This got brought up in one of the facebook groups for staffers, is the a general guide for listing Fanime staff positions on our resumes?

Or should it just be:

Fanime Staff for year(s) [dates]
Position (unpaid/registration compensated)
General description of what we did


Also does anyone have an example of the 2015 logo so I can have a look at it? Couldn't find anything on the fanime site itself.

do we have a time for the meeting? Or is the general meeting 3 like usual?

The meeting on Saturday left me with the understanding we'd have a bit more warning and lead time regarding hotel registration. Did I get the wrong memo? I was under the impression we were looking at February, not less than a week.

My notebook went and did a houdini on me, when is the next meeting?

Just curious.

Where are the offficial gathering pics that the Fanime photographer was taking being posted?

Who was the one that was doing that cosplay music video that used some people from the firefly gathering for a few shots?

Presumably negotiations are going on, and some of the desk clerks I've spoken to over the past few days have been very snide saying everything for Memorial day weekend is already booked, or quoting me astronomical prices (IE: 320 a night for the cheap rooms.). This next year It's not going to be just me, it's around 15-20 people and we're trying to budget it out and fundraise, etc, however we need a reasonable amount to shoot for, part of why I've been bothering the hotels in the area to get pricing so we have something to aim at with the hope that Fanime Housing will be helping alleviate that burden.


So.. some 'soft' numbers regarding the various hotels maybe?

Just looking for a general date for when that opens up, My college's Anime/Manga Etc club is looking into going.


As well as a price for prereg so we can start the budgeting process.

Just some stuff I threw together last week.

From concept to construction, all in about 1-2 hours.

That plate of steel the bike is tak'ed to is about 7 inches in length, and the bike itself is roughly 8-9 inches long.

Cut and sanded Plexiglas painted over with a black Para-cord wrap.




And now compared to the knife I based it off of.




It's for my Fallout cosplay. So, does it look like a 200 year old weathered version of a combat knife? Or did I fall short of my goal?

I turn 21 inside 2 months, Turned 21 today. Wondering what kind of mixes and plain drinks people like.

I personally have a few mixes I have made, friends over the limit have said they're good, hence my senior year nickname 'Bartender'. I personally haven't gotten to taste them yet.

stirred, not shaken serve Cold or Warm over ice.

(for a virgin nix the Vodka and mix in a lemon/lime soda of your choice)

Mountain Dew 'Baja' Blast
1 part Mountain Berry Blast powerade
1.5 parts mountain Dew
Stir in a tumbler and pour over ice or in your serving glass.

I just now realized I'd managed to delete my reservation confirmation for my stay.

To be honest I'm not even sure what hotel I'm staying at because of it.

Quick question is there a way to get the registration confirmation resent?

Seems like since February the FAQ's been saying "soon" that we'll be able to check the status of our registration for those of us that registered at the Con last year.

Are we talking soon in Valve time or what?

For any Valve fan that hasn't seen it yet there've been a few updates to Portal, including new audio files and a modified ending to the game, which is awesome and creepy at the same time.

There is also a new achievement involving the radios. The sound files in the updates can be converted into ASCII images pertaining to Portal and Half Life 2.

We could have had valuable intel on the other fifty fruit of kaboom bombers out there, but nooo. He get's a gorram lawyer... I pity the sap that got stuck with that case...

I took Ceramics this semester and during some down time I started work on my interpretation of a sandworms tooth from the book series Dune. I just recently got it back from the glaze firing.

The prop is made from stoneware clay and has a ruby red gloss glaze for the red streaks, with a coat of Crystaline glaze over the top of that.

Ta-Dah!






My initial Crysknife design was made using a wood carving and bondo, which I then painted over with a glossy white spray paint. To be honest it looked a lot like a chunk of plastic to me. Seen here.

[Gathering Organizer]

I figure there should be a Firefly/Serenity Get together. Not exactly a gathering per say, but a small shindig to swap thoughts and feelings about the Shows and Movie. Come to celebrate U-day or mourn the loss of Serenity Valley and profess your thoughts it wasn't the wrong side even though we lost.

However you're not limited to just firefly. Arrive to share your thoughts and opinions on Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dollhouse and not to forget Dr. Horrible's sing Along Blog.

Texas Hold Em' or 21 may be played with Bubble gum pieces as your betting chits...if they ever materialize, the mint leaves in my mojito at the con read no though, but I have an innate distrust of divination so third fourth... fifth times's the charm? Gum will be provided, on way or another, but feel free to bring your own!

As another activity we also plan to be holding a game/games of Mahjong. there might be prizes... or sermons about lepers...probably the lepers....but maybe something to do with copies of firefly, Serenity or Dr. Horrible's sing Along blog...


My intent is to have made, bought or borrowed a firefly themed set of mahjong tiles by next year.

Sorry, I either forgot your real names of we didn't swap names, but I remember the male hunter asking for a specific one of the photos to be shopped with flames... so here it is.

Took me a few days, but I got it done! Yay. Yes, I've been told I look like a Jawa with it on already.

I made this blade last week, it's a straight single edged blade solid wood, which I think is Pine. I haven't tested is strength but I think it would stand up to being a prop, and is more for show than practical stuff. I'd suggest a Boken, or something else designed for practice, for that anyway.







If there is a Niche for decorative swords like this I'd probably consider getting a booth and selling at the Con.  I'd probably place a value of $20 for the time I took on it, and the materials themselves, tell me what you think.

Got bored yesterday (The 18th ) and made a wooden sword. What are your thoughts?


I wonder if people at Fanime would be willing to buy stuff of the like to this....mayhaps I should carry it with me at the Con and do a feild poll on the subject..
