Hey everyone. Mew from GR here. I'm just wondering which kind of guest you want to see most at FanimeCon.
Please vote for one of the choices above. If what you want isn't listed, feel free to post a suggestion.
For industry reps and other, please specify exactly what kind of rep/guest (just one, please) you would like to see.
While we will try to keep the results in consideration, please understand that we can't guarantee who we will invite/bring.
PS "Music guests" are not included in the poll cuz that's MusicFest's area. ;)
What about getting G4tv to be there, they always seems to be at conventions and stuff, just an idea.

For what reason? I personally hate G4TV's coverage of things because they totally slanderize whatever they're doing. Be it from lack of knowledge or because they think it's fun... they usually trash whatever events they come to. To them it comes down to two things... losers being losers, and half naked cosplayers. That's all they focus on, and that's all they care about. Since Fanime isn't industry, they won't even be doing anything like "Premieres" or anything special like that, so they'll just say "LOLOLOL Look at these nerds" and "LOLOLOL LOOK AT THAT HOT CHICK".
I honestly have little interest in most English VAs. It's probably because I don't watch the dubs of things very often. Dubs have gotten much much better since I started watching anime, but I still prefer the subs. In that respect I'd prefer Japanese VAs over the American ones. I'd also be VERY interested in some manga artists!
From there, anyone who is hands-on with the creation of series or games.
I'd LOVE to one day see somebody like Anno at Fanime though Yamaga seems like a pretty cool dude. At the very least, I hope 2.0 will be shown whether officially or a fansub. >_>
Other than that, Japanese seiyuu or singers are always nice. Nothing wrong with English voice actors, though I'm just not as interested personally.
Personally, I enjoy the English VAs.
I'd like to see more music guests/preformers.
Composers who work on anime and video game titles...I'd love to see Shoji Meguro at this year's Fanime.
I'd love to see the English VAs too. :)
Within the realm of "Other" I'd like to see a few fans who have done something noteworthy (even if it is rather obscure) Like Team Four Star from the hilarious Dragon Ball Z: Abridged, or Ewen Cluny for helping get the game MAID printed in the US.

Vic Mignogna (Edward Elric from Full Metal Alchemist). I talked to him and he really wanted to attend this years Fanime, but sadly he hasn't been invited yet. He is a very entertaining man and loves his fans and would a fantastic addition to the guests. Vic also said if you are a fan of his he would love your support in becoming a guest. So yeah I'm pushing for Vic Mignogna.
What manga artist would people want to see? I noticed it is the 2nd most wanted topic in this thread.

I agree, I'm actually kinda glad that Fanime hasn't invited guests who constantly go to so many anime conventions every year. So far atleast.

can we please avoid "over-conned" Voice Actors? (you know the ones i'm talking about) and bring in some VAs that don't go to a lot of cons (esp. those based on the East coast)
I'd love to see more Japanese voice actors, Suwabe Junichi, Daisuke Namikawa, and Nobutoshi Kanna in particular.
Though if I had a second vote it would be for mangaka - Tite Kubo and Yu Watase are who I'd love to get a chance to meet in person.

Any voice actor from a major Final Fantasy game would be great (especially Takahiro Sakurai, Maaya Sakamoto and Hideo Ishikawa). Some english VAs like Tara Strong could work as well (when it comes to english VAs however, I perfer ones who have not been to so many anime conventions.) It would be awesome if Fanime could get Nobuo Uematsu or Yoshitaka Amano like what Anime Boston NY Animefest did. I still wonder how they did that.
Motomu Toriyama might be a good choice but I might just meet him @ GDC.
Yasunori Mitsuda would be nice as well.
I would love to have Viz come over and have a portfilio review over at Fanime. After all, they are looking for comic book artists. ;)
Carl Horn works for Viz and Dark Horse. If memory serves me right, he's pretty much at Fanime every single year.
How about The Nostalgia Critic? Considering that video programming showcases a Nostalgia Critic segment and he has a huge West Coast following, this is would an awesome draw for Fanime.
I talked to Doug Walker last weekend at Anime Central. I asked him if he would be interested in attending a West Coast con. He expressed interest so as long as his travel costs are covered. I would love to see Doug at Fanime 2011!

For me the draw is always creators, from Japan. Chiefly directors and designers, animators, and of course manga artists. I'd be really interested in directors and artists whose works have transitioned from manga to anime. These folks are the core of the reason why we're here, yeah? I get that schedules (personal as well as production) can make industry guests hard to schedule, but there have been and will be ways to make it happen. :-)
First off, I want to say that FanimeCon 2010 was FANTASTIC! ;D It was my first convention, and I enjoyed every minute. My main reason for attending Fanimecon this year was to see one of my favorite Jrock acts, LM.C. I was so thrilled when you guys announced that they would be the main musical guest. They definitely did not disappoint, and the Question/Answer and autograph sessions were absolutely glorious!
My friends and I who attended hope you can keep the standards set by LM.C for next year!
As far as musical guests for next year, a Jrock band that I would LOVE to see perform at Fanimecon is Acid Black Cherry. Though the band has only been around for a few years, all the members have been in prior groups and are all skillful and talented musicians. Not only that, but the lead singer is also a big fan of manga and anime, and would probably love to perform at such an event. Fanimecon would be a perfect venue for them to debut their act in the US!

Gonna have to agree with the people who have little interest in English VAs simply because I almost never use dubs ever, except when I'm forced to (video games mostly). An exception would be stuff like the cast of Ponyo simply because they're big names (e.g. Tina Fey, Matt Damon) but they'd also be pretty much impossible to get and would probably be out of place at an anime convention as well.
I'd like more manga artists and Japanese voice actors :D
Would it be possible to get the anime comedian Uncle Yo to come to Fanime 2011? :)

In reply to yours and the other person's post about Vic~ Vic is indeed a wonderful guy who's been out there and done tons of amazing stuff. I've met him a few times, but it kinda makes sense why he wouldn't be coming er invited to Fanime. I mean, he already has made trips a few years in a row down here to Sacanime in the winter, and he's usually overseas this time of year at conventions not in America. I mean hey I love Vic, I'm always happy to see him, but I'd probably die to get to meet a few of the Japanese voice actors out there. :) But that's just my point of view. (-.-')

I know this is really odd, but I'd like see some of the people responsible for creating the stuff watch and enjoy. We had Hiroyuki Yamaga last year, and that was awesome, but I'd love to see some more along the same lines.
Today Nabeshin (Shinichi Watanabe) the Director of Excel Saga and other anime is wondering on his Facebook why USA conventions have not invited him for this year.
Is there a way for Fanime Guest Relations Staffing to invite him over to Fanime Con 2011? I already met him at last years Anime Expo 2010 and he is a very nice and funny guy when I got to know him at their meet the guest reception.
Just a suggestion if Fanime Con 2011 can pull off this miracle as I want other fans to enjoy his company.
Seconding Shinichi Watanabe. He's a cool guy that I had the honor of hanging out with at Anime Central for the reason that I was cosplaying as Fujiko Mine. Friendly guy with plenty of stories; a perfect fit for Fanime.

This topic asks 'which kind of guest' you want to see at Fanime, not 'whom' you want at Fanime. You already posted this comment in the more appropriate topic regarding whom you want to see.
Although Nabeshin was nice at AX, I would prefer meeting other Japanese mangaka or anime artists instead.
I'd love to see some of the online reviewers like people from ThatGuyWiththeGlasses.com. The Nostolga Critic, Jessu Otaku, Spoony, Marz Gurl, Angry Joe, Bennet the Sage, and so on. I can't say many of them can make it since they mostly live on the east coast to the mid west, but it doesn't hurt to contact Channel Awesome, or their own sites about having them there.
The fan side of me wants to meet voice actors, the college student in me wants to meet the businessy people just to ask them for advice on my future XD
It'd be great to meet DC Douglas whom does the voice for Albert Wesker in RE 5 and Umbrella Chronicles, especially since Marvel vs Capcom 3 is out and Wesker is in it. Its not often anyone gets to meet the voice actors for the bad guys since the voice actors for the good guys are always invited.

Personally, I would love to see guests that represent an underappreciated and more unknown side of the anime/game/music industry: the foreigners who work in Japan as translators, composers, lyricists, English vocalists et c. (People like Tim Jensen, Lynne Hobday and Steve Conte...)

We did a panel about this some odd 5 years ago. It didn't go so well. We had, a translator, an editor, localization QA, and a VA director. Only about 7 people showed up and no one asked any questions.
I would definitely like to see more industry panels. Professional VA's, producers, writers, even people from outside the Anime Industry like video game companies. Even, people like Roooster Teeth Productions who have a large following with a diverse group of geeks. I enjoy the for fans by fans style of the convention but I think Fanime has gotten so big that it needs to grow up and start contending with the big boys now.

I so agree with you. I don't mind if Fanime pick big names like Vic Migongna or small names like Justin Cook. Just some one.
Honestly I would like to see a different line up of guest because its seems Fanime is stuck on the same group of guest of honor for the last couple of years. Maybe having some of the people more on the Youtube side (i.e. Team four star or Tobuscus or something along those lines) but it would be something different. I would like to see Hayao Miyazaki because he has really made some great anime movies that everyone even those not into anime can enjoy and relate to.
I would also enjoy seeing Boa Kwon cause she has the most beautiful voice i've ever heard of. Especially when she sang songs for inuyasha and tales of graces.
The other guests i would like to see is more kpop and jpop guests like MBLAQ, Shinee, Super Juniors, Teen Top, Utada Hikaru, June, SS501, Girls Generation, Taeyang, and Yuya Matshushita(again).
I would love to see a rep from Tiger & Bunny, perhaps Hiroaki Hirata? 8D
I'd love to see a fighting game rep like Ishiwatari back in '10. Maybe Mike Z (Skullgirls lead dev)?
I would love to see Mega64 do a panel
I'd love to see Tohru Furuya return again. We're big Kimagure Orange Road fans, but we missed out on seeing him because I came down with a bad case of major headache and had to go home early :(

Just wanted to chime in to say that seiyuu are among the most difficult guests to get. It doesn't really help that FanimeCon is at the end of May when recording for spring series are in full swing and most seiyuu are busy.
Having the KHR(KAtekyo Hitman Reborn) voice actors!(preferably Takashi Kondo) but any voice actors from the series would be beyond amazing!
Hi! Is it okay if we have some Kpop artists that are Jpop artists now too come? Ex: 2PM- they sang the ending song for Aoi no Exorcist (Take off)
I'd also love to see Horikita Maki, Nana Mizuki, Yui Makino, Se7en (he also debuted as Jpop artist so?????), Hayao Miyazaki, Itou, Kanae, Nakamura Yuuichi, Himeka, Utada, Perfume, SPHERE, teppei koike <3 ya.... PLEASE! I would really love Fanimecon forever if 2PM came <3!!! Thank you!

I suggest Joe Hisaishi..even though he is a composer/musician, I'm not sure he would count as a "music guest"..? I say that because if he was a Guest of Honor, I would just love to hear him speak about his life and career as well as working with Hayao Miyazaki.
He has worked with him in his films a lot, and is just an amazing musician. ;u;

I'd love to see some English voice actors. Especially Jay Michael Tatum or Todd Haberkorn. I'm sure some people think they're over-conned, but they seem like amazing people and are really passionate about their jobs. They're also fantastic with the fans.
I feel like there should be more manga-ka at cons. Voice actors/seiyuu are always an obvious one, but I think manga-ka technically don't get enough representation and love (at least here). It'd also be really nice to see more designers, (art) directors and especially writers. Maybe even lite novel writers might be nice!
