I played Saturday night.  I stink  :(  Need more practice.  My best character is Engineer.

Yeah it's generally a good idea that the first thing you build is an entrance portal in front of the spawn area.  Just remember to run back and resupply yourself.  In sudden death mode, the supply rooms cease to work so the first thing to build is a dispenser.  If you build a sentry first, you may not be able to find enough ammo and fallen weapons on the ground to build a dispenser.  Be sure to tell the group where you built the dispenser, too.

Great advice.  I remember some levels the portals are useless.  I saw Engineers building a dispenser in the middle of the battlefield.

Jerry, I stink too.  What's important is having fun.  So far, I experiened no bashing and bitching, and I'm one of the lowest scorers.  There was one game where both teams were engaged in a shootout in the middle of the batatlefield for at least seven minutes.  Then the offensive team said the heck with it.  In 3 seconds, we're all going to storm through and attack.  I'm having fun.

yea i am thinking about cosplaying as one of the guys from the game too. wonder if they are going to have a team fortess 2 tournment. not sure who to cosplay as. I am stuck between the spy, engineer, scout, Demoman

A TF2 Tournament sounds interesting but I think you may need to reserve two separate rooms, or separate the teams as far away as possible, far enough to prevent eavesdropping, if you want it done properly.

i dont really want to get the orange box, considering TF2 would be the only game i'd really play.

i already know what happens at the end of HL2, and although i know how much fun Portal would be if i played it, i don't really like the fact that it has an end (or that it's single-player only. the ways i'd work in multi- are beyond me, but still...)

TBH, I'm rubbish at the normal FPS tropes - sniping, rocket jumping, etc. The class system in TF2 has finally let me find a niche. As the medic, I don't worry much about my aim (the medigun is very forgiving and "sticky"), and to a lesser extent, the map itself -- my base skills are just staying alive and keeping up with the pack.

Pyro's a bit the same. "Aim" is such a broad term when you wield a flame-thrower. And many pyros stay on defense, so you just need to know your own base/cap point really well.

I <3 Pyro [ref: avatar]. Whenever gmontem is on the other team, I'm a pyro - just to get him as a spy. I'm very trigger happy so I tend to catch 'em spies. M pyro also sez "holaholaho" when he dominates. Pretty great innit?

My grandpa's pet parrot says "holaholahola" all the time, heh.

I love teaming up with pyros as a medic, provided they stop just short of suicidal (wth is with some people who think the healbeam always makes them invincible? gotta wait 'til yer glowy, guys).

Maybe it's revenge for me being set on fire so much. Screw spies, this medic only truly fears the cleansing fire.

I play it TOO! TF2 SNiper All the way!! J/w are we allowed suppose to bring our computers to fanime? I saw a bunch of computers at fanime and wasn't sure if people brought those or if they were just out for people to use. I wanted to play but didn't know. :-P

The computers belong to the e-gaming department where there are tournaments and open play.  Anyone can participate.

Reikon, we have different schedules.  Saturday night is the best, at least for my schedule, LOL

gmontem, no way on cp_mountcoaster.  Half of us died in 5 seconds and we all played the level for the first time =P  Yes on cp_arenaball and ctf_hallofdeath.

Last night session was great.  The "melee_ringking" map funny as hell.  Richie, your server must also host "junk_soccer" NOW NOW NOW.

Very fun.  Thanks everyone for playing sidearms only melees.  junk_soccer is a great map.  I enjoy all sport theme maps.

Next theme for 2fort:  Spy vs Spy.  Everyone plays spies FYI.

To set the record straight, Spiritsnare and I killed each other at the same time.  I was Medic and he was Pyro.  The joke was supposed to be Spiritsnare couldn't kill me and stayed alive.

Is it me, or is the gameplay fun factor recently going down?  For example, I was playing 2fort and my team had more Engineers than offensive characters.  Both sides were playing defensive and little offensive.  I left the game.  Granted we all begin as newbies.  I have faith the gameplay improves soon.

But yeah, I can see where you're coming from. You can always switch servers to find one with more experienced players, or you can train in a different class and have fun doing so.

Or you can take my route and try to penetrate their defense. I get a rush out of trying to destroy three sentries at once without being a Spy and sapping - because I can't play Spy at all.

Spy vs Spy?  I don't think that would be fun but I guess we can try.  Just don't suggest medic vs medic, please. XD

Appu killed me in a 32 player cp_lazytown game. Took a screenshot because he looks so cool with that blood all over his left arm. XD

Thanks for the screenshot.  The cp_lazytown Appu, gmontem, and I played last night a rule was modified I didn't like.  A team must control the center point and build exit teleporters on the opponent's territory just outside the center point.  Without center point control, teleporters are useless.  I'm not playing at the server again (and Skyscraper)

My last game I played last night was Dustbowl.  The server included open communication.  If you talk, everyone listens including the enemy.  Weird.  And my team was offensive.  I was Heavy and I hit a Pyro eight times with my gun from point blank to short distance.  The Pyro wasn't killed.  When the Pyro killed me, it looked like I caused 80%.  I hit the Pyro eight times and I caused only 80%.  What gives  ???

OK, I said enough =P  I take a break and watch anime ~~

One 2fort game someone suggested everyone becomes Heavys.  We gathered at the Intel room, walked to the bridge, and fought the enemy hand to hand.  Unfortunately, most of Blue attacked us with their guns.

I'm usually on late. Or not at all, or at school....

I don't have a set schedule of when I play, so if you post something ahead of time, I could attempt to log on.

I'm usually on late and either Friday or Saturday.  Sunday evening is rare because I work full time.  Sunday afternoon is rare, too.

I set up a time and date soon.  I post everyone's steamIDs on the first post soon ^__^

Once the new update rolls around, I'll be wiping the server clean so we can all get a new start.

Everyone else, so sorry for a delayed post.  Busy.  The chances of me playing the upcoming weekend is really slim.  It's going to be three weeks since I played TF2, a personal record :)  If I do play Saturday night and I see three of us playing TF2, we can play at Richie's server.  It's a big IF XD

Spiritsnare and I chatted briefly last week about a tournament Saturday May 3.  I'm free Saturday night depending when my Dad logs off the Internet.  Spirit, I talk to you later tonight about a tournament.

In the meantime, here's the announcement:  we try to have a tournament Saturday May 3 after 9pm.  If I'm logged on and I see you're online on my friends list, I message you saying we are gathering for a tournament.  Minimum of four players.

BTW, some of us might play tonight ^__^

Sounds great! :) Be sure to get your bro to make paper masks for as many anime characters possible so he can attend every single cosplay gathering in Fanime (and slip a few backstabs in between shots hehe).  Ooh and make paper masks of various board members, too! ... like me!!! ;) (since I won't be attending Fanime)

there were a few portal cosplayers on saturday and sunday, as well as some companion cubes abound.

@ININ: i saw scouts, spies, that one heavy, as well as an Engie. I'll try to have the upgraded weapons and not the classic ones.

@otakuapprentice, that explains why I didn't see Portal cosplayers on Saturday because I was at the FMA and Bleach gatherings.  Excellent choice for upgraded weapons XD

Here are pics of clawmaster's Engineer and the Heavy.  Clawmaster, gmontem had a good suggestion.  The next time you cosplay, bring your toolbox.  When someone asks for your picture, open the toolbox and show a minature sentry gun, dispenser, and teleporters on top of blueprints =)

this update is gonna be a lot of fun; unfortunately, Valve/Steam is not saying at what time exactly the update will go into effect.

I've already unlocked all the new pyro weapons. The flaregun is actually quite useful.

Is anyone interested in a special Monday Night TF2 Monday June 23?  I read the latest updates and the Pyro achievements.  Awesome XD  I downloaded the latest updates.

I wait to play on Monday after the free TF2 weekend.  I have other stuff I need to do on Saturday and Sunday ^__^

Alright. I'm down for it, too. (Yes, I got the game, finally.)

Got a fully unlocked Pyro ready to go.

The Backburner is a pretty damn good advantage against other Pyros merely because of the extra 50 health it gives. I learned that the hard way after getting dominated by five other people who had unlocked the damn thing - now it doesn't happen. >3

The other two I haven't found much of a use for - I don't use the axe, and I haven't quite gotten used to the flare gun yet. I like playing offensively, so I'm usually not at long distance to use it the way it's supposed to be used XD

I've gotten owned by a couple people using the flare gun. The backburner is definitely awesome, though I haven't unlocked it for myself yet. I guess that's because, for now, I see achievements as vague goals to pursue while normally enjoying the game, so that they're something of a pleasant surprise when I, you know, achieve them.

I was thinking, how about we make Monday Night TF2 a regular occurrence? Like, if you're only on one night a week, try to make Monday that night from here on. Anyone else in favor?

We had Monday Night TF2 (MNTF2) a regular occurrence about six months ago.  Then MNTF2 stopped because of schedules, school, and work.  For me, it was working on my Chrono Hawlowne cosplay.  We can have MNTF2 a regular occurrence again.

I participate tonight.  It depends when my Dad logs off the Internet XD  We have separate DSL routers.

I'm down for regular Monday Night TF2.

Also, when shall we start, how many people will be joining us, and where shall we play? So far, we've got four people confirmed, but the other two questions are still up in the air.

MNTF2 was great.  I was rusty last night.  After we played at Richie's server, we went to another server and played 2Fort and Dustbowl.  The second game of 2Fort was a statemate.  I'm available for another MNTF2 on June 30.

I was online until about 10pm, watching anime and waiting for people to show up, but nothing happened. Then I decided to lie down and next thing I know, it's 2am. I got up, but it didn't seem like anyone was around, so I rewatched Kara no Kyoukai #1 and went to bed.

yea, i completely forgot about last night(my computer was taken over for most of the night), but next week will probably be better.

When we played Monday Night TF2 when TF2 was still new, we had a good turnout.  Today, it's hard even with school out which surprises me.  We have our work schedules and other priorities =)

I see if I can participate on Monday July 7.

Everyone, let's aim for a goal for the MNTF2.  Let's get eight players to play on Richie's server to earn the Win Friends Like these achievement.

If that's the case, then we should aim for a definite time period during which everyone should be on. Like, 9-11pm or something. Then people who may not be on for the whole night can try and arrange things to ensure they're on at the same time.

Most of us are online and playing MNTF2 starting at 9pm.  I anticipate I play TF2 tonight after 10pm.  Hope for a good turnout tonight.  Play for about an hour is good enough.  The summer goal is the Win Friends Like These Achievement XD

I'm thinking of creating a BARF event for those two times but I would like to wait for a little longer until you receive word of your family plans this weekend.  Since you mentioned a minimum, it sounds like we'll be playing in a private server like Richie's?

I confirm tonight for my weekend activities.  I edited the title post to mention the "With Friends Like these..." tournament.  It's nice to play at Richie's server.

Update I'm confirmed Sunday at 1pm.  9pm is doubtful.

The Heavy update comes out on Tuesday! There will even be a free weekend on the 21-22! (Friday and Saturday a week from now, I think.)

Looking forward to seeing the KGB, Natascha, and the new Meet the Team video, plus finding out what all the new achievements are. Oh, and new maps!

I haven't played TF2 in a couple weeks, so this should be fun.

That's great news on Heavy.  I did poorly the last sessions I played as Soldier.  Then I switched to Heavy and I did much better.

Free TF2 August 22-24 next weekend.  It looks like I avoid playing those days  ;)

Arena mode is freaking fun. Best experience so far: Lumberyard, team consisting of a pyro, a medic, and 7 other pyros. We went 5-0. Just destroy the enemy medic(s) and laugh as the rest of the team runs around screaming, "OH GOD I'M BURNING!" with nothing to do about it. =D

I remember what you did at Arena mode =)

I played Badwater Basin twice.  Great payload level.  Better than Goldrush IMO.  Playing Medic with the Kritzkrieg earns points fast.  The latest updates the Kritzkrieg fill up to Uber 25% faster than the Medigun.

That arena sounds like fun until everyone catches on and plays pyro. haha

I play Heavy and mow them Pyros in seconds.  I have plently of Sandviches, LOL

we should start a Fanime steam community group for TF2(and other steam-powered games that people play!)
