Bring back Orange Lounge Radio. They deserved a bigger crowd.

I actually have them scheduled already for next year.   We hope to have them set up somewhere for broadcast coverage next year.  Possibly from Stage Zero if I can get it arranged.  (That is my little personal Pipe Dream XD)  But indeed, Rob and Co. are great and it will be awesome to have them back next year. =}

Please put wifi in the panel room.  I'm sure some panels *cough*Fanime BB panel*cough* will benefit greatly from it.

This is something on my agenda, but since the convention center itself doesn't have a full Wi-Fi set up, the cost may be too insane to pull it off.

Please for the love of god dont have the fanimecon BB panel as the last thing next year.

I already talked to someone about that today.  Next year things will be a bit easier on the scheduling.  So problems like this most likely wont happen again.

Hello everyone,

Just posting this up here now so we can get a start as soon as possible in planning for next year.  I was happy with how things went my first time around.  But I know that things can be better!   So start those ideas here.  This will also help me get a picture of what kind of set up we may need as well.  There have already been a few suggestions I have seen in other threads, such as having more Video Game related panels, Ect.   Please post those here.

I will also ask if everyone can be as detailed as possible in discribing what kind of panel they want.  In some ways this may sound silly, but it will really help when trying to see if it can be pulled off or not.

Thanks Everyone!   Lets see those ideas start rolling!  =}

Panels and Workshops / No webcomics panel?
« on: May 29, 2006, 09:49:24 PM »
Dom is always at Fanime.  The boy is the Ninja supreme.  =}

Id like to do a webcomics panel for next year.  This year was my first time doing this and that was something that I didn't think of.  With hope I can try and talk some people back up for something like that.  Though it is good intel to know that Ian is out here in Cali, so that just adds more to it.  Hopefully I can get some stuff set up for next year that will work for everyone.

More video game industry people...

representatives from Square Enix would rock!

Matt Greenfield would be cool

Bring back Sean (For the Eva panel)

I'll think of more... ^_^

Being the Panels Ninja Ill try to work on getting Sean back for that panel.  I know a few people in the game industry from several companies.  Would there be an interest in more Video Game Industry releated panels?  We are getting running early on stuff so if people really want that start up a post over in the Panels section.  Particularly for Square-Enix, those guys are a tid bit hard to get ahold of.

Hmm... Having Hayashibara Megumi back (I still remember her from '99) would be kinda cool.

I also wouldn't mind seeing more J-Rock. (Not sure if this is reasonable or not, but...) Moi dix Mois springs to mind.

And also, Gackt...

Okay so that last one is a bit of a stretch...

As far as artists or writers go, Obata Takeshi (Death Note and Hikaru no Go) and maybe Ken Akamatsu. That would be pretty cool.

Gackt would be cool.   Id die and go to heaven if that happened.  He does own a place down in Los Angeles so its not quite as large a stretch as some others but yeah...  I have seen clips of him goofing off around LA and popping into KROQ down there.  So Ill keep my fingers crossed with ya.

Crap i wish I saw this before the con!    I had my copy on hand, I have been dying to get some multi going on it.  Sadly I can't complete the challenge mode but I still have fun playing it =}

I can not begin to say just how much I was STOKED that was there.  Being the panels ninja I was way way too busy to really sit down and play it but the time I got for it made my life a happy one for those moments. =}   I hope we can get Ebara or one of the others next year =D

Gaming / State of arcade condition at Fanime 2K6 thread

Personally I'm happy with the arcade.   Metal Slug 6 and Esepleguda (sp?) which makes my life complete.

Gaming / Custom Sticks: anyone interested?
« on: May 06, 2006, 09:51:13 PM »
By the way...  We bought Ultimarc J-sticks the other day for a project that a friend of mine is building.  The ball top j-sticks ARE Genuine Sanwa sticks.  They just have selectable 4way-8way switches.  And the buttons are using the same microswitches as the Sanwa tourament buttons, just with american standard buttons.   Thus why they are stiff.

Just thought id throw that out there.

Panels and Workshops / [idea] Iron Chef cooking compettition!
« on: May 01, 2006, 02:16:21 PM »
That can go into the idea pile for next year.  Its a bit too late to put on something this big right here now.  Id love to see an iron chef competition.  Hopefully get some cheesy voice overs going too.

Here's a joystick to consider from Happ

It only requires one hole, and no bolts to mount.  It is also quite versatile as far as how thick a material you mount it in thanks to the PAL not that holds it in place.  The switches are on an easy to remove mounting as well.  The stick doesn't have a lot of throw, but they're quite responsive.

My crew has put together a total of 6 arcade machines in the last year or so.  Happ really only has 2 joysticks.   Their tournament stick and the 360's are about the only ones that don't wear out or have too much travel as tsubasa mentioned.  The guys on build your own arcade controls have kinda put all of happ's products through the ringer.

And to Tsubasa, The main reason why I tend to really like Ultimarc is 1) their service is easily the best I have delt with.  Very quick to respond and if there are any problems Andy is very prompt with a replacement.  2) they are hand made and made to be durable.  Most of the sanwa sticks we have delt with, regardless of how much you think you aren't working on them.  If you play a few good games of guilty gear, you are workin it.
The japanese base arcade parts are made to be cheap and easily replaceable.  For the price it usually costs to obtain japanese parts, I go with Ultimarc knowing that if there are any defects of if they need to be shopped, they will do it.  Plus the fact that the Ultimarc Sticks also have either top or bottom 4 way switching and not a lot of travel.

The stiff buttons are relative to my experience.  They feel closer to the tournament buttons you get from Happ.  But that is one thing that I would order from the place you plugged.  I love the sanwa buttons.  They again aren't terribly durable but just feel so sexy to the fingers lol.

Actually, by following alice's link at top, I found Himura Games.  Readily orderable Sanwa parts.  I do believe I'm in heaven. XD

The Sanwa joystick looks interesting.  I wonder if I can easily replace the Happs Super Joystick with this without drilling new mounting holes.  Looking at the microswitch board, do they use Cherry microswitches?  Can the Sanwa be adjusted to become a 4-way stick?

Like I plugged before, check out the Ultimarc sticks.  They have one that you can switch without having to pull apart or open your board/box.

I just built my console.  I used the Happ perfect 360's for my joysticks.  And went through Ultimarc for all my button needs and my control board.   Their buttons are a bit stiff but VERY responsive.  They also made hand made versions of the Japanese style  microswitch ball tops.  IMO are a bit better than the ones from japanese arcades since they tend to stand up to more abuse.  They also sell an xbox adapter for the custom sticks you buy.  The guy who makes all the stuff on there, Andy  is his name, is super cool and is fairly active in the custom Scene.  Id check out Ultimarc before just about anywhere else.  Though I am seriously debating on those buttons...  I do like the japanese style buttons.  Too bad they are damn pricy.

Since finding it, id suggest hitting the Shooter thread.  If we had a good SHMUP at the con id be on there every time I needed to kill stuff.  Which usually is a lot.  lol

I'm kind of sad no Dolphin Blue this year XD   I love that game.

Panels and Workshops / How To Sew/Cosplay Panel
« on: April 10, 2006, 09:47:44 AM »
Here is the list so far.

Beginning Cosplay
Advanced Cosplay
Advanced Techniques: Armor Making
Cosplay for the Real Body
Wig Making Techniques
Wing Making Techniques

We don't have any specific Goth Loli construction panels.  But in the Cosplay for the Real Body panel, I believe (from the description I was given.)  It is tailoring as well as the overall planning.  Picking a costume that can be altered to flatter your body.  Then the alteration there of.

Though the one that id be interested in is the prop one (the one you said you are toying with lol).  If Jason and possibly con-ops might get in on it, it could be a pretty valuable idea.  Let me know!

Already thought of that.  =}  Getting them to not be as shy is the problem lol.  We shall see though.
