Thanks everyone,

I think I need to start keeping a schedule. Normally I hate schedule when I'm on "vacation".
Thursday I do not cosplay. Day 0. Reserve for badge pick up, swap meet and meet up with friends.
Friday is a "half day" I normally get ALL my shopping done on Friday because most of the stuff I want later on tend to be sold out. Once shopping is done. Then back to cosplay once all that is done.

Is what i have "planned" so far.
Thanks I didn't know that!
I been going to FANIME for 8 years now. (I feel old)
I started cosplaying about 5 years ago.

When my group of friends and I first attend...
We did what most attendee do. Line-con, eat, take pix, buy stuff, watch OVA, panel, game-room, hentai-night, home, repeat-ish. Saturday and Sunday we would attend music feast and masquerade. etc.
We're gamers, smash bro, Overwatch, Board-game. Etc.. Tend to spend many hours in game-room.

In the last few years as I gotten into Cosplay. I made a ton of new friends. And my schedule for FANIME change a lot.
The change I notice was, my camera went from DSLR to my Iphone for selfie with other cosplayer. I stopped going to panel, hentai-night, music feast, masquerade, and game-room.
Its...Breakfeast, redbull, shower, cosplay, gathering, lunch, shower, redbull, cosplay, gathering, photoshoot, dinner, shower, redbull, dance, sleep, repeat. Exception of Thurs-Fri for swap meet and dealer/artist alley at 10am. Get all my shopping done on Friday Morning.

I feel kinda bad as the only time I spend with my Original friends was Thursday to pick up badge & swap meet.
Just wondering how you guys balance it. Do you actually keep a schedule for FANIME? (I don't)
When Hotel reg open in 2017 I was lucky enough to book a suite at the Marriott but decided against it a month later for a lower room floor at the Hilton.

The reason is everyday I have 2 cosplay. 1 for noon, 1 for evening. I return to my room 5+ times a day for break or meet up with friends.
My friends/roomate is the same. We want/need the room and we enjoy some spoils once in a while.

So I'm wondering is having a suite worth it? They tend to be on the highest floor. I'm not too big of a fan of elevator-con.
May Daft Punk humbly request make a appearance like last year?
Looking to find all electronica family. :D

YES, you WILL LOSE YOUR PLACE when you cancel.

base on 5 years of going to con with hotel each years.
Feb you usually see the wait-list move. If you don't have your desire by April
its likely you will not get it.

I will NOT gamble on stay after the 24th.

I got there at 10:30am, I left at 11:15am. WOW GREAT JOB FANIME! LINE-CON IS BEST CON!
If anybody willing to share Thursday or Friday or even both days for swap meet to help me out.
I should have enough to take up only half the space. I have a lot of things plan to make our swap meet unique and more fun. :)

I'll post the wait list instructions in here for everyone since it looks like most people on the Official Waitlist will be able to get in.  What this means is that if you've created an account, but received the "Spaces not Available" status, you will be Wait list-Wait listed, if that makes sense.  Official Wait listed people will have priority, but you can still possibly make it in.

QuoteHere is some information for you.

1. Wait list will be admitted starting at 8:30pm ending at 9pm.  Show up at 8pm to check in, letting us know that you are here and still want a spot.

2. If you intend to sell, please bring a copy of the Swap Meet Seller's Agreement and your BOE-410-D, links below.

-I will not have any forms printed up, if you ask me, I will direct you to the FedEx Office down the street and you will have until 9pm before all registration ends.

3. We will not have a place for your stuff, leave it in your car until you know you've secured a spot.

4. If you are fortunate enough to get a spot, please observe the following.  No Handcarts, dollies, pushcarts, wagons, wheelbarrows, two-wheelers, or other cargo assistants apparatuses are to be used to ferry your goods to Swap Meet.
-Rolling luggage is allowed.
-If you do not adhere to this rule, you will be turned away at the door and if you do not return before 8:30 your spot will be treated as a no show.
-My staff will not be helping you carry your stuff, we have many people participating and my staff is limited.
-If you try to re-negotiate this rule with me at con, I will consider you as forfeiting your spot, do not test me on this rule.

5. Please bring exact change for you spot if possible.  Spots are $30.

That covers the more important stuff,  If you have any other questions, please feel free to email me or ask in the forums.

I do expect to get most into a space, but even if you're not able to get a spot, stop by and check it out!  Never know what you're going to find.

I have a few question since I'm taking my chance for Friday Swap meet wait-list.

1.) What is the "Official Wait-list" Mine said, "

Unfortunately, it appears that our main count is full for this day.
You have been placed on the waitlist. If spaces open up within this week, we will notify you."

2.) Does it matter what my application #? I'm # 811.
I get the feeling I will be wait an hour in line just to be turn away... :(

I'm planning on getting there between 10-11, think its a good chance I'll be able to line up indoors that early?

Registration is open at 3pm.
Sounds great to me.

Check in starts at 6:30pm both days, we will start letting people in to buy at 7:30pm.  If you have not registered or have not made "late check in" arrangements with me via email, your spot will be refunded and given to the next applicant on the wait list.

The 10:30 time was only if we were in South Hall.  Since we didn't have to be in there, we can stay open the full time.  The advertized time is Midnight to start clean up, but we usually allow you to run late if it's still busy.

Further instructions for People with spots and Waitlisted people will be sent out today or tomorrow.  I know it's really close to the con, but we're working as fast as we can.

If anyone is still stuck at Step 5 right now, it's because we're still awaiting some form of verification before approval is done.

For spot selection, it's completely random.  There is no priority or At-Con selection.

Had wait-listed email been send out?
I don't think I'm too far in the line.
Not sure if I should wait or look for someone
who's willing to share their space.

I got a swap meet space for both days and am willing to share with someone. Since I
am flying up I can only bring two suitcases of items and will most likely only need to
use about half the allotted space. In case you have a lot of merchandise I'm skilled at
artfully arranging things and making maximally efficient use of space.  ;)

My only caveat is that I'm trying to minimize the expenses of the con as it's costing me
a lot to fly up there, so I'm looking for someone who wants to share my space but is
willing to pay for the entire spot for both days, just like people who missed out on artist
alley are willing to do. My reason for attending the con is to sell at the swap meet and I'm
not even sure if I will do well as this is both my first time attending Fanime and my first
time paying so much for a swap meet spot at an anime con. So I thought this would be a
good idea that could benefit both parties.

Please send me an email at seerakosumosu[at]gmail[dot]com titled "Fanime 2014 Swap Meet"

Email sent :)

I would recommend sunscreen. I got a bit of a sunburn last time.

Current San Jose weather prediction (Google version):

Thursday: 88°F   Partly cloudy.
Friday: 84°F   Partly cloudy.
Saturday: 81°F   Sunny.

Last year It got really cold at 6pm. I wore shorts and a adventure-time t-shirt because it was so warm during the day.

Sorry- but one more thing

"should hold EVERYONE IN-DOOR in year!"

That's pretty assuming and I'm not even sure if that's necessarily true... Although we are back in the SJCC, the area area of where the lines are to be are fairly limited. We may or may not have the lines spill outside of the SJCC if they get too long as we aren't too sure just yet what that'll look like.

Good thing I added JACKET to the list.

Hey there, sorry to be an ass, but I'd like to formally complain about how this just went down. I was sitting there refreshing the forums and events page like an idiot only to find out second hand from a friend via text message that the link was posted somewhere (FACEBOOK???) and now I am waitlisted. I didn't even stand a chance of getting in because I wasn't looking in the right places.

Sorry to hear that, I think you need to PM the OP as they seem to be in charge of swap meet. I have the worst luck being # 811 while people who has 794 get in. LOL I think the cut off was at 800.

Well maybe we'll get lucky in 1 weeks.
Ouch on wait-list already for friday

-My BIGGEST MISTAKE FROM LAST YEAR, Miss a day of FANIME cause i got sick

Coming from the frozen north I find this kinda funny, I wear shorts and a t-shirt for my entire trip.

LOL, Unfortunately Californian cannot take any temperature past 90 degree and under 70 degree. Youtube it. lol.
Wait, so we can't bring our own dolly or cart to haul our stuff?
I have 4-6 boxes of stuff to sell. I can carry 3 at most if i stack up to my head...

Any suggestion if this is the case?

Hey- thanks for making this guide!

I would just edit that it is now "valid photo ID" as we are allowing school IDs to the standard list of IDs we typically accept.

Nooo problem, done and done. :)
