I have a question...the last part of the photo shoot, you were using what appeared to be an older type of camera...was that a camera, or was that a Prop.  ???

It was a prop I made out of foam and some other materials  ;).  The camera it is modeled after is a Blackbird Fly (you can find them on Amazon and such) in the custom pink color Tsukasa uses in the series.

I would like to give a HUGE thanks out to all those cosplayers who showed up to the gathering.  The turn-out was better than what I expected  :D.  Also thanks to all the photographers who showed up as without you all of the cosplayers' hard work and crazy antics would not be able to be plastered all over the internet.  I hope that all the participants had as much fun as I did.  Time providing, I will be hosting this gathering again next Fanime.

Huh....why didn't I notice this one earlier  :-\.  Representing the live-action special-effects series I will try to make it as Tsukasa Kadoya from Kamen Rider Decade.

With Fanime right around the corner, a short update for everyone (including potential photographers):

I hope to have a sort of 'schedule' for this gathering to better organize the group photos.  As of this moment my idea consists of:

-Super Sentai group shot
-Kamen Rider group shot
-Super Sentai by series
-Kamen Rider by series
-All cosplayer photo

In order for this to take place, I would ask that everyone please try and stick around to the end of the gathering for the final photo shoot. 

Also to photographers: Please wait till the end of the gathering to take individual photos.  I understand that many might want to to get better shots of cosplayers by themselves away from the crowd, but please hold off until the end so that all cosplayers in the gathering will be around for the final shoot.

I'm sorry to hear that.  However I still hope to see you at the gathering to hang out with your fellow Kamen Rider fans (or maybe do a non-henshin form  ;) ).

Fanime is just over two (2) months away!  Oh boy it's coming in fast  :o.

With that said, I will be wanting to lock in a date and time for the gathering before too many spots are taken by other gatherings.  As of this post I am looking at:

Date: Sunday, May 30th
Time: 12:30pm
Location: 1FCC RS (I think is is the stage on the ground level of the Convention Center to the left side as you enter the main doors by the fountains).

If there is anyone that has conflicts with this, please post so I can see if it can be moved.  Otherwise I will submit the gathering to the main thread for the slot I listed above.

The cosplay list has been updated!

With Fanime creeping up upon us, it will be soon time that we picked a day and time.  But for now we need a location!  As action and henshin poses are a must with this gathering, outside of the convention center near the fountain is one option or the small stage just on the inside of the convention center (ground floor) is the other (as you enter, on the left side, straight across from the stairs that lead up to Center Stage).  Any preferences?

Looks like Nobuo Uematsu himself will be coming to the SF event.  They recently added info on the front page about tickets for the after-symphony SF reception where he will be present, along with autographed Distant Worlds CD as well as photo opportunities (it says to be sure to bring your camera to get pictures with Nobuo).  Tickets go on sale June 25th.

Yaoi Con did have something similar in concept on Sunday evening for their event.  Most of the males working the event (a.k.a. the Yaoi Con Bishounen) were dressed in their best (suits).  Last year's Yaoi Con also had them all dressed in suits for the Sunday brunch event (no stripping for that event :P).

Cosplay can be a costly hobby, especially when you are first starting and have limited experience (sewing and creative adaptions to defy anime physics).  Cheapest thing s really to buy pre-made clothing (i.e. Target, Macy's, thrift stores, etc) and modify them (Simon from Gurren Lagann where you can buy mostly everything and just need to mod the jacket with the logo) or cosplay someone that wears normal clothing (Akane Tendo from Ranma 1/2).  If you want to get a bit more advanced, prototype.  Buy some cheap fabric (on sale or muslin) and make the entire cosplay out of it.  This way you can try it on, check for areas what are too tight/loose, mark it up, etc without ruining the more expensive, final fabrics (though you need to take into account the final material might sit differently).

I'm from Hawaii but been living in Cali for almost 2 years for work after college (and it's so damn expensive to fly home...plus lack of vacation from work).  Haven't been the Kawaii Kon yet since it started RIGHT AFTER I left for college and it was always during midterms -_-.  Still have my 808 cell number >_>

yeah i checked out that website too but with fanime being next week and i don't have money at the moment i don't think i'll get the wig in time :[

Try and give them a call.  When I ordered my wig they were very helpful and rushed the order so I was able to get it before I left for a con.
