Who wants to meet some fellow Fanime-goers? I sure do! If you would love to hang out in Japantown with some fresh faces, meet us on MARCH 26TH AT 12PM in front of the Big Pagoda in Japantown. We will have a nice sign that reads "FANIME GATHERING" just to make it obvious!

Don't be shy or embarrassed, or feel too young or too old. My friend and I are both 24, but there are plenty of teens interested in going. Also if you don't want to go alone, bring a friend. Even if you aren't going to Fanime, we would love to have you, because this is all about meeting people with similar interests and having a good time! Finally, if you would rather arrive later than 12pm, we can arrange to meet you at another time, just pm me in advance.
And as much as I know the San Francisco area, I would love it if you guys have any other suggestions. Any particular stores you want to visit? Something cool going on? Let me know!

Yeah later in March like the 26th would be great ^^ I stayed in the hotel tomo right accross the street a few years ago. I never really went into any of the stores in Japantown except to get a soda at a little restaurant XD Didnt have a whole lot of money then anyway so I couldnt do any shopping even if i wanted to :P

I'd be interested in going but I'd have to know the actual date ahead of time to make plans and I usually go with friends too. It sounds interesting. I usually just take the bus to SF.
btw I'm 18 (I'll be 19 depending on which day the actual event is happening...since my birthday is on the 15th) lol

I guess the dates are between March 12th and 26th so far! Make sure to vote if you haven't so far! As for a place to rendezvous, I was thinking outside the pagoda in Japantown, that is a pretty obvious landmark. We could meet sometime in the afternoon, like 12 or 1pm. Grab lunch and shop, get to know eachother... of course I figure that anyone who needs to arrive later can meet up with us. I am just sketching things out right now. I will close the polls this Saturday so we can have an official date in mind, and start planning on the details. Also if you have anything to add, feel free. Questions? PM me if you want, no big deal! And I can't wait! :)

Don't be shy! This won't be a huge crowd I don't think. And as for age, anyone is invited, and although I may be 24, I am not that mature! Lol! So depending on the day, we would love to have you. Its all about having fun!
Looks like the 12th is gonna win the vote. I'm pretty sure I'll be busy that weekend cuz of the World Poker Tour tournament. If it's the 26th or in San Jose Japantown, I might be able to join you guys.

I don't know anyone either, but the reason I plan on going (if the 26th wins) is so that I could meet some new folks :) Also, I don't think you have to worry about being the only one in that age range. I think a few people mentioned that they were around 18, and that they plan on bringing their friends with em.
Whats funny is that I feel like an elder now (I'm 25) compared to old Fanimafia gatherings of years past when I was one of the youngest.

Wow, its been a while since I've been on the forums. Otakuya, don't feel old, I'm 28. I more and likely won't be able to make a day gathering since I work until about 4 on a Saturday, but after that I'm completely open if anyone is still around.

Hi me and My friend would like to go to the meeting if its ok with u. I was wondering if it ok to cosplay? Also I was wondering, This is my first time going to Fanime and I hope I can make lots of friends. In technical terms this is my first big con. ;D :-*
@tfiachan101 If you want to cosplay that's up to you. In Japantown people have gone there in cosplay before so I'm sure others wouldn't mind. (I wouldn't cosplay because I'll be taking public transportation and I don't want anything to get ruined)
Well that question aside. I'm planning on stopping by Westfield Mall before going to the bus/muni stop for Japantown (probably going to be there around 10-11AM). I'm looking for replacement gloves for my Tifa cosplay and possibly new shoes. So if anyone's interested in joining me and my friends at the mall first then send me a reply or PM.

@Hisuitsume Yeah I think so, the mall is on Market St. and the Powell Bart Station is also across the street from the mall. There's also that giant Ross and other stores around the area.

Fun fun fun! Of course you can dress up if you want, but I wouldn't pick anything too outrageous or something you wouldn't want ruined since we will be walking around, you know! Can't wait to meet!
Well that for all the replies. I just found out that i am going. My friends cant make it with me because of them working but I know I am going to show up. I will cosplay at Shugo Chara Amu, But At the con its actually going to be Full Moon from Full Moon wo Sagashite.

The way I'm going is from the bus terminal/station which is only a couple of blocks away since I'm taking AC transit from where I'm at, Transbay to SF. I'll also be with a group of friends so anyone can join us if you want to.

That sounds good at least it's obvious haha. Well in my situation with my group I'm not sure how long we'll be staying at the mall (depends on mall congestion) and how long it takes for Muni to get to the stop and to Japantown so I, along with my group might be "late."

According to 10 day forecasts, it will rain on the 26th so everybody better plan accordingly unless there's a change in weather. Or if no change happens, then "maybe" put it off until the following saturday. Don't see how everybody can enjoy themselves if it's gunna be drippy outside...
So, they had to move the stuff for my sister's birthday to Sunday instead of Saturday, so now I will be able to show up. I won't be in cosplay, but just look for the guy who looks horribly out of place, probably wearing a black shirt and jeans.

Well happy birthday! I am honored that you will be spending it with us! And of course it is okay to take a picture, we can take tons!
As for the weather, it really is too bad that it will probably be raining, but just break out those umbrellas! Japantown is indoors anyway, so I don't think it will ruin our fun. At this point I think it would be too hard to reschedule.

Oh, and I'm seventeen turning eighteen two months after the con, since we're mentioning age and all that. My parents won't be dropping me off/picking me up, I'll be taking bart/bus to Japan town. Lastly, I'm not that shy and If you are, I'll try not to be 'all up in your grill' asking questions and what-not.

Thx for wishing me a happy birthday. I will be turning 23 years old. Please u dont have to spend money on me. I have a umbrella to use so my outfit wont get dirty and wet. But I will think about the cosplay because my parents sats i shouldnt cosplay either. So I am happy for this saturday.

My friend (who is also going to the gathering) told me that her cousin said that there's a prediction that on Saturday, there is gonna be an earthquake in CA that's bigger than Japan's. She says the person that predicted this is the same person that predicted the big earthquake in SF in 19something.
Just seeing if anyone else heard of this? I'm not sure if it's really true but just wanted everyone to know. Nvm, it was a fake warning.
