Do you think it's time to get a new arcade supplier?

I understand that On Campus Entertainment has a great relationship with Fanime, but they have the same arcade games for the last 5 years (at least), plus all were still .50 to 1.25 to play. Because I can still play console and PC games for free, ever thought of making the arcades free-play? And maybe changing vendors to mix up the arcade cabinets, aka 'new' ones?

As for the all other gaming, I love the layout. But maybe dedicate several more stations only to retro or other consoles. I know it's a con thing, but there's more to gaming than Smash all the time

I've been looking for Dance Evolution Arcade all weekend. Anyone know where it is?
There was?

Any idea of how to improve the bottleneck of crossing the street at Market and San Carlos St? (The Marriott corner)

I was going to suggest shutting down a portion of the street to cars to make it like a farmers market setting, but that would take away bus and light rail. Or narrow San Carlos St into 1 lane and use the closed lane into a spill-over pedestrian walking lane.

For those saying that this was the worst Fanime ever, the common denominator I noticed so far is alcohol and social issues. Those are you and your friends' choices for ir/responsibility, not the convention.

It's only a gripe or complaint if you don't have a badge. It's meant to have the cost of a badge mean something, and prevent those that shouldn't be there. There shouldn't be a complaint about the entrances and exits.

$85 for 5 days worth of entertainment? That's a bargain, even for onsite pass buyers like me. Now just make the arcades free play...

There's a whole genre of anime devoted to martial arts. Watch "Yawara" (124 epsodes). Look up who "Yawara-chan" is, and watch some of her bouts.
And certain dealers dedicated to swords and other weapons. It's a celebration and honor of Japanese art, and martial arts and combat arts are huge parts of culture.

^ Exactly. I really don't want to get political, but public safety should be priority. If anything, what did it do to the image of the city when travelers and guests of honor that came from all over the world see the kind of people on the streets. I'm glad we're not San Francisco though, but it has gotten to that point.

And I'm on the fence with all of the bacon hot dog vendors. Although it always smell good, I don't know about their health/safety of their food.

Again, it's not much Fanime itself can do, although I know they want to help.

YouTubers and Twitch Streamers, since next year's theme is Gaming.

Markiplier, JackSpeticEye, LittleKuriboh and Marianne Miller, Kinda Funny, Fun Haus, Rooster Teeth/Achievement Hunter, That One Video Gamer (the Completionist/Super Beard Bros./the Dex), ProJared (as a real GoH), MatPat of Game Theory, Doug Walker (return), PeanutButterGamer, SpaceHamster, BrutalMoose, Game Grumps/Ninja Sex Party, Ray Narvaez (brownman), Nathan Sharp (natewantstobattle)

And to go back to Kinda Funny, maybe host their Kinda Funny Live show in conjuction with FanimeCon, since they are local.

This was my 18th Fanime in a row...
And my first time back in the forums in over a year

Um, most of that has nothing to do with the convention itself...

I am very happy that I was able to spend time with new and old friends at any time. The convention was very well run and everything that I saw went smoothly (actual convention events).

My highlight: CWF FaniMania
Even though there was a LineCon for FaniMania, everyone was so nice that we were all high-fiving or fist bumping as we weaved through inside. The event itself felt like a big deal and encouraged fan interaction. I lost my voice, haha.

I've been going to anime conventions for a very long time, and FanimeCon 18 straight. The policy of dedicated entrance and exit gates were the best thing to happen at FanimeCon since the move to San Jose from Santa Clara. It drastically cut down on the traffic on the main convention floor (although packed) by only allowing paid attendants there, and allowed access to rooms through any door. From my point of view, F17 was the best run and smoothest run Fanime in a long time, if not ever.

My biggest gripe which it really hasn't anything to do with FanimeCon, is the atmosphere around the convention center between hotels, garages, and the streets in general. The homeless and panhandling crowd has gotten bad and dangerous (and even the hot dog vendors have been a little too much...). I avoid the Santa Clara Street area at all times, and the San Carlos St area near Iguanas/La Vic has been getting bad too. Druggies, homeless, hecklers, harassers, etc... has made San Jose an unwelcoming place, especially at night. It has become an eyesore just walking from Marriott to Fairmont, and that's just across the street.

And speaking of 'across the street', any way to improve crossing the street at Market/San Carlos (Marriott corner)?

I am not sure what can be done from the convention's point of view. The convention center and hotels themselves are the safest places to be 24 hours a day. What can be done to make sure downtown San Jose is safe?

EDIT:
And for the record, I'm a 31 year old male.... I can only imagine how it's like out there for a female teen, even in a group of friends.

I think November is still too late. There should at least be a mention of 2016 by now.

WEBSITE (again)

Is it possible to at least update the main site to FanimeCon 2016? Nothing is too early anymore (plus it would be a perfect way to show us that staff is working hard as of now). Plus, there are threads asking when and where FC is. It's already time for an update.

WEBSITE
-Main point that I would like touched is updates and information on the main website. For 2016, I hope to see at least some progress made for next year. At least a splash screen, logo, countdown, and the usual information (hotels, location, etc...) as soon as possible in 2015. Hopefully very soon. Update now ~?

Back in 2007, there was Play! happening at the same time at the CPA during Fanime. I'd like there to have another video game concert, even if it's not Fanime's doing. Play!, Video Games Live, Pokemon Symphonic Evolutions, Legend of Zelda, or anything like that.

Believe it or not, you can reserve hotel rooms now for 2016. There's no special housing rate, but at least you have a reservation.
