Ideas and Suggestions / Fanime '14 App Feedback
May 31, 2014, 10:44:20 PM
The following are my two cents about the application that was made available on the Android Market/Play Store. I'm not sure if there was an iPhone app store application, but if there was - by all means let me know. (Mods - if there's already a thread of this somewhere, do what you see fit)

What I was anticipating in the "official app" was a more elegant method of keeping track of events throughout the day (panels, screenings, etc.) than utilizing either the paper guide or the .pdf provided on the website. They're both fine and dandy, and do exactly what they need to. However, I'm not a fan of the booklet myself and zooming in and out of a .pdf leaves a lot to be desired, especially when an application can provide the same kind of information when properly designed. However, what the app turned out to be was effectively a modified layout of the already-mobile version of I'm a bit dismayed as last year's application had the weekend schedule built into it (albeit with somewhat haphazard UI design), and this year it was absent. In designing 2015's application (if there will indeed be one next year,) I would very much appreciate the addition of the weekend's schedule included somehow in the application itself.

I have made the suggestion last year to perhaps research the possibility of transitioning to the Guidebook application. It seems to be a rather clean solution that would provide a way for users to acquire all pertinent information, including the maps, rules, and other things that the convention would like its members to know, as well as the schedules for the various events that would happen throughout the weekend, as well as give options for personal schedule-making and the like. I'd like it if the app devs to maybe consider it again instead of making a new application from scratch every year.

The point I'm trying to drive home is that the schedule is a very important part of the application that I would like to see implemented into any future iterations of the Fanime App. I hope to see an improvement in usability come next year.

This would basically be a supplement to the pocket guide that comes with the reg bag every year. I found myself using the PDF of the pocket guide a lot more than the actual paper booklet, although it was a bit inconvenient to navigate. I'm thinking that this would be an elegant alternative. The video can probably make it seem better than I can.
I tripped on it sometime at the end of last year, but I forgot it. If I remember correctly, it had something to do with The World: R2 and had the words "Coming Soon!" or something to that effect.
General Anime Chat / Touhou Anime...?

looks like a fan circle is making what could very well be a full-blown anime for touhou:

animation seems a whole lot more "key frame-ish" than others. but what do i know...?

31 days and counting. warm up them cosplay outfits, gamin' hands, spendin' wallets, and projector watchin' butts (yep, they're just as important as your eyes), ladies and gents, because our beloved FanimeCon is fast approaching! it's always these last few weeks where the wait becomes damn near unbearable. but those who've lived through those weeks in Fanimes past can contend that it's well worth the wait. watch that clock, people!

in RichieLikesMaids' words, "Zero hour is now."

*UPDATE: 330 days till Fanime '08! yeah, i felt like updating because PFS has struck again this week, and if i go down, i'm taking you all with me!
for the past few weeks, ive had an undying urge to be at the con moreso than usual. ive been having dreams of the dealers room, panels, and the arcade during my nightly slumber. im talking to my friends and trying to convince them to go this year. is it just me or is the wait starting to become unbearable?
General Anime Chat / Whoo! New Shakugan no Shana Spinoff!
November 13, 2006, 07:02:18 PM
i found this out a few days ago. this spinoff follows Hecate; every Shana-tan fan's favorite evil loli (that OTHER one doesn't count, if you know who i'm talking about. and if you do, you know why.)

i havent watched it yet, cuz im still watching something else at the moment. but i will. soon. not later. soon.

p.s.: i hope this makes up for my previous folly of trying to point out the chibi shana spinoff (Shakugan no Shana-Tan)...i really do
General Anime Chat / Shakugan no Shana-TAN!
August 08, 2006, 10:28:23 AM
This is a spinoff of the title above w/o the -tan. and the exclamation point. that's just there for emphasis. and rightfully so; this lil japanese dvd extra is just straight up hilarious! long story short, shana has been chibified (much like shortpachoo's icon) and...well...haha-dom ensues. even my boy marcosius makes an appearnace!

google this sucker for a torrent. if you've seen SNS already, this is a must-watch!

man i hope you guys haven't heard of this yet...
i know that this anime is older than Haruhi, but i actually saw this AFTER Haruhi, so forgive me. also, if this was already brought up, forgive me for this too.

it made me think of Hiro-kun from Bust-A-Move, so this ED has nostalgia going for it. i believe the song is called "To All Tha Dreamers"; ED of Yakitate Japan

i hope i don't get kicked out/jumped by the SOS-dan for this... :?
i just want to know what titles were played in the concourse during the con.

erm...ive always wanted to say this...
