We are pleased to announce that this year's winner of the Fanime Con Karaoke contest will have the honor of performing two songs during the Fanime Masquerade on Sunday evening: the winning song and one follow-up song of their choice.

The winner will also receive priority seating at the Masquerade for themselves and up to three friends or family members. If the winning entry is a group, this could be adjusted accordingly.

Our thanks to AngelJibrielle/Marisa of Masquerade!

Assume about 3-4 minutes for each act to sing and get on/off the stage- if there are 12 acts in the first group, that will probably take about 36-48 minutes?

Fanime Con 2007 Karaoke Contest
Contestant Start List

Here is the official contestant order for the Fanime Con 2007 Karaoke Contest.

We should have two wireless mics and at least two wired mics. Groups greater than four will need to share.

Headset mics...not this year. Mabye next year, budget permitting.

where should you go to change songs before con?

There are no song changes before con. All song changes are handled at con.

Pre-Con signups are closed! Please see the At-Con signups topic for info on when and how to sign up at the convention.

Pre-con signups for the Fanime Con 2007 Karaoke Contest are now closed.

To be fair to those who have school/work/travel on the Friday of the convention, we will start at-con signups for the contest on Friday, 5/25, at 9PM. We will take at least five contestants at the con, as well as waiting list entries.

Signups will take place in the Karaoke room located in Hall C of the Convention Center. You will need to show a Fanime Con badge good for Saturday, and either have a CD with your music on it or your choices from the open mic library.

Note that you are not considered to have signed up until you've specified your music, so no "hey I want to sign up!" as you flip through the song books. Pick your songs from the song book (or have your CDs ready), then come to the table to sign up.

Any questions, pls feel free to reply or send me a PM.

I thought we had 30 entries, but somebody didn't put their real name on one of the entries so that entry was rejected. Thus, we have one pre-registered spot open still!

I don't want a bunch of "ZOMG DID YOU GET MY ENTRY??!?!?!?" posts, so just let me repeat: I will post the received entries this weekend. If your name is on that list, then I got your entry!

I'm having the same problem... only i tried submitting three times... should i do the same or wait?

Wait a few minutes, then try again. The server has been a bit finnicky as of late.

Names will be posted in a new topic on this forum.

Inuashley, your entry was received.

It looks like we will fill up the 30 pre-con spots very soon (there are three spots left as of this writing) so I will go ahead and post the list of names this weekend.

Quotereally need to sign up for this as soon as i can to get a spot, but i have a question. can you change your song after you sign up? if this has been answered elsewhere, i am sorry, but i could not find it. (i have barely practiced any song, so i am thinking of signing up for mt top two choices at the moment, if i can change them later...)

As long as you sign up with two valid songs you may change your songs freely until you check in and hand us your music at con.  Once you hand us your music at con, no more changes.

QuoteI think I have a slight problem: I filled out the signup page and submitted it, but it didn't go through to the next page because it said the page was not found. Am I signed up or should I signup again?

If you didn't see the next page, it's likely your entry was not received. Please sign up again and include your forum ID so that I know who you are.

QuoteQuick question -- it said that the participant list would go up later. Will this have just our group/nicknames or real names on it? I'd really prefer not to have my real name broadcasted on the site.

By default, we post only the first initial and last name. If you want it to be more private than this, then please send me a PM.

UPDATE: As of this writing, there are three spots left. Also, I rejected one entry because the person submitted the same song for both prelims and finals. You must submit two different songs for prelims and finals.

Because I can only check the database when I get home at night, it is probable that some of the entries submitted later on Tuesday will not be accepted. So sign up soon to guarantee your pre-registered spot!

We should have this one already.

Quote from: "kuroi"Okay, I've got a bunch of questions before I make a decision on what song I'll register with...

1. Is an original song by a J-pop artist but sung completely in English okay if it was released on a single for a song featured in a video game?

2. Are we allowed to use instrumental versions of the song as a kareoke track? (like instead of vocals, the notes are played on another instrument, like piano or fllute)

3. I know it says no a capella, but if a song starts out a capella for the first verse, but then has accompaniment for the second, is that okay?

4. Can we register both as part of a duet and single, or will we have to choose one or the other?

^_^ sorry for all the questions! I've just been having a hard time narrowing down songs. Thanks in advance!

1 to 3: Yes
4. Only one entry per person, so you would have to choose between duet and single.

My apologies to everyone who has been patiently waiting for much of the day/evening. I had some slight trouble with the database on my ISP, but the signup form is now up and running.

To sign up for the contest, please go to this page:

Quote from: "yumicchi88"I have a karaoke version of a song, but its the one that is shortened by someone so it would be the T.V. size.
would that count as edited and not accepted?

We only accept music that either has appeared in the series/video game itself, or is on an official CD soundtrack. No fan-edited or fan-made versions.

Regarding sentai/eurobeat songs: The sentai song is okay. The eurobeat not from any anime or video game would be kind of a stretch.

Is this a cover version of the song by Seal? Would be interested in hearing it.
