Quote from: kill3rsushi on May 25, 2011, 02:27:28 AMThis year, I plan on telling anyone who yells at me the same thing I tell them every year, "I am praying for you." Still, it would be nice to know if there's any real, viable legal action I or any of us can take against personal attacks.
They are sad people, ignorant of the ways of the faith they profess. But they are legally savvy, and are trying to push people's buttons. My take on them is a bit different from the FanimeCon honchos; but I suppose being in the same faith, I have a different insight. They are trying to provoke a response. They have a network of like-minded friends, and would like nothing better than to brag about being "Persecuted Christians". Do you really want to give them that? At any rate, the honchos would have us leave them alone, and I do agree with that. They can't claim that they are persecuted if we leave them alone.

As old as this thread is, I am not going way far back (how many ways can you pronounce 'A' in English?) to find triangles.

My first ever anime crush would be Kino Makoto/Sailor Jupiter from "Sailor Moon".
Others?
Eiko Magami ("Project A-ko").
Mutoh Rikako ("Umi ga Kikoeru").
Chigasaki Mayuko ("NieA_7").
Asano Rin ("Mugen no Junin").
Uchida Suzuri ("Rideback").
Fujieda Ayame ("Sakura Wars"). {Obviously! ;D}
Mizuhara Koyomi ("Azumanga Daioh").
Tanizaki Yukar ("Azumanga Daioh").

Okay, some of them are probably dangerously young for a fella my age, but...

Oh, forgot one:

Elsa de Sica ("Gunslinger Girl").

Because now you're restricting people and telling people what they can and cannot eat. If I want to eat something unhealthy, who are you to tell me I cannot go out and buy it and eat it? Two cartoons have done an entire episode based on this very thing. King of the Hill and American Dad both did episodes about trans fat banning. You're basically saying that it's okay for the government to mandate what we can and cannot eat because some people are too stupid to make rational decisions.

It's not about telling people what they can and cannot eat, it's telling companies what they can and cannot sell.  Big difference.
A logical fallacy? Possibly an appeal to popularity. In any case, similar was attempted by ratification of the 18th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution on January 16, 1919.

There is also a related anime: "Chocolate Underground".    ;D

Things in the Universe / Re: Pet Peeves

People who write "would of" instead of "would've".
People who say, "Me and her went to the store."
People who say. "have ran".

"Me and her would of ran the extension cord under the chairs"? "Me and her" can't do squat, but "she and I" can do most anything.

"She and I would've run the extension cord to the Moon"!   8)

Serious Business / Re: Swatstikas at Fanime?

Quote from: RowanRavensong on May 23, 2011, 09:20:27 AMWell the Bleach Swastika is not tilted like the Nazi's, and if you are cosplayed Bleach I think people will understand...
Manji, the protaganist from Hiroaki Samura's "Blade of the Immortal" (無限の住人) does have a tilted 'manji' on the back of his garment. When I type the Roman letters, 'manji' in the NJ Star Communicator CJK IME program, I am offered three choices, one of which is a swastika with the cross arms bent to the left.

Quote from: bebop on April 18, 2011, 12:54:09 AMsorry, my network of friends in the anime world is very low
Mine is practically non-existent. Some folks I see at a local anime club about once a month, and FanimeCon once a year. But I've worked staff since 2005, and met some good people who also staff (one is even a regular at the local club). Been coming since 1997, and worked as a Vol a couple of years before finding a staff niche. Either way, I have been able to meet people at the con. So do consider it. Hmmm, do they still call it the "Vole Hole" (where volunteer attendees hang out for assignments)?

You've got a globe valve where you should have a ball valve.

Why am I still up at 0200 on garbage night?

Fanime isn't on their schedule!
Probably not on the WBC schedule, but definitely on the other group's schedule. I saw it on their web site; all four days of FanimeCon are listed. Founded by a Fremont, California guy, and no church affiliation that I can find.

Prospect eh? Well welcome to the forums, I represent the otaku at Del Mar.
I used to date a lass who went to Del Mar. She attended around the same time as Adrienne Barbeau. Yeah, I am that old. Almost...ex-gf is a couple of years younger than Adrienne, and I a couple of years younger than ex-gf.
