Hotel and Facilities / Did you reserve your room yet?
December 16, 2006, 09:11:37 AM
I haven't quite yet, but probably will fairly soon.

The reservations can be changed or cancelled, it makes more sense to snag one early and then make changes if you absolutely need to later, rather than waiting for all your plans to be 100% finalized.

Quote from: "Zain"Sorry, one of our requirements is that the band needs at least four punctuations in their name before we consider them.

;'.?. were so great last year.

I actually find this quite funny. :)

And the uses of the word "Darling" in this thread, sorry, its just cracking me up. Don't ask.

As for the actual band suggestions, I'll just wait and see.

Daaarling, you're not the only one.

Seriously, I thought it was fucking funny.

Also, does anyone else keep misreading that MySpace link as "godofarmwarmers"? Or am I just on crack?

Quote from: "Moonblossom"The text is white, on a navy background, for me. I think it's quite easy to read.

The only orange I see is some of the links, and they're a medium burnt sort of orange that looks good on the navy.
okay it must be me then.

I did a PrintScreen and uploaded the pic onto my website:

here's what I see

LOL I can't belive this, I'm the only one with this problem....I guess that makes me "unique".

Ack, that is pretty awful. o.O

Quote from: "Nana"No, last year was my first year at Fanime. What did their costumes look like? I'm not familiar with Chocolat or Tira.

So you guys don't think the tube top and shorts are a good idea? The shorts wouldn't be so short that my cheeks hang out, and I would wear extra undies underneath (extra stuff under the top, too). I think I remember a cat girl last year who wore like a regular bikini top, I'd be more covered than that! What about a white tube top and shorts?
Honestly, short-shorts and a tube top sounds fine, to me. I mean, you can see people in less than that on the street. There's a difference between skimpy for the sake of a costume and being tasteless...

If you really are worried though, your best bet would be to ask a hall staff member, they would know for sure, better than our guesses.
I think so long as you keep what my friend jokingly refers to as her "bathing suit bits" covered, you should be alright. And a tasteful bathing suit at that. None of this string bikini nonsense ;P
Yaaay! The new site is up :D
Quote from: "Zain"I think Tony has done enough natural flowing for now.
Has he tried Immodium?

Seriously though, glad to hear the hotel info will be up soon :D
I think there's still plenty of time before Fanime, I wouldn't worry about it dying just yet.
I've got terrible luck with safety pins, and couldn't comfortably rely on them to hold my pants together. With my luck, I'd either end up naked or bleeding. Or both!

But they might work for other people.

Oh, they're usually cancellable? That's good to know :) Thanks!
A lot of more modern/cute animes have easily adaptable costumes.

A big yellow sweater, a little red miniskirt, some dark nylons, and possibly a long wig from any costume store (depending on what your hair is like) and you've got yourself an adorable Naru Narusegawa from Love Hina. A simple yellow sundress from a thrift store and some red hairclips made out of Fimo or something, and voila, Asuka Langley-Sohryuu's signature off-hours look.

Haibane Renmei also has a lot of easily created costumes, all you'd need is some grey feather wings and a halo, which you can get at most costume stores, and pretty much everything they wear can be bought at a big chain or thrift store. Reki (the one standing up) in particular would be quite easy to pull off.

Actually, now that I think about it.. I may just do Reki for the fun of it. My hair is just about right..

It's more that I need to secure the funds for a plane ticket first. T_T Kinda useless to make a hotel reservation if it ends up that I can't afford to fly down there.

Awesome, thanks. I looked in there but I guess I missed that. :) I'm still a broke unemployed shmuck so waiting a few more days isn't the end of the world for me, I wouldn't have been able to make my reservation yesterday anyway. Hehe.

At the risk of sounding like a pest, weren't the hotel reservations supposed to go up yesterday?
Seeing as how Eugene is the special projects direcor and has been in charge of the Masquerade before, and this "rumour" has been announced in several forums, and the whole rumour thing is being waaaay over-emphasized, I'm thinking it's already official and being presented like this to build up anticipation.

edit: Killed some typos.
Awesome, thank you. My friend is absolutely not into cosplay, but I'm pretty sure I could coerce him into wearing a mask of some sort.
I've actually just watched the first two episodes of Bartender, and it's touching me in a way no anime has in a very long time. The introspective, slightly melancholy but not outright sad mood of it is very much in line with how I'm feeling internally, for a host of reasons.
Would regular black & white formalwear and a venetian-style mask be acceptable wear, or does it need to be cosplay of some sort?
Quote from: "AnnoyedWabbit"styrafoam or high-density blue insulation foam, covered in multiple coats of two-part epoxy and then painted. This makes a pretty light sword that's also pretty strong. The epoxy is messy but mostly non-toxic. No nasty fumes or anything.

They may not make blatant bad smells or visible fumes, but mixing two-part epoxy and styrofoam can still make you ill, so you should really do it in a very well-ventilated area, or outside if possible.
