Anyone planning on going to Anime Los Angeles in January?
#27

This is a commission from Carrot Anime that I got sometime after Fanime. It was supposed to for Fanime, but it never got in - and for good reason.
It's way undersized despite giving my measurements.
I'm getting another one that's bigger, but I'm looking to sell this one. It should easily fit a M-L, maybe a XL.
I'm looking for $50 40.
Leave me a PM if interested. Will cover for shipping and also throw in one of those zip-up garment bags that you can hang up and protect the jacket.

Going into FanimeCon, there wasn't much hype around the premiere of the Gurren Lagann movie. I only found out through the program guide and the schedule - no one really reported on it.
But throw on some subtitles and show it at AX, and now everyone reports on it.
They make it seem that the movie is premiering in the United States at AX when it already did @ Fanime (without subtitles).

Dealers Room / Halko Momoi Tour T-Shirts
June 01, 2009, 12:24:18 AM
I didn't have enough money to buy one of those Halko Momoi 2009 Tour T-Shirts they were selling.
Is there a place online where I can buy one?

Things in the Universe / Auto-Tuning a Vocaloid?

Is it possible to use the auto-tuning technology on vocaloids?

As we go into the last day of FanimeCon 2009, we have experienced amazing moments. Post those amazing moments to share the world.

For me, it would have to be attending the Yamaga-san Party and getting gonged at the Karaoke Gong Show while trying to sing Mikuru's song.

What about you?

I know this conversation has come up many times, but I think Fanime is ripe to be part of the World Cosplay Summit, especially with the fact the other only other con that is part of the WCS prelims in the US is on the east coast (NY Anime Festival).

Yeah, I know about AX in 2005, but that shouldn't stop us from being part of a world summit and sending a "west coast" representative to Japan to compete against the world.

News about the Swine Flu gets worse and worse everyday, prompting governments to call medical emergencies and take severe actions. Luckily there have been no reported deaths outside of Mexico, but that could all change in a matter of days if not hours.

There are some people who are already stockpiling on meds and masks. I was at Rite Aid picking up paper towels, and while I was in the checkout line a guy came up to the cashier and asked where the masks where. Shit's getting real.

So what do you think? Could this be the 2nd coming of the Spanish Influenza, or something bigger (or not as small)? For me, it won't change my daily plans unless everyone starts dropping like flies and it becomes a nightmare scenario.

(Reposted from the Forums Game subsection)

Plz note: this "contest" is in no way afflicted with any FanimeCon event. This is being done on my own time with my own money.

Welcome to the 1st annual "Find Me @ FanimeCon and Win Free Stuff!" game!
The game is simple: you find me at FanimeCon, you win a prize!

This is how you play:
1) Go to my Twitter page and subscribe! Don't have a Twitter account? MAKE ONE!
2) During FanimeCon, I will be Tweeting at the con as part of my coverage alongside my blog. I will also be announcing times in which to find me. I might Tweet "First one to find me in the Dealers Room wins a CD" then follow up with a clue like "Pizza Butt" (meaning I'm at the Bandai booth). If you're the first one to find me, you win!
3) Prizes may vary, from plushies to CDs to quarters already inside an arcade machine. You never know what I might pull out.
4) I will be doing this once a day for the four days of the convention. You never know, I might do a Saturday one early in the morning, or early early early Monday morning, or late Sunday night, or maybe Friday when I arrive at the hotel!
5) ???
6) Profit!
7) Enjoy the game!

Ideas and Suggestions / General giveaways?

Would staffers (or anyone in fact) have any problems if I start Twittering where I am to find me to win free stuff at a certain time?

Ideas and Suggestions / Press Releases?
March 05, 2009, 11:16:12 PM
On the right sidebar of Anime News Network's website, there is a Press Release section. Often times there is press releases from various anime cons announcing guests and so fourth.

I wonder: does FanimeCon have press releases? And if not, would be beneficial to release some?

Live Programming and Events / WMMT3DX @ Fanime '09?
December 28, 2008, 12:57:19 AM
WMMT3DX (Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 3 DX) is the new version of WMMT3. They have started to appear out in the arcade world, although personally I live in Sacramento I probably won't see one until sometime deep into next year. Maybe they'll start showing up in the Bay Area sometime next year...

Which leads me to this.
Are there any plans to bring the DX version to Fanime?

Incredible Stuff I can Make / Embroidered flag patch?
November 09, 2008, 11:37:07 AM
Hi, I just had a great idea for an original Code Geass cosplay. My character is part of a counter-terrorist unit, and I'm going to deck myself out in their gear.

What I'm looking for is a embroidered Britannia patch with a white border. If anyone can make one for a reasonable price (maybe $15?), please let me know.

Live Programming and Events / Music Contests?
October 23, 2008, 10:24:35 PM
I had a great idea for a contest that involves the theme for FanimeCon '09 - music.

It should be a mashup contest, but here's the twist - it should be a mashup of East meets West, meaning it has to include anime, game, J-Rock, J-Pop, anything from Japan, but can be mixed with all other genres (rock, rap, techno, etc.).

Good idea?

According to BusinessWire via the FanimeCon page on Wikipedia, FanimeCon has "generated more than $5M in local economic impact."

Those numbers were from 2004, the first year at the San Jose Convention Center. Does anyone have updated numbers?

Registration / Press Badge Registration?
September 06, 2008, 12:21:26 PM
1) Can I register for a press badge for 2009?
2) If I do register for a press badge for 2009, do I still need to buy a badge?

With two years of successful blogging from FanimeCon, I would like to announce fanimeconblog.net, the new domain for everything FanimeCon!

This weekend we shall find out if Fanime totally owned AX, given everything that has happened in the past two convention years...

My first attempt to mix the real audio of the Nico Nico Douga Medly with the audio from the Masquerade performance. I hope after I get the audio I want to make a video version.

Version 2 removes most of the sync issues. Probably the only thing that needs to work out is the sound level between the Miku version and the Masquerade version.

And now Version 3! It's Version 2 with Mario!

Version 4 features Taiko Drummers...

...and Version 3+4 brings it all together!

Hope you all like it :)
