Title: How was your hotel stay?(2005)
Post by: Barnes on June 01, 2005, 09:16:51 PM
Since I can't think of any complaints about the con itself right now,  I'll post my complaints about the Marriott:

-Elevators: Way too fast for me, made me dizzy.

-Cooling: The only way I could keep my milk cold was to put ice in the black round thing and change it every few hours. That annouyed me. My mom brought in a foam cooler, but my friend cracked it.

-Bathroom: I like to have a lock on my bathroom door.

My solution: I'm going back to the Hilton next year.

I stayed at the marriott, and loved it.

Except those darn elevators. They made me sick! I'd rather take 3 minutes to get down 23 flights then 3 seconds  :?

But I thought the marriott staff was excellent. Free chocolate, tons of towls, and they put up with all our luggage. After we checked out of the hotel they let us keep our valet parking (no extra charge) and keep our stuff behind the counter.

The breakfast buffet at the Marriott was to die for. But I think we were the only fanime-goers there...after all it was expensive. But we didnt care  :D

Definitly going to the marriott next year!

This was my second year at the marriot and I like the first year better.  They messed up on my room and I ended up with a single bed instead of 2.  But other than that it was fine.  One more thing, does any one remember the special deal which was a room and internet together for the marriot, why wasnt there one this year, but there was the free wifi at the park across the street

They did the same to me, and told me that a single king was all t hat was left. I was able to get 2 beds in a smoking room so it worked out ok.

I was a little irked because they said it was in order of request, and yet I signed up for a 2 bed room from Fanime housing the day it came online!!!

So my question to Fanime housing is what happened?

I stayed at the marriott too, great place and very cushy. I was comfortable. Its nuts though, we trashed the place hardcore but before we left I made sure we cleaned it up and it within a half hour 4 days of damage was no more. Trippy.

Hmmm...good question. I'm not sure what happened with your bedding situation. It was definitely not supposed to be in order of request. This was why there were various categories available (Kings, dbl/dbls, and kings w/rollaways).

The Marriott provided 200 double/double rooms and FanimeCon Housing sold 200 double/double rooms. No more, no less. I can understand that if FanimeCon Housing oversold the inventory, but this was clearly not the case.

Before I go pointing fingers, do you have your confirmation handy so that I can take a look at your reservation?

Also, for future reference, please know that there is someone on site during FanimeCon to take care of your hotel issues. I was located by registration and was also accessible through Con Ops.

Snorlex, you are already on it, but this is the first I have heard of it too.  If the hotel is playing games that we need to know about it.  You paid for a double/double, you should have gotten it.

Counting on what Snorlex says, I might want to have a 'little' talk with them.

Thanks for bringing this up to our attention...

As for the package deal with room and internet in 2004...it was a last minute deal that was made to get people to reserve the king bedded rooms. This year, the package wasn't available but we will try to get this package deal for next year.

Personally, I loved staying at the Marriott ^_^.  I was really nervous about staying there (some might remember my ... "daft" thread >_<), but it all worked out perfectly.  The staff were very polite, the room was lovely, and all in all it was a great stay and at a great price.

I didn't find the elevators troublesome, but my girlfriend hated them with a passion XD.  I suppose it's one of those things, though, that everyone feels different about.

Also, and this could just be my new-ness when it comes to staying in the larger hotels - but I was greatly impressed with the TV packages in the room :p  I was most impressed and pleased with having Cartoon Network and thus Adult Swim.  Ah, got to see my first episode of Fullmetal Alchemist thanks to that.

All in all, if the Marriott/Hilton deal is available next year, I won't hesitate to sign up for it ^__^   Just wish it ended on the Tuesday, rather than a Monday - since I fly in for this, it means I always have to miss the closing ceremonies and fly back that day, or pay tons more for a hotel.  Heh, but that's hardly Fanime's concern, and is just me being cheap :p

Thank you for this info. I looked up your reservation and you were clearly reserved in a room with 2 beds and I'm sorry that you had troubles getting what you requested. I will speak to the Marriott about this and hope this will not happen again in the future.

The only reason why I can see the hotel refusing you a room with two beds is because there was no roommate listed on your reservation, but even though, this should still not have prevented you from getting a room with two beds.

Again, this goes for anyone that has troubles with their hotel rooms...please know that I am on site to take care of problems or concerns. I am usually located in the registration area or you can have Con Ops locate me via cell.

Sorry, I wasn't very clear in what I meant ^^;;.  Sorry about that.  I meant it would have been nice to be able to check out Tuesday morning instead of Monday morning (staying overnight on Monday, as you said) ... >_>  .... Unless of course we could do that and I just screwed it up.  It's entirely possible XD.  Hmmm, but I thought the room deal only extended to the Monday, with a checkout time of noon.  Like I said, it's very possible, heh probably even, that I'm in the wrong... which if I am, is very cool, because next year I definitely plan on catching closing ceremonies ^_^

Really? *shoots self for forcing myself to drive really tired up 101 for 40 minutes* I"ll keep that as a note for next year...

My comments on my stay at the Marriot:

1) Excellent food service. That food is to die for when you got a long day ahead of you: remember, breakfast is the most important meal of the day and it does HELP...

2) I thought I ordered a 2 bed room (ok 2 person)...I got one and I had to call in a roll-in. Maybe for next year, the ordering should be by the # of beds as well...just a suggestion. Also, a couple of my staffers that ordered the 3 or 4 person rooms only got 1 bed...that is a problem indeed...

3) The elevators felt like they were on NOS and at one point, sounded like they were gonna die from the strain of 'Con goers xD;

4) *random* had I known my E-gaming room was at the Hilton side...I would of booked at the Hilton...so I didnt need to take long walks =P

You also fall in the same category. There was no reason why you shouldn't have been given a room with two beds when you checked in. I'm very sorry for these inconveniences and have began communications with the Marriott about this. I don't know why this happened and my only guess is that the Marriott ended up giving out rooms with 2 beds to those that were never booked in one to begin with. I will make every attempt to not have this happen again. Thank you very much for bringing this to my attention.

I stayed at the Hilton.

Room service was horrible, well because- there was no room service. We requested numerous times for extra blankets. They said it was busy the first time- fine. The next few times....in the middle of the night? Um....

My friend, who wanted the extra blankets, went to the front desk to personally ask. They told her that they'll send up someone in 10 minutes, but no one showed up. We ended up pulling the sheets from in between the blankets and the bed for the extra so called blankets.

The cleaning lady always came by. She knocked on our door when we had our 'do not disturb' sign up, so I asked if she can come at another time. I think she got offended. Well the next day she asked, so I said that she may take the garbage, and that's all we really needed. We never got room service, and the garbage was still there. My friend and I had to take the garbage out ourselves, and used leftover safeway bags to use as trash bags.

There was always a constant knocking on our wall too, but that's not the hotel's fault.

Despite all of the bad room service, I didn't think the Hilton was that bad. It was quiet for the most part, and the elevators were speedy. I just wish we had gotten extra blankets when we really needed them.

my big issue is that my bf and his friend CJ got there makeup stolen by the cleaning ladies!

now im kinda iffy about the marriott because like yeah it may be makeup this year, but what about next year, if this happens again, would they steal something else?

oh and the makeup we bought wasn't cheap =X it really disappointed me, i mean we were very nice to the ladies, so why the hell would they steal from us?!?!.... they had comfy beds, and refilled the towels so thats good, i could care less if they straightened up our rooms, there gonna be messy no matter what lol

I'm sorry, but how sure are you that they stole the makeup? I have dealt with hundreds of hotels and it is extremely rare that I hear of housekeeping 'stealing'. Did you report this to the front desk or to the housekeeping supervisor when you noticed that the make up was missing? Could it have been accidentally thrown away or misplaced somewhere else?

Has anyone else had this similar experience at the Marriott San Jose? If so, please step up.

snorlax: because in the time we had left our room it was mess, yet when we came back it was clean with fresh towels, our beds were made and toiletries(sp?) were refilled

the makeup was sitting on the ironing board right in front of the door, so we noticed it right away that it was missing when we had returned to actually USE the makeup we know we didn't misplace it because it was in plain viewing sight for us. but the only people who can get into the room is us, and the cleaning ladies. we obviously didn't steal and we did not misplace it either, because it was right in our faces, and we were only gone for 2 hours.

we reported it and the people said they would 'rectify' (im assuming retrieve the loss makeup) but we never received our makeup, they offered us a free dessert, but come on free dessert compared to 20$+ makeup, but the main issue is that yeah they were trying to cover the loss of our makeup but it's the principal that they stole from guests is the issue, it makes me uncomftarble leaving things there now.

I'm very sorry this happened to you. I've worked in a hotel for 5 years and have been working on conference management with numerous hotels for the past 6 years. I travel quite a bit and have never had any incidents with housekeeping. It's highly unusual that housekeeping would steal, but then again, there's always a bad apple somewhere. I'm wondering if housekeeping might have thrown it away accidentally? Which is no excuse either.

However, I would not let this incident discourage you from feeling safe to leave your things out.  If this was a sleazy motel..then yes, I wouldn't feel safe to leave my things either...but this is a national chain hotel and has a high reputation. Again, I'm sorry that this happened to you and that offering a free dessert does not compensate for your losses. My advice if this should ever happen again to you is to speak to a manager and demand that they either give you a credit off your room bill or have them reimburse you for your loss.

If you have valuables like money or jewelry, please use the safe in the room or at the front desk if there isn't one in the room.

I stayed in the Hyatt Sainte Claire, and I absolutely loved it. I didn't book through Fanime housing, as I made my con plans rather last minute. However I was able to get the con rate non-the-less, and their room service was great, the staff super nice, and matinence and housekeeping prompt. (We had slight toilet issues after three people and mexian food and needed more towels at one point and it took them only 10 minutes to get them up to us.) Hell, they didn't even ding me for the soaked pillow after my roommate drunkenly slept in the tub one night. (Plus, the bathrooms have really awesome ceiling art.)

I'm staying there next year. I don't mind walking across the street in costume.

I stayed at the Hilton.

I'll start with the Cons, since they're what spring to mind...

Cons-

Beds: Oh man.  Did anyone else have big problems with the beds?  We had some relatives in the next room, and they had the same problem.  Basically, they felt old or worn in- the springs were really obvious and they made hideous creaking noises.  One of my friends complained about never being able to get a good night sleep on 'em.

Noise: It's not the hotel's fault, but the congoers (and other guests, I'll presume) were REALLY noisy on our level going back and forth through the halls and waiting at the elevators.  We were closer to the elevators than usual this year and on a lower level, which is probably why, since all previous years it's generally been quiet... Serious bummer.  Made it hard to sleep at times.

Pros-

-Very courteous staff, bellhops and roomservice people.

-Clean, decent setup with the electronics and the heating/cooling systems.

-EXCELLENT room-service.  The food is great, the portions are HUGE, the deliverer was always insanely sweet and courteous.

As a side note, in reference to the stealing that was mentioned in a prior post- I can't say it was exactly the same type of incident, but the one day we let a cleaning lady in, they cleaned -EVERYTHING-, including things we had intended to keep, like a good deal of food that was on the desk.  We were a little perturbed, but it didn't bother us too much since it was the last night (we hadn't let the maidservice in prior to then and hadn't had any problems with them bothering us with the sign up), but I think it might've been related to that- I can't say for certain, though.  I just know that they went over everything, and that only things that were in places that were obviously supposed to be left alone (bathrooms, beds, chairs, side-tables) were actually left alone.

I had a really pleasant stay at the Hilton. No problems whatsoever. We instructed the cleaning ladies to just clean our bathroom since we had a lot of band equipment in the rest of the room. And they did just that and left the rest of the room untouched.

I had no problems with the beds either. I found them quite comfy.

hmm..  i stayed at the Ramada..  it wasn't bad...  the cost was pretty good, since i roomed with three friends.  the only problem was the light in the bathroom kept flickering when i turned it on..  and the sink got stuck once.  xD;  but the staff was very nice, and they fixed the sink for us.  :]  like the poor nerd that i am, the Ramada provided free breakfast, which was also very within my budget.  other than a few bad points, it was pretty good.  no stealing staff here!

the only REALLY bad thing, if you're picky, is that the TV channels are crap.  but then again, if you spend the whole day at Fanime, do you REALLY want to watch TV?  o__o;

I really like the Marriot, the beds are comfy and I always get a room with a good view. This last year I could peep down into the front area by the fountain, very cool. ^^ The elevators really are a pain, they lurch around alot, maybe because they're always packed? I hear the cleaning service was good, but personaly I had everything all over the floor so I kept them out until monday when I left. I didn't want some poor room-keeper so have to step around all my various outfits, merchandise and plushies. I wish they had iceboxes or something, but oh well.

It was for me, cuz some stairs and doors were emergency exits going one way and regular entrances the other way. Going to the room was easy, going down was tiring, I had to go all the way to the end of the floor to use a non-emergency exit door.

I've already posted my problems somewhere, but I'll do it again just for the heck of the thread. (which is apparently almost old, but eh, what can you do?)

-I had the same room problem at the Mariott, with ordering two beds and only getting one, but my roommates and I raised a fuss about it and got it fixed. The only thing wrong, ultimately, was that we got on a smoking floor, but no biggie there. Kind of sad that our room this year was smaller than last year's, but there's nothing to be done about that, since it slept the same number of people.

-All of you complaining about the lack of cold drinks? You can request a mini-fridge at the front desk at the Mariott. We got one, and it worked great. :)

-Never noticed anything with the elevators, other than that one that broke.

DayDreamerNessa, if you left your makeup near the door, maybe someone just came by and took it. I'm not saying it definitely wasn't them, but it's just another idea. Housekeeping leaves the door wide open when they clean, after all.
They do kind of clean with a vengeance, though... they threw away my plastic baggie that I used to carry my toothbrush...

I stayed in the Marriot and thought it was fine ^___^ I also had the bed-issue, but I called a few days before con to make sure they got my rooming straight, at which time I fixed the problem. Yay =]

Two questions:

First off, did anyone else have the 2 person+ room but only one bed issue in the Hilton?  I only found posts in this thread about the Mariott, but just checking...

Second... Snorlax... Did you ever find out anything official about what was going on with the Mariott?  I don't know about anyone else, but personally I'd avoid staying there just because of these problems I've been hearing if there's even a risk that it could happen again the next year...

I stayed at the Hilton....(I think that was the one right next to the con), and it was GREAT!! I shared the room with 4 people, but it was a lot of fun. It also costed a lot less then I would have thought it would....but we probably got some sort of Fanime discount thingy ^^;

This year though I'm thinking about getting a room with myself and maybeh someone else....mostly because I'm planning on crossplaying, and it'd be a little embaressing to share a room with the others....ESPECIALLY since one of them is a guy I know irl who I don't think would approve n stuff @.@

Wow, I had no idea.  Not just southern california, then?  I live in a very old house, so we don't have that problem... But we have crappy water pressure anyway, for some reason.  It was worse when we first moved in, but it's been improved since.  Really a shame...

My friends and I stayed at the Hyatt Sainte Claire and it was wonderful. The hotel is gorgeous, and the art in the bathroom is amazing. The staff was great and we parked our car for the whole weekend and didn't have to pay that much. It was a short walk to the convention center and well worth the price. We're planning to stay here for 2006 because it was so nice.

Fanime 2004 I stayed at the marriott

Fanime 2005 I tried the Hilton.

In my opinion the marriott was much better.  I paid about the same amount of money if I remember right and got a much large room. It had a huge closet, tv, two beds, a little cubicle room attached with a desk and a huge bathroom.  Maybe I was just lucky that thats the room we got but I paid the regular amount.

Last year, I was at the Marriott. And, the elevator got jammed (or was it another con? I don't remember too well). One person said that she would walk up to to her room, which would probably be 14 flights of stairs up. Besides that, the stay was good.

I just don't really like the lack of pressure the showers give..but hey, I can live with that. ^_^ ...I kinda don't like the fact the bathrooms don't have LOCKS on them..*cough* But I can deal with that as well. ;P Simply make a "Occupied/Vacant" turn-over sign to put over the knob...and just pray people read!

Post by: ip136 on March 26, 2006, 09:23:30 AM
Ou... I never noticed this post until today.
Well!

I stayed at the Marriot last year and it was flat out horrible. First, upon coming into the very room, the lady assumed that I was underage and needed a guardian to be signing everything. She checked my ID like.. 3 times to make sure it wasn't 'fake'.
. . .
Then, we had originaly requested 2 rooms with double beds that connected. Because we got there half an hour after they started letting people book rooms (This is the night before the con BTW), they said that we came too late and were not able to give up conjoined rooms. So instead of you know.. just putting us in rooms NEXT to each other, there was a room between us.
. . .
Next, after starting to set-up Camp in one room, my bf went to check out the other room. It was not a double bedded room, but a KING Sized bed. At this point (after them also saying they had to take almost $700 ontop of of everything on my card for a 'deposit' which.. ok. I know the site mentioned it, but when I CALLED the hotel they said I wouldn't have to do it. I explained to them that I didn't understand it because I travel. I travel alot. And the only reason I chose their hotel was because it was connected to the convention center. I'm a gold VIP member at the Crowne across the street, and could have gotten something a little farther away and nicer because of the traveler clubs my parents are in... but I chose them.)
So I immediately went back downstairs and tried to speak to the lady who still didn't believe I was 21. So after insisting on speaking to a manager HE said that even though we booked a double bedded room, the Marriot can't garuntee that you'll actually get that. And since, you know, we weren't there as soon as they started taking reservations, they weren't at fault for anything. These rooms were booked back at the end of January I believe. It isn't like it was a last minute, April booking.
I severely expressed to him how disgruntled I was on their method of handling our accomodations and also quite bluntly informed him that I will not be staying there past this year, and if it weren't for the fees I would incur, I would be taking my business to another hotel.
He still refused to move our room from the King sized bed, so I insisted his faculty figure out a way to put at least 1 rollaway bed in there for boys  because there were going to be 4 people in that room.

I had to call three times to get the roll away bed.
Then raise more h*ll just to get the refridgerators that I had personally called the hotel months prior and requested in the rooms. Ooho I remember that conversation. When the lady told me they might not have them I pretty much said along the lines of.. "No. You DO have them. And they WILL be brought up to our rooms. BOTH rooms will have one, and if I don't see them up here within the hour I will be coming down there, and I WILL MAKE you bring them up with your own two hands. Have I made myself perfectly, crystal clear to you, darling?"
I was very very ticked off. It felt like the entire time they were treating us like children.
I might look young, I might look like I was 17 at that time, but that doesn't mean I'm stupid. I know precisely what a hotel can and cannot do. And all the things that they kept saying they couldn't do...

They most certainly could.

Mind you, more things happened.. like constantly requesting more towels for 4 people in each rooms, addtional blankets not coming all the time.. We spent one night with just a couple and the next day I flagged down the housecleaner instead and asked if we could have a couple blankets and pillows since their service hadn't bothered to bring them up.

The only people who even seemed helpful was the bellhop. He was a very nice person who even helped up figure out a nice place to set-up the fridges as well as figure out how to tap into the T.V.'s to set-up our PS2. But one bellhop can't clean-up the act of the rest of the staff.
The only other complaint I had was the elevators as well, but I ended up taking the stairs most of the time because of it. Besides, into comparison of everything else they did *JUST* at check-in.. stuffy elevators were the least of my complaints.

That's really quite horrible, ip...  Sounds everyone has really mixed stories regarding the hotels.  I've never had any problems like you just mentioned, though; I had an adjoining room last year which was set up properly, and I've never had the bed problem that a lot of people have had here.  Which is kind of odd, because with the exception of last year (arrived on Thursday) I generally arrive rather late on Friday because of school/the drive/etc.

I'm glad you gave them hell about it, though.  Too bad there wasn't anything else to be done about it... I recognize the fact that they have this first come first serve policy (I'm referring to both hotels), but the fact that they are perfectly willing to overbook non-smoking rooms, king/double size rooms and rooms with specific requets (like adjoining rooms) is ridiculous and bad managing.  They should at least have the common courtesy to remove the option after a certain point so the people who bothered to register so far ahead will really get what they want.  Imagine if you were on the road and reserved a room ahead of time in a hotel for a vacation, and they just pulled it all out under your feet.

Better luck this year.  Going with the Crowne?

Absolute0 -  :-# It's probably a little bit of both.. but personally it felt like to me that it was a judged book cover on the staff's part.. as in I look young, I must obviously not know too much about how hotels work, there are other people complaining, we'll push this one around... I dunno. I mean.. maybe it was the fact I was wearing a Pokemon shirt that helped aid in the book judging but still... bagh. @_@ I get easily disgruntled when I'm not taken seriously... even if a jigglypuff shirt isn't a business suit, it shouldn't change how a customer recieves service.

Tuplica - Yeah.. It gets me a little more annoyed to find out that people had the same problem but it was fixed for them... In any case, we actually aren't going to the Crowne this time, instead trying out the Hilton.
Though, anyone looking to go to the Crowne, they were awesome the year before last. I got a little 'special' treatment, but the staff was helpful and kind. Rooms were nice as well. However, even a block away from the convention center the group I was with felt disconnected from the con experience. Also, if you can manage to become a VIP member, I say do it.. I don't know how much they cost this year, but as a VIP member two years ago I got the rooms cheaper than what the Fanime housing was at, two tickets for free breakfasts every day, free parking for 1 car for my entire stay and special access to the business room continental breakfast things too (though it was only for Friday since they didn't have it during the weekends. XP ) But also keep in mind that they will probably put you on a level where your card key is required just to get there by elevator *nods*

Hopefully the Hilton will be better, though it's true there are a lot of mixed reviews going on for the two. Here's to keeping my fingers crossed!

I think that other than the fact that the guys we were sharing with trashed the room and took over the beds, I had pretty good time. Wow ip, sorry to hear that your experience was so horrible. As I said earlier, my time at the Marriott was awesome. Then again, maybe not only your young appearance, but your sex may have had something to do with it? I know the receptionist was a lady, but I was only 19 and I checked into the room by myself, got the beds I wanted and everything. It's a horrible idea, but that might be another reason.

I have heard mixed reviews about the Hilton as well. People said the rooms are incredibly small and the service is terrible, while others say that there was plenty of room and they had a great time. So really I guess it's a 50/50 chance.

I just hope your experience is better this year. ^_^

Some of you are missing the whole point here. Instead of getting angry and pissed off that some of special requests like non-smoking, smoking, refrigerators, low floor, high floor, roll away beds, etc aren't honored by the hotel, go look up the meaning of the word "REQUEST".

Better yet, here it is from Websters Online Dictionary:

Request
1 : the act or an instance of asking for something
2 : something asked for
3 : the state of being sought after

No where do I see that when you request something, that you are 100% guaranteed for it. Hotels make every effort in accommodating requests, but sometimes, it's not possible to honor every request out there. All special requests are subject to the availability of the hotel at the time of check in.

Unfortunately, the king vs double/double scenario was a different story. In most cases, bed types like 1 or 2 beds are a request. For Fanimecon, because a majority of con-goers need 2 bedded rooms, there was a set limit of how many 1 and 2 bedded rooms were available to be reserved. Your bed type should have been honored as we provided to the hotel the exact amount of 2 bedded reservations as they gave us in 2 bedded rooms.

Again, I will stress that if anyone has troubles getting the bed type they reserved, please get a hold of me at the con.  The office for Con-Operations will have a way to get in touch with me.

Credit cards, deposits and payments - While we don't take any deposits or holds on your credit card when you reserve a room, it is a different story when you physically check into the hotel. There is a difference when asking if there is a "deposit for a reservation" and a "deposit when you check in". When you check in, you are required to give them some form of payment for your stay. If by credit card, they will put a hold on your card. This is the hotel's protection that you will not just "check out" of the hotel without paying. The amount of the credit card hold depends on the number of nights, number of rooms if one is checking in for more than 1 room, taxes and incidental charges like telephone calls, parking, pay per view movies, room service, etc. So if one is staying for 2 nights @ $99 a night, the hotel will most likely put a hold of about $250-$300 for this stay.

Post by: FanFicGuru on March 27, 2006, 04:49:29 PM
Snorlax, while your points are well taken, from the sound of it, IP had been guaranteed these services by the hotel. When someone books as early as she does, one expects to get what they are paying for. As a customer of the hotel, it is the hotel's responsibility to deliver on what was booked and paid for. Especially for Smoking or Non Smoking. There are many dangerous health concerns for a hotel that doesn't give a customer who booked a non smoking a non smoking room.

I think the point is that we know that the hotel cannot deliver everything we want, but when it fails so completely in every aspect of our pre-ordered room, that is not something left to 'Well we didn't guarantee you anything.' If we can't be guaranteed decent service, what's the point of staying there at all?

Without tenants in the rooms, being kept happy, they would not be in business. I don't want them to forget that fact.

I unno. I still love the Marriott and I'm willing to stay there again even though theres a lot of mixed reviews. I've been staying at the Marriott ever since it came to the San Jose McErny Convention center, and even though theres been some problems (though definitely not to the extent of ip136. Sorry you had to go through that @__@;;; ), I think I will still continue to go there.

Though the Marriott hopefully learned from its mistakes last year. Perhaps they'll order more fridges or rollaway beds..cause I know they were running out of them FAST >.> And perhaps get more people working that night since towels and such weren't coming fast enough XD;;

I think this is probably a really stressful time for the hotel..so..<_< they should learn to be more prepared I guess.

<< they also shouldnt judge people by their looks either and thinking they're much younger than they really are. o_O

FanFicGuru - Yeah.. I'm just happy that not everyone had a really bad experience with the hotel. It does really seem like a 50/50 thing. Hopefully the Hilton will be nicer to my group and I than the Marriott was ^^

snorlax - Thank you for the information.. but personally, I do know what the word request means. I also personally know what hotels can and can't do for people. I have family that has worked for a lot of them and I've seen not all, but a lot of the inner workings of especially the managerial positions in larger companies like the Marriot. All in all, they told me one thing and gave me another over and over again. As for the deposit, I called them personally and asked for an explination. I informed them how I was going to pay and they told me that since it wasn't a real credit card (bank card), that there wouldn't be an additional hold on my card at all. Then they went and tried to double charge me instead to which the lady at the front desk informed me that the return of the deposit would be taken care of a couple days AFTER our stay ended. So it isn't so much that it isn't understood, they just flat out were messing up left and right. That's all I'm trying to say. It is a complaint and should be left as just that.

*EDIT*
Ruby - XP Just because I'm on the page.. I have to agree with you on that. These times are really hard and stressful for hotels... *nods* It's a very good point...
