Still working on things, but it's been slower than I anticipated due to general slacking off and school work. But enough of that, here's the rough sketch of the Sailor Moon Mucha piece I'll be selling.

1. The big circles are going to have the other sailor scouts' faces in them in the style of Mucha's Ivy piece--basically a bust with flowers/leaves in their hair.
2. I had to give Usagi a little more meat on her bones to keep with Mucha's style :\ shoujo characters are seriously skinny. I tried to make it look more athletic than "curvy".

Nope, I found shrinky dink paper I can run through an inkjet printer. Granted, recreating a bunch of memorable (albeit hard to get a clear shot of sometimes) icons at 600 ppi was not the most fun I've ever had, but it's more efficient in the long run and it makes sure everyone is getting a quality item and not one of my screw-ups!

Just got my shrinky dink paper (already need more, of course...gotta find a place to buy in bulk!) and after many experiments, I think I've figured out the right size and baking time for my pins. here's a few preview shots:

I had to change the original designs slightly to make it easier to cut out and harder to screw up, and also so they could shrink and still have room for pin backings.

Thing to do this weekend: Find a cheap local place to order professional 11x14 prints, work on Sailor Mucha and DaVinci Robin!

Way to act like they did it on purpose just to mess with you, Quatrina. Maybe you should take a deep breath and calm down a bit before you post. The people behind Fanime are human. Humans make mistakes and can be forgetful, and they can try new ways to administrate if they think it will be better. Next time, instead of relying on a string of code to do your work for you, try actively involving yourself with the various social networks you can find EVERY SINGLE MID-SIZED ANIME CONVENTION on, twitter was a life saver for me this year. If you really want to be involved in something, then be more on the ball and lose the "everything is against me" attitude.

On topic, I was wondering what specific information we need to email to the artists alley admins to add helpers to our application? Will they have to buy separate badges? (Also, I am still confused about artists alley registration and badge registration, if we register for the AA does our approved application include a badge for the con itself, or do we have to get both separately? There have been conflicting answers in previous posts.)

Looking for a room OR room mates!
introduction: hello, my name is Mary. I am 22 years old, as is my boyfriend Mark. I have a room reserved at the doubletree 8 blocks from the convention, however I am also looking for a room closer to the convention for myself and my bf. I am non-sexual so you don't have to worry about the two of us doing "unseemly" things :B I am planning to attend the artist's alley so I will also need room for my merch (a corner of the room is all I ask) and roomies that are staying from Thursday to monday. My bf and I can share a bed/floorspace if tight living becomes an issue. My budget for rooming is $100 (bf will pay his own share as well), if the room costs more I may be able to squeeze in a few more dollars. I don't smoke or drink, my bf drinks in moderation and can hold off on drinking if it is a problem. I have a car and can give rides to three other people (live in the Santa Cruz area but I can commute anywhere within the bay if need be).
room info: the double tree hotel ($79 per person with two roommates, my bf and myself) OR any hotel closer to the convention ($100 hotel budget, willing to negotiate). If I get offers for both a room and room mates, whoever offers first will have priority.
requirements: I prefer room mates who pick up after themselves and stay clean physically and in the room, as this was a major issue the last time I shared a room. Smoking bothers my asthma, so no smoking please! No falling down drunk parties either, I have to get up early for the artists alley. I am a true santa-cruzan, very laid back and accepting of all creeds, sexualities, genders, and so on. Basically, be a decent person and I will be, too.
contact: you can email me at tickyheadATgmailDOTcom, pm me on the forums, or contact me via cell at 831-359- three six five four. For facebook, just look up the username tickyhead.
miscellaneous: I am willing to pay part of my room fee in commissions and/or merchandise. You can see my work in the" stuff I can make" forum, and suggest things you would like to see in the artists alley. I play a mean game of drop-kirby-on-everyone in super smash bros. games. I have rheumatoid arthritis, so anyone willing to help me set up/ break down my table in the AA will be added to my application and given a small portion of the total sales (a very, very small portion, mind you)

Somecoolname: I don't really know what my both is gonna look like...I was thinking I'd just get some of those fold-out presentation boards you see in science fairs to save time and money :B maybe if I get four, stack em up into triangular columns, and throw a banner up top with my website name? It'd certainly grab attention. Misspelled words ftw.

Hachimitsu: I'm not too worried about competition, it sounds like her merch is vastly different from mine anyway, from how you described it. Plus, I'm sure more than two artists will be selling Sailor Moon fanart, it's pretty popular. :P

Added my Fanime List-o'-Things to the original post. Same website I gave the Artist Alley folks, so everything will be updated regularly as things are completed/plans are changed.

Actually that helped immensely, thanks! I'm a huge fan of One Piece as well, and I agree that Nico Robin does not get nearly enough fanart lovin'. The Sailor Moon idea is really interesting, too! I can already imagine some awesome DaVinci- and Mucha-inspired pieces to try.

Right now I'm also thinking about one or two pieces for my own favorites; Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, YuYu Hakusho, One Piece (I'll definitely include a Robin print just for you! ;) ), FLCL, and TTGL.

Very telling of how long I've been out of the anime loop, yeah? :B TTGL is like the only exception.

Hey there all, if this is the wrong forum please don't hesitate to berate me. I'm a starving art college student with plans to sell my talents for you fine otaku fanime fans. Since I'm not really up to date in the anime and manga world (I read One Piece regularly, but lately I haven't had time for finding new things) I'm asking you the people what kind of characters you want to see on art prints this year. It's a chance for me to gauge how likely I'll make any money and find some new anime/manga in the process, and a chance for you to make sure you see something worth buying this year!

If you want to see my art style, I sadly don't have anything current online atm (my school work is all nude men and women anyway thanks to the multitudes of figure drawing classes I have to take, so it isn't exactly up to Fanime's standards) but you can see my old work up to late 2009/early 2010 at my website, http://www.mystikskies.net/

Please note that it has been over a year and possibly two since that gallery has been updated, and my grasp of anatomy and color has vastly improved.

So anyway, tell me what you want to see, and maybe you will!

EDIT: To see what I already have planned for fanime, you can check out my list of things to do/done at: http://www.mystikskies.net/fanime11.html

Just added: Pin designs!

Wow this is really short notice for me, but I could probably be there! I'm on Spring Break right now (during the semester I actually LIVE in San Fran!) but I can probably drive down there just for funsies anyway. I suppose we'll wait and see. You can contact me at tickyheadATgmail or 831-359-three six five four. If anyone is from the Santa Cruz area and would like to donate some gas money I can give up to 4 people a ride.

Well damn, I won too.

The whole place is going to be populated by Fanime nerds. :B

Neither of my friends have accounts, they're even more antisocial than I am. They'll have to remain as "tickyhead's friends" until I can get them out from under their respective rocks...

Also, 4:30 works fine for me, I think.
