So, I just moved to Vacaville from Pennsylvania for work and personal reasons...AND I DONT KNOW ANYONE >_<

however..I'm looking for anyone whose willing to chat and or eventually hang out and watch anime...or talk anime...or really anything else in general..art..literature..cars..computers.

Gah, I dunno..I've been here for about a month..maybe I've made a few friends, but lets just say things are very different in CA than PA..and well..I'm looking for some awesome people that aren't going to always put me in very strange situations...I'll explain if you'd like to know.

Anyway. Feel free to reply...I'm going to be at the con..and it'd be great if I could at least know someone before I get there...::sigh:: I miss otakon....but I have a feeling that this con will be even better and I can't wait....its been a long time.

feel free to catch me on aim as codenameanomaly

^_^ see ya

Wow. Vacaville. I'm sorry.

I used to live up in Benicia (further down 680 from you) till about a year ago. I now live down in San Jose, but I can still tell you this; there is nothing to do up there.

As for the mods? George, we've had our trouble in the past, but I hope that's behind us, this is pretty serious. This is exactly where the post belongs as it's very convention related, after all, does Fanime really want a list of events that includes stabbing? Probably not.

First off, Ryu isn't a mod anymore. It's just me, scott and tony.

Second off - If this was said at Fanime last year (?) and you say it was brought up a month ago, first off why don't you ask the people who told you it was said at a board gathering or the people you heard talking about it if they know anything about this or the guy. You're coming off as over dramatic announcing it to the world before trying other options first. Being threatened is a serious thing but if you scream fire in a crowded movie theater when your friend pulls out a lighter, things aren't always going to go the way you think.

Even if they were just talking trash, trying to act like they were hard or something; there's a difference between talking trash and expressing an intent to harm another. People like that should not be allowed at Fanime... How many of YOU would like to be around someone who potentially wants to stab people?

Again, for someone who is just trying to find the person to help them understand that situation better, you're going about this the totally wrong way. There's talking trash, and then there is going around asking people if they want to be stabbed at Fanime to try to turn people against a guy who has the wrong idea about a situation. I think most people know that no they don't want to be stabbed and no, most people don't want to stab, so why don't you settle this on your own terms.

I just went out to get donuts at the place like right down the street.
It took me 2 hours to get back.

Anyone know what the hell is going on in downtown San Jose right now? There's road blocks EVERYWHERE and you can't get into the down town area. I had to show proof I lived downtown to a cop just to turn to try to enter Taylor. Anyone know anything?

If you or a loved one have been a victim of a tit-beating in the last 6 months, there is hope. Call the number on your screen and see if YOU could stand to make thousands.

1-800-848-2328

From the law office of Phoenix Wright.

HA!  I'm still laughing!  That's awesome.
Bonus points if you caught the number-play. :3
is this a real number, and where does it send me?

IT is a real number - how ever... All they answer is "Texas".

I'm one of those people who hate to just ask "what if" when I can actually do it.

Well see, that makes a lot more sense.
You're right!

I thought it was some fanime event that I had never heard of. I got confused!

HA!

I like the "...and magazine in his pockets."

... Why would a newspaper include that...

www.bipolar.com

Amazing what you find on the internets. They actually have a website explaining these things. Who would have thought you could actually learn things on the internet?

Odds are, given my bipolar issues, I'll swing right back around tomorrow.

DO NOT EVEN GO THERE.

Just because you think that your life sucks one day and think that saying that they day before was a stupid idea DOES NOT CONSTITUTE being bipolar.

Bipolar, even on rapid cycles, goes on from month to month. A one day MOODSWING does not even go into ANYTHING like it. The depression of bipolar will mean your mind will not let your body move FOR FREAKEN DAYS. The mania will keep you moving and twitching for days without the capability of sleep.

A passing thought of aloneless or "Oh I'm so unhappy I could just sit here and slit my wrists" and then the next day be fine about it IS NOT BIPOLAR.

Get off your dramatic ass and stop blaming something THAT ISN'T CAUSING YOUR PROBLEMS. I hate you people that give Bipolar a bad name.

You think your bipolar? Go to therapy for 6 months and be on constant medication for 2 years and then we'll talk.

yes, his name is matt, i drank with him once and we were texting buddies til i got a new phone and didnt put his number in my new one. -_-

He lives in the middle of no where (*giggle*) but he used to play q-zar with me. :)

Destranacion or Jesus as we call him, has cosplayed Jesus for like the last 2 years. He looks like the Jesus from Dogma, so it's perfect. As far as I know, no one has had problems with him.

Wow, I'm surprised I'm so low. 2 days, 11 hours, 25 minutes.

I usually "Show unread posts since last visit", open each page in a new tab, skim for trouble threads, scan them, and close each tab as I go.

Ha. I beat you. 1 day, 9 hours and 15 minutes. I guess I skim less topics for trouble threads.

I think the age restriction was 15 or 16+ I cant quite remember, but you had to get a parent consent if you are under 18. Uniforms arent decided yet, you will have to pay for it. and well almost every con goer eat at a cafe =\ it is open to the con/general public so you will get almost every type of person

thats what i can recall, and theres another maid cafe thread mentioning alot of these things in the live programing event section

you said you have to pay for the uniforms? how much was it last year?

Here's quoting from the e-mail sent to all applicants that were interested.

- - - -

Applicants aged 16 and 17 will be asked to have their parent/guardian sign a simple take-home form for the Cafe (you do not need to bring your parent with you; just have the form in by the time of the convention, or you will not be able to participate.) We cannot take any applicants under the age of 15, sorry!

The last hour will be devoted to the most important part: costume approval.

The previous year, our uniforms were ordered through Honest Dragon China's Ebay store. The volunteers themselves bought three specific uniforms, of which, two versions are available from the seller:

You are welcome and encouraged to order these costumes; you will match those who are volunteering from last year, and these uniforms are beautiful and traditional. If you are interested in ordering them, please do so promptly! You are welcome to "dress up" these uniforms with headdresses, ribbons and the like, but no major alterations to the dress should be made. Our uniforms are black and white ONLY, with optional touches of red if you like.

If not, we've opened the floor for you to make your own costume, or wear one that has been made for you! (On a few conditions.) Our uniforms must be black and white ONLY, touches of red are optional. An apron on the front of some kind if highly recommended. Please keep traditionality in mind: we are looking for Japanese maid uniforms, like the ones exemplified above. Some lolita styles are acceptable if they look enough like service wear, and Western Maid uniforms are relatively acceptable if they look close enough or are modified. Very heavy J-rock influence should be avoided- we're looking for adorable or classy or elegant or feminine, etc. Please, no very short skirts. French maid uniforms are absolutely UNacceptable, for example:

I tend to skim threads and I read: "we're looking for adorable or classy... for example: *link*"

Then I saw the outfit and had a "..." moment.

Sure - start a relationship with people in the department, let them know you can't help this year but would like to next year, and follow up in a few months when planning for 2009 begins!

Doesn't planning for 2009 happen sooner than this  ;)

You sir, bring up a very good point. Too bad no one else sees it this way. The closest you'll get to actually planning for next years con before next year is, well December. Cept for a few departments that need to work right after 2008's Con but can't do their freaking job since the other departments are "too busy" to think about 2009.

.... NO I'M NOT BITTER.
