Yup, it's another one. So my fellow fanime attendees, tell us your craziest stories at Fanime 2007!
Here's mine.
Monday: I entered for prizes on Stage Zero, but I had no idea it would be a dance off!! It was my first one ever and I felt WRONG, VERY WRONG. I can't dance for crap.
Saturday: Nothing too unusual, except my gothic oujisama helped me stood out more than the last couple of years. Thanks to my nifty card parasol, I became quite popular for once.
Sunday: Dressed as Allen Walker from D Gray Man, scared some people on the bus ride to the Con. Played frisbee with Bleach characters and glomped rather painfully. After the convention, while waiting for the bus, a creepy Mexican old guy (I think he might have been drunk) came up to out of the blue and started saying stuff in broken english, like I was pretty and he started holding my hand o_o. Luckily, someone was nearby to save me. Downtown San Jose is creepy at night.
Monday: Dressed as Zombie L. Successfully got sweets from random people. Also met some Naruto cosplayers and hanged out with them. Eventually they started having a little too much fun and had team 7 do a erm...well look for yourself (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VsmtKtOFTLM//url)

Also I think I was getting followed by this random cosplayer in red with a huge sword. Maybe it was my imagination...I don't know. Trying to remember other thing.......
My craziest moment happened at the end.....I was walking downtown last night to the Pita Pit to grab a bite to eat after clearing everything out of the con (I'm part of the Logistics Staff for Fanime) and this lady started yelling at me out of no where. I tried to ignore her, bought she ran and caught up to me and started to ask if I knew so and so in jail.....I tried to tell her that my jumpsuit (the orange jumpsuit that Logsitics uses for staff uniforms) is just a uniform and that I didn't break out of prison......At least the guys working at the Pita Pit had a good laugh about it......

I was interrupted in mid-sentence by a glomp. The sentence was:
"Nobody's glomping me and it makes me sad. Maybe I'm just not attractive eno--(glomp)"
This was a sentence that was not being yelled for advertising purposes, I just happened to be talking to a friend of mine.

Craziest moment......it would have to be on Saturday, when I was walking through the game room as Rude (the one with the Shin-Roganie sign) and ended up getting my first ever glomp.......by a guy. Sure it sounds like the norm, but to me it is crazy.
I went into the elevator with a friend from Guest Relations talking about Yamaga-san and Sanada-san. The door opens after like 2 floors and Sanada-san steps into the same elevator with me. I had no idea what the hell to say other than just stand there like all nervous and bow at her when I left...O_O...
Other than that, I was trying to take some good cosplay pictures. I saw this person who was in an Aria cosplay from the back and I was thinking " she looks VERY nice".. went up to her and I get "BRIDGET'D" as it turned out to be a man.. my jaw dropped... etc etc etc and I slowly backed away...-___-;;;

Out of pure luck me and a couple of other people were going to fight outside with foam swords so instead we went inside and conveniently the KH battle music started to play xD then I went and fought Sephiroth and right before we started fighting the Kingdom hearts rendition of One winged angel started playing and again it was just awesome x3

A glomp is like a hug but more violent. Because of this, a lot of people don't enjoy being glomped by random strangers, so you have to either have a sign/shirt asking for them, or encounter someone who's asking for them and tell them yes in order to be glomped.
Craziest thing for me? UNO, definitely.

This may have been the craziest/scariest thing to happen to me ever, but it took place during Fanime..XD so yea.
Alright, so Sunday night [Ok, 2AM Monday], my two friends and I were finally leaving the convention center and heading home. We had stayed for midnight madness and late night DDR and whatnot, which was a lot of fun. Our car was parked on second street, just two blocks from the convention center. So we're walking, just talking about how fun Fanime was and stuff, what we'll do next year, the great moments that happened this year bladdyblahblah..when we hear, just one block away, GUNSHOTS. I didnt think they were at first, but my friend was like, "No, dude, those were gunshots!" Then all these cop cars came spealing around the corner, pulling into first street [We were about 15 feet from the curb] and all these people come running passed us. They looked absolutely mortified and were on their phones saying, "Someone got shot up!!" I started freaking out, and wanted to run back to the convention center, but my friend Cameron, being the guy that he is, wanted to "check it out." I was standing there besically saying, "WTF NO WAY! Lets GTH outta here!" But he insisted on walking to the curb and crossing the street. A cop blocking said street stopped us, but we told him that our car was parked on second, and we just wanted to leave the area asap. He told us to make sure we drove away from the "crime scene" and we scurried away. The incident happened right across the street from our parking lot, so all I could see were 10 police car's flashing lights in my eyes. It was CRAZY! There were policemen walking around with their guns brandished, searching for the suspect. We got in our car and were driving home the whole way saying how freaky downtown is now, and what an extremely interesting end to Fanime it was.
So..umm..did anyone happen to witness the same thing? ^_^;

Craziest thing for me was sitting at an Artist's Alley table with my friends and being asked for a commission. You see... I'm not an artist. But she paid me anyway! Thanks, Kingdom Hearts crazed girl!! : 3
Someone ran up to me and thought that I was hurting the totoro on-screen (there was a slide with a totoro and myself on the plasma displays). I told them that it said that I love totoros (since 2005), yet they insisted that I was making some threat... Uhh... yeah @_@
Let's see (for now):
- "Accidently" triggering the fire alarm by spray painting the wiimote cosplay. Oops. Luckily, the staff at the hotel didn't fine us.
- Being glomped by 3 random girls for pretty much 30 minutes or more. I couldn't escape that at all.

- Someone showing a white stain after getting out of the Hentai panel. I kid you not.

well, its not crazy but it fits here.
i was volunteering saturday afternoon at artists' alley manning the doors, making sure that only those with badges were able to go inside. all of a sudden, this girl just starts to run right at me, looking like she was gonna tackle me, but quickly stops about three feet in front of me, bows down to me, then gets up and runs off.
that left me thinking 'WTF?!' for the rest of the day.

Actually, glomps can be considered assault, especially if the person isn't asking for them. If you're not expecting them, they are NOT fun. Especially if your costume has limited vision and is top-heavy.

I'll have to agree on this one, some people don't like to be glomped, or even touched for that matter, and alot of people can get injured if they're golmped without warning. I've herd of times when the glompie had to be taken to the hospital.
Not only that, but a glomp can also aggravate something that may already be bothering the glompee. For example, there were times when one of my ankles was bothering me, and I was thankful for not being a glomp victim because I'm sure that a glomp could've made things worse with the sudden shifting of weight on my feet and ankles :(
The moral of the story: ask before you glomp :D

Heh. I learned that the hard way since, to be honest, I wasn't expecting it. I lost count of the glomping since it nearly destroyed my costume. :(
lol Hey yo, Oniko from Stage Zero staff n yes one of the hosts ^_~ I would have to say Fanime is always crazie for me every year, random fangirls n fanboys and tackle glomp attacks as usual though some of these fangirls of mine seem to be gettin bolder n more forward with me randomly XDDD A friend and fan during the second/third day of Fanime saw me as I was patroling the registration lines during my break from hosting when they gave me this gift bag with this cd marked "Cream...Lemon" (I haven't put it in my laptop yet to see what it is though I am rather hesitant ^^; hmmmm....), a lesbian mini poster thing of the famous lesbian girls "kiss"ing poster, and (my personal funnie fav) this really awesome red beanie that said "ORGASM DONOR" with the white medical cross on it! LMAO!!! Also gettin tackled off the side of the stage sometimes from random fans and cute girls n hot women while I was hosting... hmmm... lots more but those are the ones that come to mind at the moment ^_~

A friend of mine hugged somebody who had a sign. I jokingly say "I'll attack from behind". The hugger turns around and hugs me with a tight grip. She basically crushes my neck. So I bear hug her off the ground. That was fun.
My girlfriend carried her Guitar Hero guitar for her toki wartooth cosplay while we walked to McDonalds. Some fat douche waits till he has passed us by ten feet. He then yells "guitar hero sucks". I responded with "just like your mom does on me". He didn't respond.

I didnt expect to get more hugs or glomps than my previous fanime plus I wasn't even wearing a sign till Monday when I had the sign "Damn! It's the last day! I need a hug..."

Craziest thing to happen to me at Fanime? Well I have 2 crazy things.
I was the guy with the GLOMP ME sign (I was doing door duty for the game room most of the time, the one taking a tally of all the glomps I got) and I have 2 memorable glomps.
The first one was "the double team" glomp where an L got on his hand and knees and another guy jumped off his back and glomped me. That was kinda fun. Woulda been more fun if it was from a chick v_v
The second one was where I was glomped by an old lady. She asked me if I wanted to be glomped by an old lady and I was like "sure!". Can you say awkward? XD
230 glomps in all! ^_^ Woulda gotten more, but I didn't get the sign till Saturday afternoon >.<
Couple of people hugged me, all I did is walked around and then I heard "hey it's the Shinsengumi" and they asked me for a hug and so I said "sure go ahead".

I didn't witness it but I heard about it from a friend. It was apparently somewhere around Jack in the Box... He left to drive someone home and apparently the area around the place was closed for a two block radius.
I am kinda disappointed with all these unfavorable incidents around con.. Its not good for its rep... -.-; That and it kinda ruins the mood and the fun... >.>;
The most interesting/crazy things that happened to me during con was:
1) Taking 180 up to Great Mall to go to a friend's b-day dinner on fri. (I still wish I went in cosplay. XP )
2) Meeting the mangaka for Comipa (Sekihiko Inui) on mon.
He's hot. XPNothing huge.. and that's ok. Better nothing than bad things... -.-; Though I would've liked to go to the meet the guest thing also... T.T
the shooting is unfortunate news, I wasn't even aware.
We should already know that you get some of the most unfriendliest of people around Jack and La victoria at late night. It's either drugged up hobos screaming obscenities or ignorant people from the night clubs hating because it's easy to label us as "freaks", lol well you know what? they can all burn in hell.

I wouldn't classify this as "crazy"...but I thought it was really neat that Fanime practically took over the section of downtown San Jose on San Carlos St. between the college and the convention center.
I went to (Hydration) one of the restaurants on San Carlos St. one night and almost everybody in that restaurant had a Fanime badge hanging from their shirts. I thought that was uber kewl. 8)
The craziest thing I witnessed was a fellow dressed up as a Ghostbuster, approach four young ladies, and shouted, "GROUP HUG!" He even took me by surprise. I couldn't see their faces, but I can tell they were pretty much shocked. Or terrified. Hell, maybe even both. They just froze in place for a few seconds.
The poor chap left with his head down, empty handed, and hug-less.

It's either drugged up hobos screaming obscenities or ignorant people from the night clubs hating because it's easy to label us as "freaks", lol well you know what? they can all burn in hell.

The most crazist thing was when I was sitting down and waiting for the some Hentai to start I saw a Jesus cosplayer just getting in the room and I shouted "HEY LOOK IT"S JESUS" and everybody in the room was shouting "YEAH!!!" and from there we all shout "JESUS JESUS JESUS", one of my friends had a HORSE sign in the room and showed to Jesus. After that he took off.
Well there was one other thing....
Basically on I think Friday night, I walked to jack in the box and on our way there we saw like 7 police cars surrounding the jack in the box. Apparently they broke up a huge party that was going on and everyone ended up hanging out at jack in the box...I felt uncomfortable there since I felt like a bunch of people were looking at me. Though I felt safe walking back since I ended up walking with 3 people from the army talking about the war in Iraq. Though they kinda laughed about it since they feel like theyre escorting someone since I was dressed up so nicely for the convention lol.
What else....
Oh yeah my friend was cosplaying Yamaguchi from Chromartie high school so he ended up wearing a foam afro since he couldnt grow one in time for the con. Anyways a couple of black guys stopped him at the street corner on the way back and basically threatened him for wearing the afro. Saying it was a mockery of their people even though he was only doing it because it was part of the character.

Those were probably my friends, an incident happened where the felt like they should leave the hotel room to stop by at McDonalds for some yum-yum time, and then up in the hotel room, all of us back in the room were worried, not only because of that, but two of our friends went out looking for them and didn't call us when the shots were heard. So eventually the group of people that left returned, but damn we were scared shitless, my spine went cold, and my brain felt numb.

Bit of advice on the urban scene.
In my experience fast food chains are more likely to have gang activity.
Gang members seem to be heavily into brand names and trendy stuff. A locally owned burger or taco joint may have a babbling bum but at least they are not as dangerous.
When the big mall opened up in the San Jose area they had a gang shooting on the first day.
I was once asked if I felt nervous living in Oakland. I don't, but I do avoid trendy shops, fast food franchises and chain stores.

my craziest thing at fanime would have to be the time when i was handing out posters on stage zero after a game, and 3 girls who were sitting in the front row said to me when i handed out posters, the first said "your pretty! i like you!" then the second said, "I LOVE YOU!!" and the last girl said "WILL YOU MARRY ME!?!?!" with a big hug enough for me to not breathe >@_@< after that they were like "we love your friend too she's pretty like you" and they were talking about one of our guest hosts that only comes on one day of fanime and helps out on our stage. her names yunie btw. and they did the same thing exactly to her when i called her over! so after all that me and her were just standing there looking at each other and looking at those three girls and thinking "wwhoooaaaa" because it was unexpected >X_X<
yeah i never got an i love you and a will you marry me, ever since i worked for stage zero >@_@< so i'm kinda surprised lol and from girls to boot!

During the last day of the con me and this one girl spotted eachother like 20+ times randomly. It was crazy! There was also helping that chick with her Quest for left shoes...not to mention this one girl kept trying to give me a nice feminine figure in my cute pink dress (I'm a guy).
Seanie, sounds like those are the same girls that just randomly hugged Hanzo and I...
I guess a notable moment was when I was hosting a dance off on Stage Zero, and there was a Death Note L cosplayer who was keeping in character, then busted out into breakdancing, then returned to character. He won that contest, and he had quite the cool moves.
Crazy moments at fanime, well of all the things that happen the best crazy thing to happen to me was when I was standing around talking to someone in bleach cosplay when out of nowhere I get jumped and grabbed from behind by a very cute girl who's just hanging onto me and says "resident evil!, I love resident evil!" She hangs on my back as I walk around down stairs for sometime so it was a very nice 5 minutes. All I can say was she was about 17-19 blondish hair wearing all black and these cat ears so I didn't mind walking around with her on me. It surprised me as I looked like this.

Craziest thing I was a part of last year was the Death Note Wars. It was at our mini-DN Gathering. An L stole a Kira's Note, and the Ls began to play keep-away with it as the Kiras and a Misa chased them around. It was rather insane. At one point, all the Kiras had one side of the Note and all the Ls had another, and we began to play tug-o-war with it. Then a Near showed up, and I figured he was on L's side. Turns out he was on Near's side; he actually BIT my L in an attempt to get the Death Note! It ended with the Ls exchanging their evidence for a half-eaten box of Strawberry Pocky.
The elevators in the Marriott! The stopped on EVERY floor! It was sooooooo annoying!!!!! XD

Once we got to my floor, I was trying to venture my way out of there, however on my way out a lone spartan's sword happened to stab me in the ass, I jumped out of the elevator, and the last thing I hear as the door close, was a choir of people going "OOOOh!" Damn Spartans...
This isn't THE craziest thing, but it was pretty crazy and fun still.
I was staying on the 11th floor of the Hilton last Fanime, and had gone up to our room to drop stuff off. When I got on the elevator going down, it was already over half full of people. We stopped at nearly floor going down, and two floors down, the elevator was completely jam-packed. Since we really couldn't fit anyone else on the elevator, and we decided to all sort of crowd toward the entrance whenever the elevator stopped, and STARE down at anyone who was going to come in. It sounded like a good idea, but every time we tried, we all burst into laughter, (leaving several very confused looking people standing on the floor), so it failed miserably. Still, twas great.

This happened on my first Faime, there was this group who was running around in the lobbey, the most promanent of them was the one who was fallowing peop0le around while hiding in a box. While my freind and I were coming down the escalatore, the one in the box ran to the bottom of it and the other people told us that if we could guess who was in the box they'de give us $50. Little did they know but we caught a glimps of the costume the guy was waring as he ran to the escalatore. . . and when we got it right, they skimped out on the bet. >:(
When I went last year I ran up about 17 flights of stairs with some people because we were joking about the elevators and wanted to see if they could beat their friend up to their floor.

The most craziest things That happened to me At Fanime...was when I met my hero who Cosplays as Mello..[who was also my friend on myspace, He inspired me to cosplay as Matt in the first place]
My Lil bro [who was dressed as near at the time] spotted him, yelled "hey Tony!"

OMG...Me and my friend every morning would walk to get a bagel about 1/2 mile away and on the way back this random homeless guy wheels in front of me (yes he was in a wheelchair) and asks me to wheel him up to the food line at the church..I was like :o ::)
And finally wheeled him up there, but he wouldn't lift up his feet so they kept on dragging as I pushed him up the ramp...Then when I finally got him up there...he was like I forgot my water bottle, can you go get it...I was like..F it...so I went got his water bottle, which he left on purpose..so him and his buddies could see me bend over in my "close to sheer" skirt...LMAO...it was sooo funny and creepy at the same time...moral of the story...stay away from the church by the hotels..especially during the morning hours

Hehe, the cats and I teased each other. I had been sitting because my Etna boots were hurting me and they made me get up (which was a pain also because of my short skirt), so I in turn got a pic of them sitting.
My funniest/strangest moment from last year: My friend and I were walking to the game hall late Sunday morning. This hoard of Death Note cosplayers (mostly scruffy looking kids claiming to be L and a couple of hyper-active Misas) was on the prowl for more Death Note fans to add to their group. They spy an L walking with a plainclothes friend a few feet to our right, and let out an all-together terrifying shriek before rushing toward him. We start shouting for him to run for it, and at first it seems to work. He and his friend run ahead for about ten seconds, then they rounded a cement pillar and head straight for us. The friend was a yard or two in front of L, he crouches down and L uses him as a springboard to lauch onto my friend in what had to be the mother-of-all-glomps. Now this friend is a big guy, mine you, so thankfully it didn't hurt much and whatsmore, he managed to continue walking forward. I only partially understand the events leading up to it, but seeing the power of a perfect glomp, even under such stange circumstances, was awe-inspiring if one is allowed to discribe it in such a way.
Maybe not exactly "crazy," but something I found AWESOME that happened was on Sunday. I bought a goomba near the morning, and later in the day we morphed it with a gaia tentacle, a pikachu hat, and my friend's pink wig. My friends took it around asking random people if they thought it was
a) cool
b) creepy
...most said creepy D:
They then took it and showed, I think it was the lady working at the sim dating stand, who named it the rare pink-haired nagagoombachu.

The night before we played with the plain-ol' goomba in the games room, playing "three goomba's up," which is really just three heads up, but with a goomba. (Which makes lil' 8-bit sounds when you hit it!) A LOT of people joined, I think we had about 10 at once at one point. My feet were murder that night.

Friday night: I was a lil' angry (but not really) that the yuri room wasn't actually showing any yuri ??? So I start voicing my disapproval, and apparently one the staff thought I was serious but that gal next me explained that I was doing it for the lolz. When the yuri finally started to play a staffer ran up to me and handed me a stack of napkins and told me to,"enjoy myself." Just in general the hentai rooms are made of craziness. ;)
Saturday: Walkover to the Jack in the Box for dinner and enjoyed the look of all the "normal" patrons as they saw all the cosplayers. :D
Sunday night:Played 2 hand touch in game room until it was broken up since it was "dangerous" ::) and the resulting aftermath. :)

Not sleeping the whole con put me in a really weird mental state. That said lots of things happened while working SoS/Rovers. You really see some weird stuff.
1) First night, Friday. I caught some people sleeping in the registration area, under the tables. Man, some people...
2) Sunday morning, there was an old (drunk?) cranky guy spewing profanities all over the concourse. It was like 4 a.m. or something, so a bunch of rovers (like 4 - 5 of us) went out to confront him. I've never seen more yaoi stuffed into one persons bag than I saw this guy had. Kinda creepy.
3) We had so many police and paramedics due to like a bunch of people getting seriously drunk, passing out, and becoming unresponsive. Say no to alcohol! Also, you should remember to eat and drink, fainting during con is bad!! But yea, we had a ton of people needing paramedics like saturday and sunday. Totally crazy.
4) Some people managed to somehow sneak into some weird area that was off limits and sleep there. They didn't get caught the first couple days, but eventually, they got caught. People are tricky.

any way i think my funny things were i was vash on the first day and on the buss ride there i got so many stairs and my chemistry teacher was on the buss to so that was fun talking to him =D
and then on one of the nights my friend and i were in yukata and geta and we figured out that if we galoped around the game room our geta made the same noise as the coconuts from montypython some people got a kick out of it befor the conops asked us to stop XD
My craziest moment had to be going on the search for the Holy Grail. >>;
It was the last night of Fanime, so my friend and I decided we would stay up the whole night.
Anywho, somewhere along the way we met these two guys and talked to them for the most the night.
Well, as the sun began to rise Monday morning, we decided to gather a group of people in search for the Holy Grail. We literally we able to get 20+ with us at one point or another. We traversed through both hotels and throughout the hallways before we found ourselves at the Starbucks inside the con.
And there was the "grail".

Weirdest things for me was a combination of things. Like 10 mins after getting there (last year was my first year) I had the joyfull experience of finding out what getting glomped is.
Going out for lunch on the town was funny, cause I rode lightrail in a cosplay outfit, and the public kept asking if there was a parade somewhere or something.
Lastly was sunday night (I believe) there were alot of drunk people who decided it would be a smart idea to climb on the convention center's roof. Then later I hung out in the main lobby with friend, and a guy came up to one of the girls in our group, and introduced himself by talking about how he likes to go to S&M Clubs up in SF.
my craziest thing was me and my friends went to safeway and got some food, then we were in the lobby eating, when we started going around asking if anyone know and cute asian chicks for one of my buddies. then one of the guys overheard us and invited us up to the presidential suite of the marriot for a party. it kinda sucked, but i ahd never seen the inside of a presidential suite before. it was pretty cool.
i think it got loud and hotel security was called, so i had to hustle some underage buddies outta there, but allinall it was purty kewl.
we never stayed too late... cept for saturday. but we started losing conciousness and since we didnt have a room we had to go home. T.T
you must've had some night! Man I hope I have a lot of fun at Fanime, its the only place that I'll feel comfortable at.
