Thanks for your courteous updates if you received a confirmation email for a specific time slot but cannot make it. If you cannot make it, then do not fret. We will just mark you down as a no-show and give your spot to an at-con attendee waiting in line. No need to formally tell us, we will take care of it!

There will be no-shows and late birds! So stop by and get in-line EARLY for Speed Dating if you did not get a specific time slot!

If that's true, then I did not get in?? That doesn't make any sense since they said there were a lot of seats left... wtf

As mentioned, all Confirmation Emails with registered attendee's specific times and dates have been sent out LAST NIGHT. If you did not receive a separate email last night confirming your SPECIFIC time and date, then all our spots have been filled up and we could not place you in a time slot. We place attendees in time slots based on preferences for date and times on a first-come, first-served basis. We never stated that there were a lot of seats left. Actually to the contrary, we kept saying that this is a popular event with an overwhelming amount of requests. Hoping to expand next year with your supports!

If you think you received a confirmation email last night but missed it, please check your Spam folder and Trash folder. If you deleted it, it should still exist in your Trash folder or somewhere in your email (unless you completely wiped out your email).

We encourage you all to still drop by our Speed Dating events and wait in line if you're really gun-ho about it! Best of luck :)

Interesting, thank you. I know that I got my app in on the 2nd, but the people reading this over my shoulder both claim they got theirs in on the 1st. Fast enough, they surmise, that it makes them wonder why a FCFS slotting wouldn't have included them.

I'll prod them to check their actual sign up times again, to make sure.

Is it possible to give us an idea how many applicants actually submitted themselves for each slot? Thanks!

Even on the first day, as mentioned by our Head, we had an overwhelming number of requests and placement was based by preferences of date and times. The first guys/girls who signed up for the specific time slots received the spot, and all your registration goes to our database which was thoroughly sorted by our Staff. We can reassure everyone that our Staff looked at all the Registrations to make sure that there were no repeats or nonsensical registrations.

Just be reassured that we, the Staff, have thoroughly looked through the registration to make the process as fair as possible. We are aware of factors that might account into an attendee's placement. It could be that your friends signed up for a very popular time slot and it was already filled up. We are very busy right now with Fanime being two days away and cannot accommodate all requests in regards to Registration logistics. We hope you understand our position. We rather dedicate the little time to making Speed Dating awesome! If you and your friends want to wait, then we welcome you to stop by our event. Friday seems to be very popular and exciting due to our first grand opening. So you can stop by Friday, Saturday, or Sunday if you want! Thank you.

Myself and a couple of other convention attendees have a question regarding the slotting for the Speed Dating event, and we'd like a straight answer, if we could have one please.

What influence, if any, did an applicants age have to do with their being slotted?

For this year's Speed Dating event, age did not have any influence in applicants' placement for the time slots. As reiterated it is first-come, first-served based on your preferences of dates and times. Good luck!

Thank you and I understand completely. I figured switching was a long shot, haha. Also, based on previous speed dating events, what would be the best time to line up at the con to hopefully score a spot in the event? My friend is still interested in coming on Friday, so he would like to try his chances at the lines.

Based on previous Speed Dating events (not an official recommendation from Speed Dating staff), attendees lined up as early as 1 hour before the event and some have gotten in. However, Friday does seem to be our most popular event thus far. There is big anticipation for our first Speed Dating event!

Please direct all inquiries about other events in their appropriate thread forums. This thread forum is specifically for Speed Dating, and we do not compare events based on "fun-ness." All FanimeCon Staff have worked hard to prepare their events and all events are fun regardless. Apologies to those who were not placed in a time slot and we understand your concerns in terms of participation, but if you're really curious and enthusiastic about Speed Dating still, we recommend you wait at-con! So I got my confirmation e-mail for Friday, but I'm still waiting on a friend of mine to get his before I start planning my weekend out. On the off chance that he get his confirmation e-mail for Sunday instead, would trading spots with someone for that day be okay? If not, I would understand but I had to ask.

Unfortunately after we place you in a time slot and email confirmations, we cannot switch time slots around for anyone. This is to ensure the fairness for everyone who has registered and honor their requests. If registered people happen to be late or no-shows for any day, their spot goes to at-con attendees who waited in line. Best of luck and hope that everything works out for you!

Quick question. During these 5 minute rounds are we sitting? I'm debating whether or not if I want to arrive in costume and my armor does not leave room to sit normally.

as far as my past experience is concerned, you will be sitting
and then either the females will stay seated and the males move, or vica versa

Yes you are sitting and for the non-LBGT, gentlemen are going to rotate around. For LBGT, we are going to just pick a side to rotate.

Anyone may wear their cosplay, but forewarn to be cautious about space! You may take parts of your costume off while speed dating. It is entirely up to you and your comfortableness.

So from what I gathered from this thread, all heterosexual, male spots were filled on May 1st? Because I didn't get my confirmation, and I signed up late-ish that day (since you said signing up on 5/1 didn't guarantee a spot, I'm assuming this was the case.)

We are just stating that if you signed up on 5/1/12 it may or may not have placed you in a time slot. The initial acknowledgment email that you registered should have been automatic.

Perhaps people clear their Spam folders and it got Trashed? We cannot account for your email actions.

If you signed up later that day, you may or may not have gotten a spot also depending on what time/dates you wanted. We have no guarantees for anyone regardless of their gender or sexual preferences.

Please check your spam and email by tomorrow morning to see if you received a confirmation email. For registration, we take a first-come, first-served basis for requests based on your preferences. We, the Staff, strive diligently to make the process as fair as possible and enjoyable for all. We thank you for your patience and understanding.

• When will I receive my confirmation email about my specific date/times?: We will absolutely email you before FanimeCon starts. We have been working diligently to process everyone's registration and filling up spaces on a rolling basis. We appreciate your understanding and patience, so please be on a look out and check your email!

• It's FanimeCon Day already, and I did not receive a confirmation email...Why?: Due to the popularity of our event, our online registration sign-ups are first-come, first-served basis since May 1st. Chances are that we were unable to place you in one of our Speed Dating events due to the volume of registration requests.

• What can I do if I do not receive a confirmation email with a specific time/date? Can I email you and ask for one?: No please do not email or post on the forums requesting a date/time because all the spots HAVE BEEN FILLED! We cannot do anything at that point regardless. 15 slots for each gender for each hetero event.

45 slots for straight dudes, 45 slots for straight ladies.

there is no wait list this year. So if there are any no shows we'll pull from whoever manages to be there hoping to get in.

what about the slots for the LGBT events? The thing is i signed up for all events Friday and Saturday, but if I don't receive an email for a time slot, does that mean I show up on Friday or Saturday to try to get in earlier? (I prefer Saturday though because I have more time that day)

There are two events for the LGBT community on Saturday from 2-4PM and 4-6PM. If you signed up for the LGBT events and received a spot, we will email you a confirmation in regards to that.

airanimechiic, if you signed up for Friday and Saturday and DID not receive a conformation email for a specific time slot, then yes, if you wish to participate in the Speed Dating events you should come to get in line at-con. We recommend you come before the actual start times of 2PM and 4PM to increase your chances of participating in the event if you are waiting at-con. If you prefer Saturday, then please come earlier than 2pm or 4pm to try to get in.

Emails will be sent out ASAP and we cannot give a designated date. But as mentioned, we do respect everyone's concerns and are working on emailing confirmations asap. Any further similar questions of "when will the email be sent out?" will be directed to my many variety of responses.

As mentioned, Speed Dating is a 1:1 event. Male to female or m:m or f:f is dependent on the event of the day. But it will be one-on-one for 5 minutes regardless.

We will fill all the slots evenly for the non-LGBT events with an even number of males and females, so hopefully there will be no problem with females not signing up. We will fill all slots, this is a very popular event!
