips from the live action rendition of Lupin III will be shown.

Since Fanime has had a long history of showcasing live action Asian entertainment, I thought this panel would be a great fit for Fanime Con. I've run this panel before as "Awesomely Bad Filipino Movies" at PMX. This is the panel shows clips from various Filpino media including anime dubs (sing along to the Sailor Moon theme - in Tagalog!), over the top action movies (Fernando Poe Jr, anyone?), laugh out loud to the comedy stylings of Dolphie, cringe at the over acting in soap operas and dramatic movies, root for PacMan as he goes up against a giant crab, pinoys so fabulous that they make bishies look like Kamina, and much, much more!

We had a great turn out at PMX wherein we had people (of all ethnicities) standing in the aisles laughing along to the clips shown.

If you have any suggestions of any clips or movies I should check out prior to Fanime, do let me know. This panel is all for fun and poking fun at the over the top entertainment that Filipinas has to offer.

Seconding Shinichi Watanabe. He's a cool guy that I had the honor of hanging out with at Anime Central for the reason that I was cosplaying as Fujiko Mine. Friendly guy with plenty of stories; a perfect fit for Fanime.

Michael Keaton as Ryuk. The man can do it.

I'm using a regular DV camera that I got back in 2000.

How do I import it as a DV stream? I run the version of iMovie that came with Tiger OSX. I could also use the newer iMovie that will let me upload directly onto YouTube at my school. Feel free to shoot me a PM. I would appreciate step by step instructions! ^^

Don't worry about hounding me. I've had the framerate issue since Anime Central. I know my dad had to use the camera while he was on vacation. Before that, I had no issue with the framerate in either iMovie or Avid Liquid. Help is very much appreciated!

The issue I had with the Marriott is that the elevators were too slow and too overcrowded. I was rooming with someone who is claustrophobic, so waiting for an elevator that could take us back to the room that did not have many people was nearly out of the question. I missed having a mini fridge though.

However, aside from the crazy elevators, I appreciated the Marriott's service. The maids were able to clean up our room in pristine condition. The bed was nice and soft. It was a pleasant experience staying in our room.

Yet, our deal breaker was the issue with the elevators. I think we'll go for the Hilton next year.

Someone mentioned the Lolita event on this thread. Was the Lolita event ever part of Fanime or was it separate from Fanime? I never saw it listed in the program. I only found out about it while I was exploring the Fairmont during the ball.

Yup, I'm going through the same!

Fanime went by way too fast. I've been to cons where time seems to go by really slow (ACen and Anime Expo), but I did have a good time at Fanime, but it feels like it just gone by like a split second. I miss it already. I miss my Bay Area buddies.

Yeah, it did feel much more crowded than previous years. I could hardly breathe in the main fountain area!

For whatever reason, my camera transfer to iMovie is being really weird on the frame rate. I'm not too tech savvy to figure this one out, but if anyone can offer solutions, I would very much appreciate it.
