Hi all~!
I was Oogie Boogie on late night Saturday/really early morning Sunday, and Sunday for part of the afternoon.

I'm looking for pictures of myself along with my friends as the Mayor and Zero.

Thanks in advance!

Honestly, I'll be interested in seeing how the prearranged seating is going to work. What about the people who don't show up?

Additionally, I'm curious as to how you decided who got seating requests versus who didn't. As someone who didn't get their seating request and was one of the people on the site registering when it went up, I'm wondering why someone who might have registered after me might have gotten seating in a space I requested first. (Because looking at the seating chart, there were plenty of spaces that would have qualified for my request, and I doubt everyone before me requested the same thing.)

Regardless, I do appreciate you taking up running the swap meet this year, even if thus far I'm not particularly impressed.

Xeluu, please email me. Thank you.

To be transparent here, Xeluu's request was honored, I think I just need to explain it to them.
EDIT:

The situation has been resolved. It was a matter of pictures and actualities not lining up.

Thank you for the prompt e-mail response!

So long as no major catastrophe happens, there should be three Halloween Town inhabitants visiting this photoshoot.

Here's the bigger question to me: you say he gets anxiety when in close quarters with people:

How much fun is he really going to have at a large convention?

If you go to any panels, chances are he's going to have to sit right next to someone. Dealer's Hall? It's always packed. Artist's Alley? In the past it's kept a good crowd. Cosplay gatherings? Unless you're going to a mini one that's somewhere out of the way, it's going to be crowded.

Before you look at switching your hotel, I think you need to sit down and talk with him and figure out if it's even going to be worthwhile for him to attend.

And I really do mean this in the nicest way possible, but if he can't handle having a two people (I'm assuming you're not room stuffing.) and yourself in a hotel room with him, I really don't think the convention is the best idea.

My thought would be to see if you can find someone who wants the room from you instead. According to CMR you should be able to change information up until the 14th. That way you'll have another happy fan, and you'll have your funds intact. (This might not be possible, but something to consider.) Realize, if you just cancel through the hotel, it's unlikely another fan will get that room, much less at the convention rate.

Question!
I noticed you're cracking down on items matching what you've listed on your form this year, and additionally that you're requiring a copy of said form when registering.

How strict are you going to be on that? Do I need to list each item separately? Can I list things in general categories (i.e. plush, trading cards, action figures, manga, etc.)? And if I found extra items, could I list them on the form I'd be handing in day of, or would I simply not be allowed to sell those things?

Thanks in advance for your response!

As someone who attends school and works weekends, please, PLEASE don't change it to a weekend. At least if I had to, being in college, I could step out of class for a few minutes to register for a hotel room, there's exactly a 0% possibility of being able to do this if I'm at work.
Additionally, with the talk of CMR housing being an outside company, are they even available to help on weekends? If anything, I'd say perhaps instead of opening hotel registration in the afternoon, try opening it in the late afternoon or early evening. (But again that begs the issue of whether or not CMR customer service will be able to help at those hours.)
Just my own two cents. I know that no matter when you have hotel registration, someone will be unhappy. I mean, it's not like everyone has a life or something. We all just sit around and watch anime and play video games all day, right?

Right?

Guys?

I can answer this as someone who has stayed at the Marriott many years running, with varied levels of status with Marriott...

In regards to breakfast and the lounge, it will be open up until about noon on Friday, closed until Sunday night where it will open again for dessert. So you'll have breakfast Friday and Monday, and if you're there Thursday you'll have dessert then too. (It might close Friday night, but I'm not 100% certain.) The lounge is locked over the weekend, so no, it's not accessible.

Regarding an associate's award, I would assume that they have lockout days, particularly at this hotel as it will be BOOKED solid. (I seem to recall this regarding a friend who used to work for a different Marriott location and was trying to book a room for Fanime this way.) Things could have changed, or I could be recalling incorrectly.

Did you get some sort of confirmation e-mail after you registered? That should be enough, just bring that :)

Marisa

I actually have not gotten any sort of e-mail confirmation. When I e-mailed registration for another issue (getting my sister's and my badges paired for easier pick up since we both registered last year at con) I never received any response.
I'll be doing my best to try and get my badge, but as the convention draws closer, I'm definitely getting a bit worried.

Update!
For those of you who may have registered at con last year and have the same issue, go as though you're going to log in to the registration page, and use the lost password option with the e-mail you registered with.

Hey Marisa,
So, I know we need proof we've registered for Thursday night this year, I actually am a bit concerned since registration isn't opening til later. I know myself and someone else selling this year registered last year on Monday, so without getting in line early to ensure I get my badge, is there any way I can prove I registered? I'll likely e-mail registration again, but I still haven't gotten a reply after my first e-mail.

Just trying to get things finalized before the convention next week. I'm getting excited~!

Also, thank you for looking into another venue for the swap meet. I know I'll personally feel a bit better about going to the Fairmont than going to a building behind the theater.

Hi there,
Just as the topic says, I've been waiting to preregister a friend of mine since we wanted to put her name under mine so it would be easier/more streamlined to pick up the badges.
The problem is, since I registered at con last year, I don't have an account here yet (or at least to my knowledge I don't...) so there's no way for me to do this.
Likewise, it would be nice to be able to put my sister's badge under my name as well (she registered right after me at con last year.).
So, who do I need to e-mail to work this out? Or is it even possible to work it out?

Thanks in advance,
K. Macdonald

As a long time buyer/seller of the swap meet, I've gotta say I'm displeased to hear about the move of location. As a seller, lugging everything to and from the hotels and back is a major concern of mine. PARTICULARLY if we're ending the swap meet late at night as usual. I know I personally won't feel comfortable dragging all of my stuff back after around 9PM, much less 12:30AM.

Well, I'll shop there as usual, but I've gotta say this puts a damper on wanting to sell. (Not your fault, I know, but it needs to be said.)

Give people some time, most people aren't cruising the forums regularly right now. You'll probably have more luck with responses when we get closer to con.

Staff & Volunteers / Staff Badges versus Attendee Badges
September 12, 2011, 12:03:18 AM
Hi all,
Just a thought I had towards the end of this year's Fanime. This year with the darker colors of the badges, it was very difficult to determine who was staff versus who was just a regular attendee.
A thought I'd presented, was to have staff badges laid out in one direction (either horizontal or vertical) and to have the attendee badges laid out in the opposite direction. That way even at a distance it'd be easier to determine who was staff versus who was a regular attendee.

Just my two cents.

Hotel Name: Marriott
Would You Book Next Year: I'm planning on it.
Pros: I was in a junior suite, the room was very spacious, the miniature seating area/sofa bed were a nice touch, and the layout of the room was very nice. (I was finishing a cosplay in it on Friday.)
Cons: Elevators as usual, so I just took the stairs. No lock on the bathroom, safe is small, so I had to angle my laptop to make it fit.
Special Notes to Share: I've stayed here the past few years, but have always been happy. Requested a low floor and they gave me the 8th (o_O Really? That's a a low floor?), went back down and asked if it was possible to get a lower floor (I'm a rewards member with them) since I'd be carrying a large prop up and down the stairs to help with the elevator situation. They moved us down to the 5th floor.

Only other "issue" was the idiots who pulled the fire alarm around 12-12:30 on Sunday evening/Monday morning. Had never seen the bay doors to the elevators close, so it was quite the surprise. (I was standing waiting for the elevator at the time.)

The Marriott is my hotel of choice, simply due to the location, and when I visited a friend at the Hilton a few years back the hallways and rooms just seemed too dark. If it wasn't for the distance though, I'd try the Fairmont.

Okay, NOW I have all the gathering photos uploaded.

And I should be there next year as Maka again, either same as last year, or if I'm really feeling it I might do Spartoi Maka.

To start us off!

There was this one Aladdin cosplayer who I met at the friday speed dating and then saw a bunch of times around the hallways. His name is Kaya/Caya/Kaja/Caja/howdoispellthis ( pronounced kaiyah) He was awesome to say the least.

Then there was another girl with glasses and red hair who wore a tutu/petticoat and tons of kandi and we met so many times but I forgot her name! ;-;sorz
If she sees this, I was with the blue panda guy.
Hey, I know that Aladdin, and have told my friend to inform him that you've posted here.

That's pretty much just filled with Soul Eater pictures, from the Gathering or Otherwise. :D

Hope to see you all again next year, it was a LOT of fun!

i was on the 26th floor looking out the window with my girlfriend when suddenly we saw the doors close O_O  we thought it was a ghost.

then as we rode down the elevator we heard the alarm between the 10th-14th floor

scary
Hey! :D I was the girl upstairs with you waiting for the elevator when the door's slammed shut. Hope you enjoyed the rest of your con!
