Maybe you can rent it out to someone staying overnight in the convention center who didn't get a room for $26 a night.

If I see someone sleeping on a rollaway outside the dealer's hall i'll know where it came from.

Quote from: Captain L0Lpants on January 18, 2011, 01:29:44 PMIf the glomp came at you any less than if, for example, you had a football during a game & a linebacker was trying to take you down, that can't be called assault.

No, because like I said before, it can be considered battery.

I spoke to the person who handles group bookings and she was as perplexed as anyone else. I'd wonder if it were some sort of a cash grab but the Hilton is a good, respectable hotel and I can't picture them doing something that underhanded, and there was no problem booking without the rollaway and extra fees on the Thursday through Monday. It's only the Wednesday that gave me this issue.

It's all very odd XD

The only Hilton I ever stayed at had puke in the sink when we walked in the room. We got yelled at when asked it be cleaned up. So, yeah.

And I don't think it's so much as a "cash grab" as it is they set up rooms with guaranteed rollaways so more people will show interest in a king-size room, because if you couldn't guarentee a rollaway, nobody would take it. But then you're all, "Um, yeah, I don't want one" and all the Hilton employees start shaking their fists and are all, "Curse you for upsetting our fancy booking system MOONBLOSSOOOOOOOOOOOM!!"

Also this thread has me wanting a hug  :(

I shall have my lawyers draft a consent form and contact your lawyers for approval. You must sign and initial the appropriate spots. Within 7-10 business weeks, we will be able to complete our hug transaction. I look forward to doing business.

Excellent. However with the current exchange rate of USH to CAH (that's US Hugs to Canadian hugs for those non-economic types) so close to even, and anticipated fluctuations of the hug index, I don't see them getting this done in less than 8 weeks, even 9 is probably optimistic.

I think there stands a notable precedent back in 1994 where there was a standard 3 second hug given AND reciprocated between a man from Saskatoon and another man from Montanna where the rate fluctuated between the time of agreement of said hug and the time of execution of said hug, so that should speed things up a bit.

I too look forward to our transaction.

Even unwarrented glomping can be considered harassment. If they're doing it to you, they're probably doing it to many other people and need to be told it's not acceptable without permission.

Unwanted physical contact is considered battery. Glomping someone who doesn't want it could considered a misdemeanor.

Glomping is serious business.

Go up to the next level in the hotel chain. Although it's possible the hotel sets rooms up that way to make a little extra cash to take advantage of the extra traffic the con brings.

I'm from Canada, and did not bother bringing any pants. Just shorts.

This has been another useless comment.

Yeah, I gotta say age ranges would make me feel a whole lot more comfortable.

As long as there's still a gender mix in my age group...

I'm not from here! I have my own customs! Look at my crazy passport!

As someone who comes from the distant country of Canada, land of maple syrup and igloos and hockey, I wonder if there are any other Canadians who attend FanimeCon, or if they're all just Axis Powers fans. So! I figure why not get everyone in the same place and snap a photo, wave some tiny flags, and maybe sing our national anthem.

And THEN I though, "Hey, maybe there's people from other countries who want to get together for the same thing."

So, anyone interested?

First anime=Steamboat Willie created in 1928.

Correction. Humorous Phases of Funny Faces in 1906.

Correction to your correction:
QuoteThe first animated film was created by Charles-Émile Reynaud, inventor of the praxinoscope, an animation system using loops of 12 pictures. On October 28, 1892 at Musée Grévin in Paris, France he exhibited animations consisting of loops of about 500 frames, using his Théâtre Optique system - similar in principle to a modern film projector.

As another international attendee (Canadian), what I do is try and credit my PayPal account when the exchange rates are best with enough money to register, so when the time comes that I decide to pay my registration fees, I won't get charged super-high exchange rates.

Knowing Hollywood I doubt they're go by the manga. It will prob be based on the Japanese live action movie. <<

But of course.
And they won't be faithful to that either.

Psssht, how can you say that about a movie that features the music of the Red Hot Chili Peppers? That's totally on theme!

*nods seriously*

  • All con attendees must wear shoes at all times while in public areas of the convention center and attached hotels. Even if a character goes barefoot, the cosplayer must wear shoes.

Is this posted anywhere else other than the cosplay rules? I couldn't find it. I mention this because I slipped off my sandals and walked around the swap meet and nobody said nothin'. I kinda figured it was okay because I saw what I think was a rover going barefoot in the main hallways. People other than cosplayers may want to go barefoot.[/list]

Everyone here already knows basic hygeine and nutrition.  Con sickness is bound to happen because of the crowds at con.

That's not what the stereotypes say!

Not trying to start an argument or anything, but thanks for the tip on low blood sugar signs, SilverHawk.
