This thread is awesome. Thank you again for sharing these stories!

Also selections from the Robot Carnival soundtrack!  It's one of those "if you've seen the movie once the music will become instantly familiar upon hearing it again - even 20+ years later" soundtracks.  While the entire soundtrack is excellent, specific selections for ambient music may include:

Coming Soon / Opening:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGhLofQkwxE

Chicken Man and Red Neck First Movement:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCdo8h0LV8I

ANY of the movements from Presence:

Best of all Discotek has FINALLY licensed Robot Carnival for re-release in the US later this year!  :D

^ Needed as in "I have to take a day off for something" was back in January as I was out of town.  Needed as in "I've had enough of this, I want a day to myself" was last year as I restructured my work days / times so that wouldn't be a problem anymore.  However, the upcoming Memorial Day will be one of that first type, for Fanime of course!
< Enjoy your day off!
> Two and a half cosplays completed, a half to go!
V Do you (still) use any other forums besides this one?

I finally got a Jet Jaguar figure last year (among tons of other stuff) so this year I think the only thing I'm specifically looking to buy is an Ultraseven around the same scale.  Sure I'll buy tons more but that's the specific one.

Quote from: Waffles on May 10, 2015, 03:09:47 PMHi InsaneDavid!

I can tell you put so much effort into this prop. The drill is ok for peacebonding. My one small (very small) thing I have to point out is that for your gun prop, the tip needs to be altered to our current peacebonding rule: Gun-like props must have a non-removable orange tip at the end of the barrel which is visible from the side and which extends at least one inch up the barrel, or they must be painted all over in a bright safety color''. From the pictures, the tips are only halfway painted and only about 1/2 inch long.

Besides the orange tip, you should be fine with your props! (BTW, I really love your props!)

Thanks for taking a moment to respond!  I'll paint the emitters (the part with the paint on the tip) on the ion cannon orange the rest of the way to comply with 2015 rules.

EDIT: Fixed.

Out of curiosity, is peacebonding going to be using the soft adhesive wristband type tags for peacebonding identification like last year rather than standard zip ties?  Those were great, WAY more comfortable on the hand when tagged around a handle.

Thanks again.

^ I don't keep one, worried if I write a list like that something will happen to prevent me from doing them.
< Moderation, on both accounts, lol.
> I've spent the past three hours explaining to my girlfriend how Japanese railroad signalling works (for cosplay).
V How bright is too bright?

Thank you for sharing your stories!  So much of this is very familiar as it matches my early path into anime fandom.  My local Hollywood Video had a similar eclectic mix of anime (awesome) and since the anime shelf had limited space they would always rotate stock and sell the old tapes for $5 a pop - memories.

I can't wait to read what is to come!

Hi!  Aelia approved these props last year via the forums (http://forums.fanime.com/index.php/topic,16577.msg476070.html#msg476070) and we had absolutely no problems at the convention with peacebonding and gatherings but I wanted to make 100% sure again.

A really big drill.  All foam (with the exception of the hose which is thin plastic tubing) and everything is completely static as the hose can be magnetically attached or removed - it doesn't fire or anything like that - no triggers, bright colors.

An ion cannon - ABS, PVC and foam, no triggers, grips are from handheld packing tape dispensers, everything is completely static, bright and shiny.

And with full costumes - http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2014/270/e/1/e17173e48b8d95cb38a65d206d512916-d80s890.jpg

Thanks!

I've had the same message since my second log in to registration, for both my girlfriend and myself, for months since paying.  If I click the confirmation link I get the full paid QR code with my payment information so I'm not worried myself.  This is the same for both our separate registrations, which I why I'm not worried.

Perhaps it has something do with not booking a hotel? (I'm local so we just purchase Fanime memberships, no housing)  During the original registration process for both of us, when payment was made, there was no such message.  I think it has something to do with logging BACK in after your registration is complete - like the form is expecting you to finish up when in reality everything is done.

I vote for music from RPGs and other video games, but mostly RPGs.

I would love to hear some music from a game like Legend of Mana or Radiant Historia (or other non-KH Shimomura work!).

Absolutely!  The music from Parasite Eve would be awesome in the late evening / night when the halls aren't as full.

Also some of her lesser known (but completely awesome) stuff like the PC Engine rework of F-1 Dream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=civbSLk2HDA

Parkside Hall is a PITA to host near about anything in.  I attend an arcade and pinball expo that used the venue for years before moving to greener pastures with less cost and fewer asinine regulations.  For something like a dance, sure, it's okay - but I wouldn't recommend it for anything like swap meet.

If I'm remembering correctly you were talking with my girlfriend and myself around that time and took a picture of us. (I was repairing the electronics in the control panel of her jet pack when we first started talking)  This was taken around the same time...

Do you happen to still have that picture and if so can you e-mail to to me? - insanedavid AT classicplastic.net - thanks!

GameCenter CX style challenge next year on Stage Zero - let's make it happen!  I'll bring the gaming equipment and host but I need an Arino cosplayer that's up for taking on the challenge.
