Hasn't this site been pitched before? I always felt like that site could use quite a bit of work, instead of just using a forum maybe put in more effort.  Maybe at least a display at the front of the site showing how many people from cons looking for roommates or something.

Heh, I'll try to look out for you too in addition to all the other people I'm tagging now lol, it's good cause most of the people are tagging their friends too and things are working out ^_^

Ok, so the whole "did you see me" thread has had me thinking over the last few weeks.  The method of just sending a few pictures at a time here and there to a few people is kinda slow and doesn't help in finding pictures in the future either.
I've already started contacting some people who are active on the forums who still are looking for pictures.  But it seems to me this whole thing would make more sense for those of us with facebooks to tag everyone we know in the albums we look at, and then have those people tag the people that they know in those albums.  Each person then does a small amount of work and many people are able to find pictures of them and their friends and everyone can be happy.

If you have a character that is recognizable enough and agree to look through every album I tag you in for people you can tag, I will look through my list of 250+ facebook albums from Fanime and tag you.

I'll start looking through them all again from top to bottom in about a week, so hitup this thread in the meantime if you want in on this 'project'

questions, comments, etc fire away

It's pretty easy to get to San Luis Obispo by Amtrak from San Jose if people wanted to go.  SLO isn't too far away from where the con is. But it doesn't look like there is any convenient public transit from the SLO train station to where the con is.

Clearly they need to make an anime version of Superjail.

Hotel and Facilities / Re: SJCC
June 11, 2010, 09:24:34 AM
Hmm, did we actually use up all the meeting rooms in the hotels and rooms in the SJCC?

Looking at the con map it doesn't look like it, although were some of the rooms used for con staff or other storage or organizing purposes?

Ha, if only the economy hadn't tanked and San Jose wasn't wimpy about investing, they were supposed to make the SJCC even better but instead of continuing balls out they scaled back plans :[ you'd think with the amount of revenue that conventions bring into the city that they'd bother making the improvements, but hey, that's politics for you.

They said at closing ceremonies that the con had grown by 5000 this year?

I know quite a few people are linking to photobuckets and other galleries, but I think it would be also nice to have links to facebook galleries so people can tag themselves and their friends easier, also makes it easier to find new friends we've made at the con but whose name we forgot :P Especially for the galleries that are public but people are not signed up on the forums and don't post the links here.

So yeah, make sure your photo gallery of fanime is set to public and stick up the link if you can.

Here is mine http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=22977&l=637000bf99&id=100000027740450

I'll try to update this main post as consistently as I can

The waiver seems to make sense, that way it's a warning to people.

In my hotel rooms my group always does a thorough job of doing most of the cleaning on our own, having the trash all in one bag, and additionally leaving a hearty tip for the maids.

There's no reason for con-goers to be held in bad regard by the hotel staff that takes care of us so well.

Ha this thread is becoming lulz from people not understand how it is just his personal feeling and he's not trying to criticize the con at all.

I think he was just voicing what he felt and making conversation lol.

but yeah continue the lulzy butthurt ::)

To me it felt like there were less cosplayers this yeah and that alot of people's cosplays were repeats from many previous years.

I think overall it was a great con.

Maybe the perception of cosplaying had a part in the con feeling 'meh' to people?

like it matters ~ im pretty sure their gathering will still be successful.

besides the SF cherry blossom festival is all weekend [and i think multiple weekends too]

dont forget Fanime is the SAME weekend as 2 other major conventions [in the bay area] as well. :P

nothing wrong with having too many social gathering choices :)

lol I just meant it's an idea for stuff to do, not to cancel their gathering or move it at all :P

Just informing them if they didn't know, I've been at meets where we slightly changed plans because something cool was going on, other times not, just good to be informed on other things occuring around if they don't know :P

Yeah, CBF is those 2 weekends in April so they don't need to move their meet at all or anything, and people have plenty of days to choose from for CBF.

If I have time though I might stop by both :P maybe even cosplay
