Hello to all my fellow Attack on Titan fans!
I was your 2014 gathering organizer. Following the gathering, I have been reflecting on my frankly crappy job ^^; And I have decided that I will no longer be organizing the gathering in 2015. keitoghostie will take over for 2015. I wanted to thank you all for the experience as well as being troopers through the heat.
Emotionally, I have moved on from this series. As I am still in school, my time is extremely limited. (College prep ; A;) I will not be able to put in as much time as I feel that I need to in order to improve, in addition I already run another gathering. I also realized that I am not quite ready, mentally and emotionally, to run a gathering for more than 100 people. This year was rocky, a lot of problems came up from all directions and I was too flustered to calmly make decisions like I needed to. I made my decision to step down and let someone with more passion take the reigns.
I have a few last things that I wanted to say. From my point of view, the Attack on Titan fandom is not as united as others since we all formed our own individual groups. I encourage you all to take the chance and approach others, talk to them! After all, gatherings aren't necessarily for the photos, it's for the community. Instead of coming to a gathering just to take photos, try interacting with the people more. It will make all the difference.

I will most-likely be attending this year as Mikasa (per my username). However I still haven't completed 50% of the crucial cosplay pieces yet which concerns me. The outfit ended up being harder to make myself than expected lol which is weird considering I just completed a cosplay outfit for Reki from Haibane Renmei (black-haired girl in my avatar) without any trouble.
Anyone have tips on sewing a patch onto a piece and having it actually stay on? The skill eludes me still T_T

Don't worry, I'm sure you'll finish. I am only about less than 5% done like always. ^^"
I am not quite sure what you mean, but from what I understand, you are having trouble sewing the patches onto the jacket? The back should be simple as long as you lay the jacket out flat and sew the patch to the jacket along the edges. For the sleeves, I would hand sew it on using a backstitch, same for the pocket. I've just started working on a Jean cosplay, which means I have plenty of time to screw it up and still eventually fix it before May. I'm going to try to make the jacket, cloak, and harness, for sure. I'd really like to try making the 3DMG, but I live in a tiny studio apartment and probably wouldn't have a place to store it. What to do, what to do...

Also I just finished my Attack on Titan "Scout Regiment" costume. I decided to cosplay both Mikasa and Hanji Zoe since the only difference I have to do with cosplaying Hanji is put my hair up and put glasses on. *thumbs up Naruto style* 8)
I know I originally said Jean, but now I'm debating on whether to be Marco instead.
(I'm too short for either one of them, but whatever.)
I guess I could decide pretty late in the game of actual costume construction, but it makes a difference in terms of which patches to get, of course.

Awesome! The social cosplay construction day sounds fun, but it pales in comparison to the ziplining thing. Holy crap that sounds ridiculously great! I hope I'm around for that!

If my hair wasn't so stubborn by nature (it's really curly), I would attempt to try and grow it out enough and style it in time for the con, but I've always had bad luck with it, so I'mma end up going with a wig. Good to know about the styling products though! :3

The gathering is clashing with multiple other gatherings I wanted to attend, so sadly, I will have to pass until next year. Unless things get moved around, I just can't fit in six consecutive gatherings. Hopefully I'll be able to make it next time.
So long as I don't have a conflict of interest for this gatherings time slot I will be there to take photos. I will also have business cards available so you can find where they will be posted. I will additionally announce what website you can find them on once I have an official "Convention/Cosplay" FB or tumblr page up. Elements of Wushu - They are a team of trained chinese martial artists based in chinese wushu/kungfu. They'll be giving us an awesome opening performance to the Guren no Yumiya and Jiyuu no Tsubasa. Please make sure you come a little earlier to catch their performance.
Rhys Cosplay - He is a cosplayer from England who moved to Hong Kong. He's making his first US convention appearance at Fanime 2014, so be sure to catch him around.
I started this random thing called a "wandering group" where before and after the gathering, we all wander around the convention in a group. You are free to join and leave whenever you want, just start by finding me or a group of SnK people and we can go from there. If you have nothing to do, join us and have fun!

The Fan Event will be after the gathering, we'd love it if a lot of the people were able to attend and join in the games since it will be nearby the photoshoot location. It will be interactive and game-based.

You should keep in mind that there is every possibility that the gathering will run longer then expected (I believe it is planned to end at 2:30 and your fan event starts at 3 right?). So you might not get a chance to make an announcement at the end of the gathering. Do you plan on either participating in or attending the Chopped Cosplay contest? I'm curious because I am in a team that will be participating. I can't wait, it's lots of fun! Also, maybe if your event starts before the gathering disperses you can just make sure there is someone outside of your pane/event group designated to announce your event. It sounds like it is going to be lots of fun XD
The gathering may run over, but it will try to make sure it does not go over 30 minutes. If needed, I will edit the photography order on the spot to make sure that we don't overlap or rush too much.
splitimagecosplay, do you have an estimate of the number of attendees the panel room can hold?
MaigoLily, they originally had us in "The Valley," but they have made arrangements to have one of the large panel rooms divided into two so we can have the room set as we asked for game-play and interaction with the audience. It will probably hold about 500 people with the way we asked to have the room arranged.
We asked for several rows or chairs separated in sections that are facing to a center aisle. Kind of like a runway/catwalk is, with chairs on each side of the aisle, but sectioned into smaller groups so we can have "teams/squads."

We had to really work with the Panels/Fan Events Coordinator on that issue. That is one of the reasons we had such late notifications for the approval, time, date, room, etc. Fan Events staff were actually considerate enough to rearrange and make a new room just for our two Fan Events due to the room set-up and space we needed. The normal Fan Events room wouldn't be large enough or be able to have a special chair layout. It was a lot of headache on both parties, but in the end it worked out okay.
We'll definitely keep an eye out for you at the two Fan Events!
Thank you everyone for making it out of the convention and into the sun to attend the gathering. I hope you enjoyed it. We had a lot of unplanned and unexpected issues, but thank you all for sticking it out until the end. I am still very inexperienced, however I received a lot of help and advice so I will definitely fix that next year.
My plans for next year are to try and find a place closer to the con, but where we can still fit the crowd. I'm thinking where the Kill la Kill gathering was, but the cosplayers and photographers flip-flopped. Because steps look cool. lol If you have any suggestions, please tell me.
So, because we were so far away from the con, I couldn't figure out if we even had an official photographer, so I would like to call you assistance to find anyone who posted photos and link it to this page. That way we can share the photos!

Excuse my derp faces most of the time (and whatever else weird things I was doing)- I was the Eren that some of the pics zoom in on. I wasn't feeling well at all. I don't handle sun/heat well (wasn't just for the photoshoot, the whole weekend was pretty bad for me until 7pm hit ><). I had fun though! There were so many people and all that I encountered were funny and really nice. ^^
Also, sorry if the pictures are so random, and candid... I don't really know what my friends were doing, and then in the album you can see their ADD kicked in and they started taking pictures with Godzilla... >.> I know they got the group shots, Eren, Sasha, Jean/Marco, Krista/Ymir, Scouting Legion, and Titans at the very least. I kept all the pictures because I'm a dork and feel even the derpy ones were really funny. xD Also excuse the random pictures thrown in.

Thank you for doing so much for this gathering. I lacked a lot of skills needed to run such a large gathering, so thank you for all the pointers above and along the way, I will keep them in mind for next year.

To everyone who attended the gathering,
Thank you to all who toughed it out. I had a lot of trouble this year due to most of my helpers sliding out last minute, so thank you effektdmentality for taking over when I started freaking out. I have also gotten feedback from many of you concerning the gathering. I have taken note of them and I will assure you that I will fix as much as I can for next year.
If you would like to help me run this next year, please PM me, your help is greatly needed, especially those with gathering experience.

This year I helped with running the Homestuck gathering, and we got through 34 photo groups (http://forums.fanime.com/index.php/topic,19071.0.html) in less than 2 hours (which I still can't believe)
If you're looking for volunteers to assist at Fanime 2015 or SnK gatherings at other NorCal (and maybe a couple SoCal) cons, please let me know because I would be happy to help make things work!
