Hear what from? I said he still releases stuff, but in general he's not viewed as a musician half as much as he's viewed as a TV personality now. I'm assuming you mean "who did I hear that he's more of a TV personality from", and I would say, no one and everyone... because that's what he is. He's on Variety shows 5 times a week, and it's just to be there as a guest, in the same way people like Hoshino Aki and Yuko Ogura are (because they really can't be considered gravure idols anymore, despite still doing some gravure stuff). The general populace knows them for being TV personalities more so than they are for their music/modeling stuff now.

I like Capsule and all, but have they done anything even remotely related to anime?

Hm...I wouldn't go as far as to say that. Yes, he's popular on t.v. because he's entertaining in general, to fans and non-fans alike, and he says and does random and funny things. Those that are fans watch him because they follow his music, and those that aren't watch him because he's simply entertaining. Being on t.v. ≠ "not working on music". You can go to the studio for a few hours in the day time, and go to a television studio at night. Many musicians do this, and they may even go on t.v. shows when touring. As I said before, he's been working on a lot of tracks recently in addition to doing his RR2 Tour, so he has a lot of reasons to promote himself on t.v., as well as the fact that his 36th single came out just last month.  As for the gravure idols (former or not), we all know why they're there, haha. Then again, if a gravure idol wants to quit gravure and not go in the *other* direction, it's probably a good idea to get herself on t.v. or get into acting if she wants to stay relevant.

Capsule doesn't have an anime relation unless you count their 3 animated PV's by Momose Yoshiyuki (of Studio Kajino), but they do have one to manga. They did the first soundtrack for the Drama adaptation of Shinobu Kaitani's Liar Game manga, and they are also doing the soundtrack for the show's second season. However, considering that we've had previous guests such as Kamijo, Mothercoat, Karma Shenjing, and Blood, I don't think the fact that they don't have (well known) anime ties will completely diminish one's interest.

And about 500,000$

Besides, he's not even considered a musician anymore despite releasing songs occasionally (and December Love song like 149823985325 times). He's a TV personality now.

Probably true about the money thing, since some of the expenses often come from his own pocket.

Who did you hear that from? His 10 year anniversary was last year, so he released 4 singles just for that...His latest album, Re:born,  came out just last month, followed by a new single, Setsugekka. He also did a soundtrack for a pachinko game called Gladiator. The soundtrack used older songs, but many of them were new recordings. Of course, this does not include all the Kamen Rider singles...
Haha, I suppose you were joking, and I just happened to fall into the trap? XD

Anyway, back on topic, I'd really like to push for Capsule this year. I noticed there are others in the forum who have requested them too, and although I'm not sure exactly how many of the attendees are into electropop, I think it'd be a fun show.

I like the idea of Nujabes...It'd be cool if he could perform with Shing02 (who lives in the Bay Area) as well.

I'd also like to request:

Perfume
Capsule (seems more likely because it's just Yasutaka and Toshiko)
Yuya Matsushita (r&b/urban pop, played Sebastian in the Kuroshitsuji musical)
Soil & "Pimp" Sessions (crazy club jazz band)
Lotus Juice
Tokyo Jihen or Shiina Ringo

I'd request Gackt, but since he likes to go all out, I think he'd need at least a year in advance, haha.

Well... although I'm pretty new to anime conventions, I've been a loyal fan of J-Pop music for some time; and if you're willing to consider it, I'd like to recommend a certain music group that could play at FanimeCon 2009.

They're a duo named Halcali. They're not particularly famous but have been steadily gaining notoriety in the last few years. The two are a pretty fun and spirited group, with their songs focusing on pop, hip-hop, or some combination of the two. Halcali's tracks have been featured in several animes ("Tip Taps Tip", 3rd ending theme in Eureka Seven / "Long Kiss Good Bye", 7th ending theme in Naruto Shippuden, etc) and they've been performing at various anime conventions worldwde.

You can see an example of their on-stage performance here (it's a clip from a recent concert):
http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=EB5186DCE55559C3&playnext=1

Or if it's more relevant, you can see them performing at an anime expo (this one in New York) here:
http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=9E77441A69110726&playnext=1

If this group interests you, please consider inviting them to the FanimeCon this year. They said in an interview (this one to be precise *link*) that they are interested in visiting other cities of the U.S., just send them an invite. And that's why I'm posting this today... in the hopes that Chicago's and New York's conventions aren't the only ones picking up Halcali, but something closer to my California home.

I do think this group is personable and fun enough to make a great stage presence at Fanime's concerts, and that their music is upbeat and unique enough to keep attendees talkin' and blogging about the experience long after the expo. Although I'm not sure how seriously you can take the word of an obviously-biased fanboy like me ;D, I do really think they'd fit in great here. Hope you consider it.  :)

I second that! Baby Blue is my jam, hehe^^ I haven't been as much into their new material as I was with their older stuff, but I'd definately go and see them. They have a really fun sound, I think a lot of people would enjoy them^_~

I'd also go for Soil & "PIMP" Sessions as well as ONE OK ROCK, and anything to do with Yasutaka Nakata^^

ehh I wouldnt say novala Takemoto (or should I say TOKEmoto) will be doing a US debut again sometime soon after his release from prison for having/using marijuana, since then Baby has pulled every collab they did with him saying "we had nothing to do with this lol" so hes trying to rebuild his reputation again.

Yeah, I heard about that when it happened, but about a month ago I was flipping through a Gothic Lolita Bible, and saw a BTTSB ad with him in it. I don't remember whether or not it was an English or Japanese version, but I'm pretty sure it was recent, so it got my hopes up, hehe. If it was recent like I thought it was, then it was probably just a reprint in an English version from one of the original/older bibles. I guess there's always waiting until after he's served his prison sentence, haha.

As for Se7en, I heard about the single release party this weekend, so hopefully it won't be so low key anymore, because his management & label seems reluctant to make it official yet...They recently shot the "Girls" video with Lil' Kim, so maybe by the end of the month they'll give us some actual dates for the single >__<  I don't know how well BoA's thing in the US is going to pan out, but it at least looks like SM has a better idea than YG of how to market here ;__;

I think it'd be lovely to have Baby The Stars Shine Bright come (or if Novala Takemoto came as well). Considering Viz's connection to them as well as the fact that they're based in San Francisco, it'd be good promotion^_~

As for mangaka, I'd really like to meet Kazuya Minekura. I know she's busy with Wild Adapter again, but it doesn't hurt to ask, right? haha.

For an anime related guest, I'm requesting Michael Arias (Tekkon Kinkreet film adaptation).

For music, Capsule would be awesome, but I suppose they're a "dream list" request...I also think Se7en would be good (yes, I know he's Korean). Even though he's working on his US debut, it doesn't look like his management has been promoting him much, so I think it'd be a good idea to have him at Fanime. It'd also be nice if Karma Shenjing could come back. The last time I saw them was at JrockCon, as I was somehow uninformed about the concert last year T___T

Registration / Issues with confirmation
December 30, 2006, 03:53:38 PM
I'm having a little issue regarding the confirmation info, and I'm hoping someone can help me before December 31st ;__;
Basically, my problem is that I registered a while ago, and now I am sending my check (I'm a poor college student), but I can't find the confirmation that was sent to me earlier, and I don't want to send the check without it. I generally print it out as soon as I get it, but for some reason I don't have it printed out, nor is it in my saved mail. I sent an email to registration about my problem, but they just sent me my account name and password, which I already knew. I logged in to my account to see if I could access the confirmation into from there, but I don't see anything. I thought I could maybe I could copy and paste my account info, since it has my account number on it. I sent a second email about my problem, but since it takes a while, I thought I'd post here. Anyone know?

I don't know if I mentioned her before, but Kazuya Minekura would be awesome^_____^

It'd be nice if we could get Sanami Matoh for next year, since she couldn't make it for 2006

I think I've (or even just Kotoko) would be a good idea, and I'd be extremely happy if Gackt could come^__^

Panels and Workshops / Otaku Manners panel?
June 02, 2006, 04:06:05 PM
Hm... yeah, maybe it'd be a good idea to put a handout about etiquette in the bags they hand out at registration.  They do something similar to this at Yaoicon, and everyone who registers is required to read it, so if someone does something they know they shouldn't be doing, it's easier to call them on it.  If we have handouts, we can ensure that everyone will be aware of what proper behavior is, whether or not they go to the panel...

Panels and Workshops / Otaku Manners panel?
June 01, 2006, 11:35:44 PM
That's a really good idea!

I think another thing to bring up is behavior in the video rooms; I was in the yaoi room with my friends, one of which was watching "Boku no Sexual Harrasment" for the first time. However, she didn't really get to enjoy it, because some people in the back were practically yelling to eachother, along with this guy sitting behind us. My friends got rather upset , and I politely asked these people twice to keep down the noise, but they never did, and we ended up leaving in frustration >____<
I don't know if this happens in the other video rooms, and this is the first time I've ever experienced this, but it'd be nice if more people were aware of the fact that some people actually wanna hear what they're watching T______T

Live Programming and Events / Hot Yaoi Nights
April 25, 2006, 10:34:41 PM
Hm...I went to the hot yaoi nights for the past two years, and if I remember correctly, bingo was 16 and up, and the videos were 18 and up...The Inferno involved stripping (just to underwear, hehe), so I can't exactly remember if it was a 16 and up event, but I'm pretty sure the bingo was. Hope that helped a little...

I think it'd be cool if we could get Dir en Grey... Maybe we have more of a chance now that they're playing at SXSW in Texas^^
