Hi guys!
I was the Maka from Soul Eater with the huuuuuuuge scythe.

I'd love to find some pictures of myself (especially in the giant group from Saturday!)
I'll post a reference picture in the morning when photobucket is done uploading it.

Got hit with PCD super hard when I was leaving this year. It was just about all I could do to keep from crying on the drive home.

I met some of the most amazing people this year, and it sucks to think that I won't see them until MAYBE next year, and even then maybe not since a good handful of them were from out of state.

I think I can honestly say that Saturday was the most amazing day I've had in all of my Fanimes (started 03ish?), and even in the past year or so, so it's quite the let down to be back home.

Luckily, I have their contact information, so hopefully I'll be able to keep in touch with all of them.

Mari-senpai, Crona, Maka, Soul, Stein, Spirit, <3 you guys.

Hi all!
I was the Maka with the ginormous scythe. :3
I had tons of fun this year! I'm uploading my photos to photobucket from the gathering (Made my sister take them), so I'll be posting them up sometime tomorrow/today.

Hi all!

Looking for pictures of myself as Maka from Soul Eater. I wore the cosplay Sat-Mon, and was the one carrying the GIANT scythe. (As in, it was taller than I was, and considerably larger than all the others.)

I know on Saturday I was running around with a huge group of Soul Eater cosplayers, so any pictures of that would be wonderful too. :3

And today I was running around with Mari-senpai and Crona.

I've already found a few pictures of my friend in a few of your albums, so I'll enjoy getting to continue to find stuff like that. I honestly didn't take many pictures this year except the Soul Eater gathering, but I'll get those uploaded onto photobucket some time tomorrow.

While I doubt you'll see it before tomorrow:

angeljibrille:
I know you say we shouldn't line up before 5PM tomorrow, but what time will you start admitting the sellers? I'm wondering since I may be selling by myself tomorrow, and will be attempting to grab dinner before getting in line.

Thanks in advance, even if you don't see it,

General Convention Discussion / Re: ID question
May 23, 2011, 02:07:18 PM
For the 18+ events you may have an issue. I know in past years they'd sent a few people to ConOps, and then ConOps had to clear them through, but that was a few years back. You may want to find/e-mail the specific section of staff that deals with IDing for the 18+ events. (Not sure who that is, you'll probably want to wait for a mod/staffer to direct you.)

There's the old thread on the concept of Yuri related events. The second page really brings up the points of why something like Yuri bingo wouldn't work.

Sure! So, as it's explained, the game is bingo, where it's 50 cents per bingo card, or 5 for $2.00. The game is played normally until someone gets a bingo, at which point everyone groans (it's true!) and they get their card checked. If they are a winner, they go up, draw a capsule/number out of a box, which relates to a prize. The prize is given and then either A) they get to choose which Bishie they want to strip (this was one year, they've got mostly back to the other option) or B) (more likely) they draw a name out of a box, and said Bishie strips a piece of their costume off/has another Bishie strip them.
This continues until they're down to their skivvies, time runs out, or they run out of prizes.

After each round, the cards that have been used are collected. Write your name on the back, and at the end, they raffle off the remaining prizes via bingo cards. So even if you didn't win you still stand a chance of winning!

Also note, O 69 automatically means each Bishie has to go up and remove an article of clothing.

There will be much cheering/cameras flashing/etc at the event.

There have been discussions in the past of why they don't have a Yuri Bingo. I seem to recall one of the reasons being too much worry for the girls involved, since most of the Yaoicon Bishies can take care of themselves.

Honestly, the only dealer I will buy grab bags from, if at all, is the YaoiCon booth. A few years back I bought one and got a Luffy plush from One Piece, in addition, I've gotten various smatterings of FMA and other similar shows from their bags.
Unfortunately, I also bought one from a different dealer, and it had a t-shirt from a HELLA old video game that no one knew about, as well as a CD soundtrack still in the hard plastic anti-theft case, making it worthless, that was probably the worst use of my money at Fanime.

So, rule of thumb, know and trust your dealer, or don't bother. And don't be unhappy with whatever you get, it's a surprise for a reason. Don't spend your money on it if you have the potential to really regret it later on.
Do the yaoicon grab bags have yaoi stuff in it or no? o: cause it sounds like they don't..
& would you say the value of the stuff you got exceeded how much you paid?
It's a bit of an iffy situation on them actually having Yaoi in them. Honestly, the ones I got didn't have yaoi, but stuff from shows that are popular for couplings. But as to the value exceeding what I paid? Absolutely.
And remember, the actual yaoi stuff you'd want they couldn't put in the grab bags anyway. The grab bags are all-ages. The stuff behind the counter is what has the age restriction and is what most people want anyway.

So we are currently working on a plan for Thursday Swap Meet participants to be able to check in by standing in a special line. This will be for Thursday swap meet sellers *only*.

I will post more details once we work out arrangements.

I will also try to e-mail all the Thursday participants with the information, and I will update the web page and the first post in this thread once I have more details.

Thanks for your patience :)

Marisa

Thank you Marisa!
I know myself, along with many others will be looking forward to this information.

I have a (hopefully) quick question though: both my sister and I were planning on selling in the same space together, and we've registered as a "group" with my name first. Hopefully it should be as easy as having me get in the line and picking up our badges?

Again, thank you for all that you do for us,
-Kristi

I didn't have any problems dragging up all my stuff, but both my sister and I had everything in those nice big tubs/moving boxes, so when it was time to move we just dragged/pushed our "tower" of stuff.

I did laugh though, last year about 20 seconds after I put a wall scroll out while setting up, it was already being sold. XD

Only other question: last year we brought one of those folding chairs people use at parades, that won't be a problem to bring again this year to sit on while selling, right?

I'd rather just see a sign up go up around 10:30PM, most people are still able to be awake at that point, while those of us with night classes/who work retail are generally home at that point.
I'm getting an Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long, which seems to be an issue when the site is set up as HTTPS but is trying to read/access it as HTTP? I'll be honest, I don't understand it, but I googled the code, and it seems like it's an error on the set up of the site.

Hey Angel: If the site doesn't go up tonight, will you be announcing when it will be going up? Or will it wind up being a stealth launch?

So I do have a question.

Why the change in how you check in? Prior to last year when I sold it was a first come first served for spaces in order of who lined up first. Last year's change was a big surprise, as my sister and I had lined up right at 5pm, and essentially had wasted 3 hours waiting for a good spot only to be told to move to wait until our number was called. Friday we knew about the change, so we didn't bother lining up early, but it was very frustrating on Thursday. (Not to mention on Friday someone was already in the spot we'd been assigned, so we were moved. XD )

Again, just curious as to why this change? I can see how it would be easier for the staff running it to check people in, but if you have a list with names and numbers wouldn't it be nearly as easy to just pull the people who lined up first and ask them for their number?

Sorry, bit long winded here, I really do enjoy the swap meet, it's allowed me to off load a buncha my old things that were just taking up space, along with allowing me to find some things I'd given up looking for/didn't know existed.

Woops, ignore this, saw the new stickied post.

One other thing:

I can't recall if this works at any of the hotel elevators at/around the convention center, however, if someone presses all the buttons, try pressing the Call Cancel button. I know of a few different elevators where this cancels the floor selection.

Can't recall if the Marriott has that or not. Regardless, I once got in a Marriott elevator where someone had pressed all the buttons. At about the 6th floor it cleared all the selections itself. This was a few years ago though, so I'm not sure if it's still true.

Hopefully this isn't too much of a thread necro.... Just a thought, and I have no idea if it's plausible or not....

Maybe set up an actual line for the elevators in Marriott/Hilton? They've got the little rope-dealies that are used in banks and disneyland, and also at the check-in counter. If they have a few extra perhaps they could actually set up an elevator line in the hallways.

There were multiple times where my sister and I were waiting for an elevator only to have one of us not get a space since everyone would bum-rush the second the doors opened.

Also: on Monday please please PLEASE try and accommodate people who are attempting to get on the elevator if it's just them and one item. There were multiple elevators that I saw go by that could have fit one more only to have people scream at me to take the stairs or that it was full. I know it's busy and a stressful time, but there's no reason to be rude.
