Every year it seems to amaze me how some people don't understand about good hygiene. I know cosplaying, weather,humidity,activities,etc...... play a big factor. It only takes one dude/ette (let's be fair) to stink up the place.Just be smart about it. Take advantage of the hotel showers. Don't be shady with the soap! If it smells, wash it! Febreze does NOT fix the problem. SOAP IT UP!

Any smell you smell is triple for those around you.
And if someone tosses you a bar of soap, you didn't heed this advice XP
Brushing your Teeth also helps as well. You do not want your morning breath of death to wake up the entire room you know. That would be called a rude awakening.
After you get out of a dance/concert/physical exertion of any sort you should probably consider going back to your room and taking a quick shower.
I'm figuring one day I'll take 4 showers because I have so much sweaty stuff going on.
It's kind of sad though. My favorite thing about the Bay is that I have no allergies there. For the few days I'm at Fanime I can actually breathe and smell...and I spend it surrounded by fanboy/girl funk. Have pity on my few days of working olfactory senses and smell nice. ;D
Yes. People should also consider carrying a small packet of baby wipes/wet ones to quickly wipe down armpits and other sweaty areas in between showers, and then apply a fresh coat of deodorant.
Mouthwash and tongue cleaning is also a good precaution against bad breath as well. Carry mints - preferably altoids!
Yes, Fanime is 96 hour convention (120 if you count Day 0), I'm pretty sure their is time to take a shower! If your out of mints, gum, tooth brush, deodorant, AXE, etc go to a local drug store!

I shower when I'm home; I see no reason to not shower if I have a hotel room. If there are roommates in line I will patiently wait.
In fact, I feel like crap if I don't shower.

yeah, showers are relaxing and brushing teeth feels good. I don't get why people wouldn't want that.

Staff has been explicitly forbidden from spraying stinky people with air freshener this year. Shame. Rovers do give "friendly" reminders, though.

It only takes a few mintues to shower and put on deodorant. :< It's not that difficult.
Also, in big crowds of people where it can get rather warm (like the dance), you might want to shower before AND after going there so you don't stink up the place beforehand and then stink up the halls afterward...
I like the idea of printing the badges on air fresheners, but those usually just add to the stink. Let's instead include soap an a trial-sized deodorant in the little bag with the schedule, etc. ;D We need to find a sponsor to get on this! Think of all the advertising that they can get from this, especially once stinkers realize that the hot cosplayer they are oogling might give them the time of day if they can breathe...

Better idea -- encase the badges in clear soap, then make them invalid if it looks like the soap hasn't been used. Make sure that each day, the soap is worn down further than the last (so people don't cheat and just run it under water for a couple of minutes Friday morning and leave it that way for the con -- it seems like it would be less effort to just shower than to cheat, though!).
I think a lot of these people don't realize they smell. They took their morning shower, put on deoderant...and stopped having friends around 4:00PM. What gives?
If you let them know, please be kind about it. Also it's better to hear it from a friend than a stranger who runs up to you, throws deoderant in your face, and yells, "YOU STINK!"

Being that I'm at the convention center at least 12 hours a day during fanime (even more if I'm staying in a room), one shower isn't enough. I take a breather and enjoy a second hot shower. I also carry a stick of deodorant and a small spray can of Axe in my back back around the convention center and periodically reapply through out the day.

Yes, that is the giant hurdle to jump. They are already used to not taking advice from people(given that these certain geeks wear the same clothes for a period of days and are very malnourished) ,so shouting at them is advise falling on deaf ears.
Haha I actually got into an arguement with a fellow con goer about showering. We both were blaming one another in the dealer's room about the other until we realized it was the malnurished geek. Cause when he left the smell went with him. We both appologized to one another and made peace with a box of pocky *nods sagely*
it was a good idea to run back to the room and get another shower each afternoon. gives you a break to drop off purchases, nom ur noms, relax for a bit.
I don't see why people choose not to shower at con. I mean if your in a hotel then everything is provided:Shampoo, soap, conditioner, towels, hot showers. If you happen to run out of this stuff, call front desk or look for a maid and ask for extra stuff, its that simple. I don't know how some people do it. I can't even go a day without a cleaning. I feel to disgusting when I go even a little bit long without a shower.
Because some people don't have common sense >.<
I honestly thought the fanboy/girl stank was better this year. I did have some run-ins with people who definitely reeked, but in prior years it often felt like I was getting knocked down every time I turned around from the stink. Despite spending a lot of time in lines and elevators, it wasn't that bad. I might just be lucky. XD
The problem I encountered was the fact that the gamers would stay in the gaming room until the wee hours of the morning then go back, take a shower, and repeat the 24-hour gaming binge over again.
Apparently when they're in the same room for the entire day, 1 shower is enough... T_T.
As soon as I arrived at Fanime/McEnry Building, guess what I smelled? First fkn thing I smell was that Fanboy/girl Stank Stench Nasty Shit. I looked around for a whiteboy in a wifebeater. Guess what I found. I found 2 stanky mo fos. It smelled like they didn't even shower for Fanime. Hella disrespectful to others if u ask me. I'd rather be next to my cat's litter box as he takes a massive dookie. Fuck Fanboy/girl Funk! FUCK THE FUNK!
A couple times I'd be walking around fanning myself, and suddenly it'd feel like I just got slapped in the face. >.<
I only smelled it a couple times, in the dealer's room and the main concourse area, but what it lacked in frequency, it made up in potency. ; ;
