Title: New in Japan for March 2005?
Post by: Tenba on March 21, 2005, 08:57:03 PM
Hi!  Does anyone have a list of what new anime came out and is coming out in Japan this month?  I used to get the information from anime-daisuki.net but the web site doesn't seem to be working right now.

Things that will begin airing this new season (I in no way claim this list to be comprehensive):

Name and first episode air date:
Fushigi Hoshi no☆Futago Hime: April 2
Ichigo 100%: April 5
Futakoi Alternative: April 6
He is My Master: April 7
Tsubasa Resevoir Chronicle: April 9
Hachimitsu to Clover: April 14
Eureka Seven: TBA

Personal note: I'm looking forward to Ichigo and Futakoi. =P

As for the stuff that began airing in January, these are the ones that come to mind: AIR, Mahoraba, Jinki: Extend, Mahou Sensei Negima, Girls Bravo series 2, and UG Ultimate Girl.

Though somewhat old, see "Beyond the Clouds".

I can't remember if I'm right, but "Stellvia's" second season should be out in May?

More.  This time, I don't have the dates for the first episodes:

Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan
MÃ,,R
The Law of Ueki
Sousei no Aquarion
Erementar Gerad
Honey & Clover
Trinity Blood
Zettai Shounen
Speed Grapher (the best name ever.  Makes me imagine the series is about someone who's abnormally fast at statistics XD)

If this is the anime where they have a girl that ends up being the next Puchiko, this is my number one series right now.

I can't remember if this is true or not, but the "Fullmetal Alchemist" movie should be out before summer?

I am so horrible with times right now.  All I care about is "Ichigo Mashimaro".  That's it.

I actually thought it was going to be out in July o_O;;; I know it's going to coincide with L'Arc~en~Ciel's single release, since that single is going to be the movie's theme song haha xD I'm pretty sure it's July...

er just checked animenewsnetwork, and the date says July 23, 2005 xD

My impressions on what I've seen thusfar:

Ichigo 100%: having read the manga up to chapter 115, I think I'm entitled to scrutinize this series.  I'm somewhat surprised I don't have much to complain about.  One minor complaint about a cut they made, but I can deal.  Fun series.

Tsubasa Chronicle: a respectable adaptation of the manga.  As far as I'm concerned, Bee Train animation + a Kajiura Yuki score = a winner.  I don't have a problem with any of the new voices and am actually pretty darn giddy about Sakamoto Maaya as Tomoyo.  One of the strongest series this season.  I would put more weight to this series if it weren't for the following series.

Futakoi Alternative: I didn't know what to expect going into this.  The preview was just strange.  But hell, it's Futakoi, so I had to watch. =P  I had read on several anime logs that it's really good, so that only heightened my anticipation and instilled fear that I'd overhype it.  Let me just say that regardless of what those anime loggers could write, it still wouldn't have prepared me for the awesomeness that is Futakoi Alternative.  Gauging from just first episodes, this seems to be my pick of the season.  A strange premise, likable characters, interesting disjointed direction, and good production values.  And hell, it gets browny points for having a claymation ending.  No knowledge of the last Futakoi series needed to watch.  Watch it now.
