Cosplaying is a huge source of laughs, for plenty of reasons, whether you see an outrageous costume that just cracks you up or if you're the one in costume and something funny happens to you. Haha. At the Cherry Blossom Festival in San Francisco, I saw a really good Cloud cosplayer, and commented on how cute he was. My friend stares at me and said "That's a girl." :shock: I was so embarassed!

*Giggles* That's funny. Yeah I covered it up with some lie about wanting to dance with a Vash or something to save face. It was pretty bad though. It's sad that I convinced him to dance with me...but I got totally turned down flat by that female Ranma cosplayer....ugh. That STILL upsets me, ESPECIALLY since my damned psychotic friend Kyros was dancing with her later. @.@

This wasn't a personal experience but a friend of mine went to a convention on the East coast as Toboe from Wolf's Rain. Someone came up behind them and hugged them around them thinking it was a guy, but my friend is a girl XD Let's just say she was in quite a bit of pain after the ferocious hug >.<

I was one of the Vash crossplayers around, and several things happened...
- Someone caught me talking to my friend about Lord of the Rings and I was imitating Legolas and they took a picture... :lol:
- Someone asked me to dance while I was wandering around the main floor in the middle of the day...
- Someone also asked me for a picture and when I said "Sure" he said "Whoa! That sounds like a girl's voice!" :?
- Con Highlight: Free donuts!

I just thought it would be kinda funny to surprise someone who thought I was a guy in the Kakashi outfit...except my voice is the only thing that would really give me away and it's not even that high. :lol:

Well they're not quite sure about the date yet. It's under "Ideas and Suggestions". It's gunna happen...we're just voting on what times, because it might interfere with Music Fest or Der Cosplay or other stuff ^^;

what I love is the stuff that happens outside fanime while still in costume. The reactions you get from people is hilarious. I mean, here you are walking into your favorite restuarant, and there's a bunch of wierdos dressed up all sitting at a table and ordering food. Those wierdos would be my friends and me...I don't know why I'm so easily amused.
Well I'll be crossplaying as Gothic Lolita so if I'm around you should get even MORE looks ^^;;

i totally know what you mean. i love it when cosplayers take over a restaurant...just put tables next to each other and add on as more and more con-goers come in.
you can really tell who the non-con people are because their facial expressions are like "GOOD GOD THERE'S MORE OF THEM????"

Yeah that's the spirit! Let those poor naive fools stare...it's only a matter of time before most of them join our collective. Anime and manga have grown more and more pervasive in our culture. Manga isn't just sold in comic shops...or in a small section....it takes up 3+ book cases in major bookstores around the country :twisted: Not to mention it's gotten CHEAPER to! $10 for a graphic novel retail!!

1. I glomped someone with marker on their chest and when I got down I had the writing mirrored on my white shirt. :x
2. um..walking to my car dressed as a school girl someone mistook me for a whore and tried to get me to go in their car. :oops:
3. Singing in a restaurant with 3 other cosplayers and totally scaring the old people...and then getting the staff to join in. Lol
OMG! That's sooo funny! Remind me to hang out with you during part of the con Tea-san o.o;;
yay for cosplaying in restaurants! At Cherry Blossom, one of my friends was dressed up as Sailor Moon and we ate lunch at Benihana. Then, I went to the restroom with her, and there was this little kid that got all excited when she saw her. When they left, her mom was like, "Now you can say you went to the bathroom with Sailor Moon!" :lol:

Those stupid ninja shoes are giving me trouble. I can't get the ankle part right. It's funny how so many people complain about them, but they're right! I might have to redo them...
It's almost as bad as the Kouga bandaging last year. I didn't really want to go barefoot with only the cloth wrapped around my feet so I wrapped the cloth over the sandals I was wearing. The stupid cloth started falling off though. The worst time was when we were crossing the street to go get some food, and the cloth go completely untangled, so I was standing in the middle of the street with all the people in the cars watching me unwrap my foot and get across the crosswalk before the light changed. It was kinda funny.
I hope the bandaging for my Kakashi costume won't be so troublesome. I'm thinking of using gauze this time.

Yay! I finally finished my wig! It looks kinda funky, but it's the best I can do...Next Halloween I'll buy I better one. This time since the costumes are out of season, it was a lot harder to find a decetnt wig. I ended up buy a rocker mullet, chopping it up, and spraypainting it silver (it was dirty blonde to start with). I just hope it lasts through the con. :P

on the way home, i filled up the tank,
a moogle hat school girl filled up her tank.
the other people sorta just stared
Fanime 2004, my dad picked me, my brother, and my boyfriend (who is now an ex) up.
We were all stubborn and didn't eat any food at fanime, we bought WEAPONS instead. (needless to say, dad was not pleased with my brother or i)
So my dad took us to the mcdonalds in gilroy on the way back from Fanime
the 3 of us were still in COSPLAY and we were VISUAL KEI cosplay too!!!!!
this one african american lady says "lord have mercy!" when she saw the 3 of us enter.
and the mcdonalds people just stared at us.
We thought that was really funny, "GOTHS GO TO MC DONALDS!"
Fanime 2003, after the con, my dad stopped in D and J Hobbies and my mom and i went to the pet store next door and then to this drug store next to the pet store.
THe guy at the register said "hey, its Rinoa!" and i was really happy he reconized the outfit, since the duster wasn't even a "Rinoa Colored" one. it was dark blue with some black contrasts.

It's not exactly cosplay, but does anyone remember the WWII veterans reunion at the SJCC during famine 2004? My friend bought a japanese head band, and me who can only read a little kanji, saw the word 'wind'.
Me: "Hm... wind... kaze... what would include kaz-Uh, *friends name* you might want to take that off!"
Friend: "Why?"
Me: "Because it says Kami Kaze!"
Friend: "OMG! :shock: " *takes off headband*
Yeah, fortunately we reconized it before it was too late.
I'm debating whether or not to wear my costume on the train. It'd be really funny, but I'd probably scare people. :lol:

I dressed up as Hanatarou from Bleach for Yaoi-con. My friend was dressed up as a giant Kon. I was chasing after her to give her a present I bought, but I tripped on my pant leg and fell on the pavement which is a stereotypical Hanatarou moment XD I almost wished somebody took a picture if it didn't hurt so much :X I gave up and limped back into the con center.
well, I never got around to getting the bells, but the con was still a lot of fun. I got mistaken for a guy a couple times, which was funny, but expected. Those fangirls were hilarious. They tackled me from behind!
I had a group of fangirls follow me around Artist Alley singing One-Winged Angel (Sephiroth's theme song). It was pretty funny.... one of my friends joined in....
At the Naruto Gathering there was ninja twister. I went up against someone dressed as Rock Lee and lost, but my final pose was me going underneath myself with my hand behind me and my legs in front. I think my ass was sticking high up in the air and the flap of my dress fell forward revealing my shiny green spandex underneath XD How embarassing

i guess the funniest thing that happened to me was how i met Goofy Style threw my Larc En Ciel box lol. i was in my Daishi Love Is Dead costume awhile holding my huge Larc En Ciel box. i was about to leave the Dealer's room until i heard ''Larc En Ciel!'' from the left. i turned to my left and see the whole Goofy Style group looking at me ( at the time i didn't know they were Goofy Style lol). the drummer (at the time i didn't know he was the drummer) kept on saying Larc En Ciel and i was like ''yea! larc en ciel!!" like i said to everyone else to recognized the box lol. the drummer then came around the booth and started to talk to me. i think he said ''Larc en Ciel daisuki desu ka?'' for a moment i blanked out and he kept on asking again. i guess i didn't react so fast so he said ''do you like Larc En Ciel?'' and i was like ''yea!! i love them!!'' he then started to give me Goofy Style stickers and stuff. i wanted to give them something too so i was like ''wait! i have something for you!'' i dropped my box and as soon as i opened my box, the whole band started to laugh cuz i had sooo much crap in box. i quickly pulled out candy that was meant for a different gathering that i didn't make it to and i handed everyone including the translator. they all said thank you and i shook the drummer's hand and left. after that and seeing them in concert, i hella fell in love with them!! lol my Larc box led me towards a great band!! lol
another story is on sunday, i hell fogot my white gloves for my Daishi costume so my friends and i started to walk to the Crowne Plaza cuz that was the hotel i was staying at. as we're walking, i saw a bunch of ninjas in a green car and i yelled out with my arms in the air ''NINJAS! COME BACK!'' and they drove off. i didn't think they would come back but then the car came back in reverse and the ninja car stopped near us! they yelled out ''MORTAL COMBAT!'' or at least i think that's what they yelled out lol. i took they're pic and went off to my hotel. omg... the ninjas at fanime were sooo random... but great!! lol
another story is on friday night, after going to the dance, my friends and i hella just sat in the hallway in the lobby cuz we were hella tired. then i see hella ninjas run by and i yelled out ''NINJA!!'' they then turned around and hella jumped onto my friend, pulled out a camera, and yelled out ''MYSPACE!!'' lol omg... that was soo funny... lol

oh! and another was when she stole my death note note book... we must've spun around for 5 minutes before I finally got it back. :D

I have the best story.
There was this group of guys walking to 7-11 at four in the morning. Two were cosplayers, Spike and Vash. Vash started talking about how they might get mugged but to not worry becouse he had this....
This was a plastic water gun painted like Vash's gun.

Okay this one isnt really funny... its just wrong.. but sorta funny.. me and my friend where sitting on these chairs near stage zero sunday night... and someone went walking by who we just played tag with well my friend decided he wanted to glomp him.. well thats cool right... well the thing is my friend is 300 pounds... anyway.. he ran as fast as he could and then he full on jumped on this guy... it was crazy... anyway afterwords my friend gave him a dollar... cause he felt bad... i then proceeded to give him another dollar because i know it must of hurt. Anyway that was pretty crazy.
haha. it was really hot during the naruto gathering, and was in my Kakashi costume. I burn easily, so I ended up with this funky tan line along where my mask had been. didn't last long though :lol:
I spent a lot of time putting on makeup in the morning to make the illusion that I was a girl. I played DDR when I went to the game room, and my makeup started to smear off. Regardless of the makeup, I was still mistaken for a girl :shock:
People kept looking at my bare skin, too. One of my friends shouted out really loud "I CAN SEE YOUR BUTT!" and everyone looked :oops:

I took a picture of my straight friend doing a Hard Gay impression....and he was totalling have his ass in front of his male crossplaying friend! I was like "Dude I am SO taking a picture of this since it's just too funny not to" XD We even got my friend to do the Hard Gay impression to the guy in the solid snake box. I just fell on the floor laughing at that point. :twisted:

now time from some stories from the perspective of Nicholas D. Wolfwood;
I was the Wolfwood running around with the 6 foot wooden cross. At one point a Vash i was talking to looked ovr my shoulder and said "incoming" and started to dive away. I looked over my shoulder and this little asian girl (i shit you not, couldnt have been any taller than 4'5") is comming at me at oh...around Mach 6.2. Anyway, i set the cross and down and jerk it to a .45 degree angle just as she got to me. she hits this thing and rebounds, rolls, bounces for about 5-6 feet. Then she just gets up and runs away. We just stood there for a moment s then i was like "dudes, i feel kinda bad. As cool as that was, i just deflected someone's kid" :shock:

We were all at the Trigun gathering and as we walked away i jumped onto one of the Vashi and well, he proceeded to move in lets say *sensual* ways. Kinda disturbing, yet the fangirl cheers and screams of glee sure made up for the slight embaressment.
*Snickers* Hehehe. Now THAT is funny!! I hate to say it.....I was dissapointed in you Wolfwoods. None of you really seemed to capture the essence quite like my friend did last year. Although at least you got some fangirl cheers :twisted:
oh fear not Miss Rei. Twas my first time cosplaying ever. Next year im gunna have my mini confessional to absolve you of all your sins (while partaking in some of my own). My lady friend may join me as Milly, im going to be revamping my cross punisher, got the shades at the con, gunna get a pack of cigs on the way down next year. All that and ill feel more comfortable in character so i should be able to pull it better. Oh and this year i had long hair so it kinda killed it, next year we're springing for the expensive black wig (cus i refuse to cut my hair, need it for my Reno and IL_BAN costumes)
It was UBER windy outside during my photoshoot and my habit for my Bridget cosplay flew off into the fountain water! XD Hazukashii na....Mooouuu.... >.<

What you all missed earlier on was us joking about how if the black kid yelled "BLACK POWAHH!!!" instead of "heart" that Captain Planet would come out black with a huge fro and hammer pants ^_^^_^

Actually the black guy is 'earth' -- heart is the kid from brazil or hawaii or whatever -- the one who had the monkey :P

Also when I was coming down the elevator this old lady saw all these cosplayers and said it was weird and I told her "not to worry ma'am I'm a super hero" she said "I feel so much safer and I said "rest assure ma'am your in good hands"

I got glomped on Saturday by an Al. I asked her to glomp me and she did. There was this great "whomp!" and the next thing we knew, I was on the floor laughing my head off. Of course, people were asking me if I was okay, and I was truly fine. *dies laughing*

OMG! That was sooooo funny!! That had me on the floor laughing!! Oh my I have NEVER laughed so hard in my ENTIRE life as I did that night!!
A lot of funny things happened to me at Fanime. I played Ninja twister with my buddies. The first game it was down to just me and Sasuke...then I lost.
Next would be when I met Kamijo-san. On Sunday I was still in my Anko costume and carried around a giant snake toy with me. Kamijo liked it and even coiled it around his arm for the photo. It was so cute. XD I have a pciture of it here.

On Monday I was dressed up as zombie L. i had white makeup, fake blood, and even a little sign that says "Zombie L wants your brains!!" I met up with some other Ls and we attracted quite the attention. We even pretended to be zombies! Also throughout the con I took photos of me pretending to eat people's brains.
All in all, it was a blast.

this random chick in black pants, a purple-ish shirt, and a black wig (i'm thinking form inuyasha) hugged/glomped me within the first 10 seconds of me stepping foot into the room. in the middle of the glomp, i asked her "do i know you" and she said "no" so i came the shocking realization that i finally got glomped. after soo many years of avoiding it, it was envitable. :cry: then my friend found me somehow, grabbed me, and practically threw me over her shoulder and walked half way down the length of one row in the dealer's room. that was weird too -_-''
