Hi all,

We've updated some information on the FAQ:

You may now purchase single-day memberships and other badge types slightly earlier than before:

Full Weekend: until May 24th, 6 pm
Friday: only May 23rd, 12:01 am - 6 pm
Saturday: May 23rd, 8:30 pm - May 24th, 6 pm
Sunday: May 24th, 8:30 pm - May 25th, 6 pm
Monday: May 25th, 8:30 pm - May 26th, 11 am
Half Weekend (Sunday and Monday):  May 24th, 8:30 pm - May 25th, 6 pm

Note that these hours are when Registration closes for the day. If for some reason Reg is still open and you purchase a single day membership (for example) for Saturday but you come on Friday, we will turn you away. If you purchase a Friday only membership at (for example) 5:59pm and somehow get delayed and do not come to pick up your badge the same day after 7pm when we close, we will turn you away. We will, however, give you the option to come back the next day and upgrade your Friday membership to a Saturday one if you are willing to pay the difference. Our policy still is that we do not offer refunds or transfers of membership regardless of if the badge is redeemed or not.

Thanks all!

Day Zero is always the longest, but thats because everyone prefers to waste a whole day in line than waiting in line on friday when their is going to be actual events.
Day zero is for prepaid only.

Also forgot to add you can buy your badge at Clockwork Alchemy. But I'm sure half the people are going to show up there so it may be another long wait there too.
Yes. Please note that CA reg is a much smaller setup. They will have something like 4 staffers and 2 printers with maybe 4-6 stations or so (don't have the exact numbers on me at the moment). If a lot of people go there, it may take just as long if not longer to pick up your badges there.

Apologize if I missed this, but is it too late to change group leaders? Another member of my group is going to make it down to SJ before I will, and with now knowing that we can pick up at either location, I'd assume he can get through the Fanime line starting at 3 before my planned 6 PM arrival for Clockwork's line. Thanks!
You will be able to, up to... let's say like Tuesday at the latest but note that the later you request it, the less and less likely we will be able to fulfill your request as we will be moving on-site and be preparing for that.

GET YOUR REQUESTS IN, PEOPLE!

Sorry- but one more thing

"should hold EVERYONE IN-DOOR in year!"

That's pretty assuming and I'm not even sure if that's necessarily true... Although we are back in the SJCC, the area area of where the lines are to be are fairly limited. We may or may not have the lines spill outside of the SJCC if they get too long as we aren't too sure just yet what that'll look like.

Hey- thanks for making this guide!

I would just edit that it is now "valid photo ID" as we are allowing school IDs to the standard list of IDs we typically accept.

If you've already designated your spot for badge pickup as Fanime, are they actually going to let you just change to CA on the fly like that, though?
We use this designation as a metric on where to allocate our resources. We will not hold you to whatever location you chose when you registered.

So are badges going to be printed on-demand during reg?
Yes. We will have printers at nearly each check in station.

Wait, so they won't be fancy-badges? Or will they be fancy printers making fancy badges?
They will be fancy badges with fancy printers printing directly onto the fancy badges.

;D

Is there a day 0 pickup for the AA as well?

I'm not sure what you mean. If you are an Artist, you may pick up your badge on Thursday like everyone else who registered online. However, you must still check in with Artist Alley on Friday.
The AA process said anybody in AA picked up the badges in the AA location this year.
So I wondering if there was a different schedule for badge pick up since there's only going to be a handful (well comparatively) to the regular lines.
If you are in AA, you can only pick up your badge at AA starting on Friday when AA is available to artists.

Do NOT come to Registration as we will not be giving you your badge. You must check in at AA.

Registration / Re: Registering a new group member
May 14, 2014, 08:06:29 PM
Hi guys,

To clarify:

You can still create groups and pay for them collectively. However, if you were to buy a membership by yourself and you want to now add or be added into another person's group, we will not accept these requests.

If you want to be in a group, you must register and pay all one time. The deadline to request merges or additions to existing paid memberships has passed.

Sorry about the inconvenience but we do need buffer time in order to ensure that all our data is correct when we come to at-con which means we are extremely reluctant to change any data in our database now.

Thanks!

I got a question about group reg.
Since the new update, i can't get the list of people i already have in my group before the update and if i had already paid for them. The system from earlier was a bit easier to get the information but this update wont let me see it. I also forgot the confirmation code because my email deletes any old email that is over 2 months old.
Can you help me?
Please go to r.fanime.com and use the request confirmation e-mail tool. There your confirmation code and group roster will be listed on the email that will be sent to you.

so fanime is having pickup from 3-8 on day 0....

i thought i saw 5-8 on CA's page for their day 0 hours...is this correct, or will they also be doing 3-8??
CA's hours may be different than FanimeCon's. Please double check the convention's hours as they may not necessarily be the same.

Thank you for all the info...just one more question please on day zero if i get there and in line by 8pm ill be ok right ill be racing down from work to try to make it by 8pm.......
We will be capping the line at 8pm. This means those that were not in the line prior to 8pm will not be able to stay in the line.

Please check with the head of AA. Last I heard, if you are an artist, you will only be able to pick up your badge starting Friday at Artists Alley. You will not be able to pick up your badge at Registration. This is a new policy change for AA members.

Do paid online (after may 1st) attendees get plastic/design badges?

I'm also added to an existing group (from 1st database).
Everyone will be getting a plastic badge.

Registration / Re: Confirmation email?

So basically all that the confirmation e-mail does is confirm that you have paid. FanimeCon will be sending EVERYONE who has paid an e-postcard e-mail with a code that allows you to check in. You do not need the confirmation e-mail of payment- you will need the e-postcard email we send in May. However, if something does go wrong with your account, we will need a copy of the confirmation e-mail.

In the case of group registration, will it be one email sent to the group leader with everyone's information like in previous years? Or individual emails sent to each member that the group leader would have to collect?
I'm not 100% sure about what you're asking but the group leader will be the one getting the e-mail with the group roster and check-in code.

I would like to add my thanks for letting us do the smaller groups.  This way my roommate can get our things in the room while I grab our badges, as we've done in years past =).  One question, though.  Will we get an email if the grouping is successful, or only if there was a problem and it didn't work?
Yes, we will email you if there is a problem. If the grouping is successful, we will send out an email to all parties with the email addresses listed with the updated e-postcard/confirmation email (I believe. We still need to work out the specifics actually).

Hi there,

Noted on the sheet, we say that it may take up to a week to get the information processed as this information will be manually processed. Your confirmation will be in the e-mail we send at that time showing the new group roster.

To explain why we had to change our systems:
The initial system you registered on was maintained by an outside company. Their primary focus was to make sure that preregistration was up and running. Unfortunately, that system at this current moment does not focus on our at-con or "at the door" registration which is what we will be needing very soon. To prepare for a smooth transition and to not completely close our online registrations (like in previous years where we would halt all online registrations two weeks prior to the convention), we decided to switch to our current system. Our current system has been specifically built for online registrations for at-con and online concurrent registrations.

The transition times from the first database being transferred to our second database took approximately a week. We were initially not going to allow for any changes from the first database but decided it would be a better customer service experience to allow changes, including new group member additions up to approximately a week before the convention.

I'm sorry for any inconvenience this transition may cause, but we thank you for your patience and understanding.

Yeah.. Is that going to slow down reg? I figured the five person minimum was because deregistering groups took so long.
Deregistering?

It actually shouldn't slow down reg during our open hours at all. It essentially just adds more tasks for me and my team to do pre-con.

But if it makes people happy, then I suppose it's worth it! ^____^

Thanks for attending FanimeCon 2014 guys, hope to see you all there.

We're going to try to have the e-postcards sent out sooner than that but ultimately, it may be a few days after May 13th given that we will have to make a significant amount of changes that people have requested already.
