Non-duplicates would be preferred in an attempt to get as many different characters as possible. There's no problem with it of course; I don't want to try push you in any way, I'm just sayin, if you were unsure about your character at all... I'll be there as either Komachi Onozuka or Yumemi Okazaki, I haven't completely decided which one yet.
Any ideas on a time, date and location yet?
Well, considering http://forums.fanime.com/index.php/topic,12405.0.html is still empty, I have no idea when we'll be, since we have to wait for bigger groups to choose first. I'm hoping Sat at 3pm or something convenient.
If it ends up being on Saturday then I probably won't be able to make it, but I'm also genuinely surprised at how big this gathering is looking like so far, especially compared to last year.

I think that I will go with Komachi. It seems a lot easier to transport a scythe around than a big glowing cross.

And plus you have the people on the cosplay.com forums, and then we've still got more than 3 months until the convention and more people are bound to sign up, and I know about 10 more people that havent signed up on either board that are planning touhou cosplay.

I still have leftover blue cloth from my Cirno cosplay last year and I have a white shirt that I separated the sleeves from that I was going to use for a Hatsune Miku cosplay, so I guess I'll be KOCHIYA SANAE! >:D It's so perfect because I'm the same age as her! ;D *hopes no one else is Sanae*
But the only problem is my hair. I can't afford am not allowed to get a wig and my hair is like Reimu's so maybe I'll cosplay as Reimu cosplaying Sanae?
Well we don't have a Sanae, but since you're almost done with your Sakuya cosplay, you don't have to change now...

Well I doubt we'll be able to avoid doubles, especially for the more popular characters. I know at least 3 people coming as Cirno, maybe more. And I know two people planning on coming as Shinki... you know it's going to be a huge gathering when you have a double of a PC-98 character.
StarPikachu, don't be discouraged just because there's somebody else planning on cosplaying the same thing. Choose whatever cosplay you want, instead of compromising and likely having less fun because of it.
Okay, Satori is a definite and I might bring along my dude friend as male Koishi (Broishi ::))
Also now that it's back up, make sure to coordinate with the people in the Cosplay.com Touhou gathering thread (http://www.cosplay.com/showthread.php?t=192075) and agree on a meetup date... I know some attendees here wanted Saturday afternoon and I think the Coscommers are looking at Sunday.
Wow, this is going to be such an immense gathering. Put me down for Murasa and hopefully I'll have my friend as Chiyuri with me.
So right now, I'm working on my Utsuho Reiuji cosplay, so I'm sorry that I'm a double of another character... :'(
I'm also working on a Kaguya Houraisan, so I'm sorry to both of the Utsuho and Kaguya cosplayers, but now you both will have twinsies.

Really guys, don't sweat the whole "doubles" thing. Its unavoidable and nobody is really going to care; we're just glad to have so many attendees this year! So don't feel bad at all about it. I can't wait to see everyone! Fanime is coming up way too fast... Luckily I'm almost done with Suika; just need to make the skirt for the most part. Oh, and the dangly-ornaments that hang from her wrists.
...only doubles I'm worried about is a potential "double gathering" :P Did we ever reach a consensus with the Touhous on Cosplay.com?

Sorry about all the confirming/unconfirming my appearance at the gathering. Last minute change: I will NOT be going. (Fanime is a waste of time and money. You're in high school now, so you need to focus on your future. You already have 2 B's and you tell me you want to go to Fanime and not study? At this rate, you'll never get a scholarship, etc. etc.)
Guess I'll sing Bad Apple next year. If I can go...>_> I'll still be Sanae, and I'm worried there's going to be a double next year and this is the first Fanime after the Bad Apple Shadow Style PV, so I REALLY wanted to go this year. Oh well, next year I'll be 16 so maybe I could volunteer? And hopefully, I'll have a wig by that time because if I went this year, I'd look like an IN Reimu cosplaying as Sanae.

This was easily my favorite gathering this year. Thanks everybody for making it awesome! I still can't believe how huge it was. I was too drunk stupid to find the panels though, so I missed them.
Great gathering, it was a lot of fun -- I loved both panels as well. :) I've got some misc pictures of Touhou cosplayers I bumped into in the halls but no pics of the gathering, so I'd love to see them if anyone has any.
Hey everyone, thanks for coming! I wasn't even expecting this many people. Up until the gathering itself, I had a SUPER tight schedule. Well, working on all those cosplays was definitely worth it, and all of my friends made Fanime very touching for me. :'(

Wow, look at all these pictures! Thanks for posting them. My friend went to Fanime, but she had another gathering at almost the same time, so she didn't take many pictures of this gathering. (But, she got me a souvenir: a Sanae button. Although, she didn't know what her name is, so she was like, "Where's the person you fight in Touhou? You know, the one with the green hair and the frog and snake in her hair?)
The gathering was indeed huge this year, compared to last year when there was only ~15-20 or so cosplayers. That number at least doubled this year. Makes me feel even worse for missing it. *inserts many pictures of Parsee gazing jealously* If nobody is going as Sanae next year (I HATE being a double), I'll work hard to keep my grades up and hopefully will be able to go. Hope the gathering next year has even more characters! We'll have to keep working until we have all characters cosplayed! (Which is pretty unlikely, considering the sheer number of Touhous...)
Eh, sorry for ranting like this, but my ranting is just to openly express and get rid of my disappointment. I'll probably be doing it for a while, if you don't mind.
