Hey Magi fans!
First of all thank you Naiagu, JazzJuicebox, and Miriam for helping me organize and run the gathering. Thank you to our awesome photographer Tye Lokka. Thank you to BSaphire for organizing all the gatherings!
This year was super fun! We had so many more people show up than expected so we were really short on space, but I will be requesting a larger space next year so we have more stretch room. Hopefully everyone got to see their photos, if not, check one of the later posts, the link should be there.
I really hope we get another big crowd returning like this year. Hope to see everyone and their awesome Magi cosplay next year!

Thank you everyone for coming out to the gathering, you all really made my day. Magi Sundays are the best after all, so I will be continuing this gathering next year in hopes that we still have fans cosplaying on Sunday.
We had some problems with the photographer not showing up, but we had a last minute fill in so if you didn't catch it, his photos will be uploaded onto http://fanime.slickpic.com/collections/Sunday12pm1pm/?wallpaper. Thank you, again! for coming out to the gathering this year. I've been too lazy to search up any photos and I'm not really sure where to find them, but if you do, please post the link! Thank you for another great year, it was fun getting to hang out with you guys and reconnect with a few.
I've been thinking about this for the past year and I think that next year may be my last year hosting the Magi gathering. I consider this gathering to be my little baby, but by next year it would have been a good 4 years. And I'll be moving onto college, so I think that this is a good time to let go and move on. If there is anyone who would like to take on this gathering, please message me and I will be (a little reluctant) but happy to hand it off. Gatherings are a little stressful, but fun nonetheless. So I hope that everyone will continue to bring the energy to the community as we move on. Sorry for the gloomy post, but let's make next year another great year!

Your choice of time is very well suited : ) For families who go to church in the morning mass usually ends at around 12 noon which gives them an hour or so tops to make it the gathering if it started at 11. Also it's perfect for the other church goers who go in the afternoon which usually are around 4pm or so and fits well if the gathering ends around 3 or so : ) (At least that's what I know when it comes to my family asdfghjkl)
I also have a few suggestions on some photos groups such as (depending on the variety of cosplayers that will be present)
The Magi
The Fanalis
The Eight Generals
Djinn (if anyone cosplays them)
The Fog Troupe (if anyone cosplays them)
And then some battle poses between two groups (ex: Good vs Evil) and then battle between individual characters (ex: Aladdin vs Judal)
Also I am in the process of looking for photographers among my friends. I will try to get back to you on that as soon as I can : )

Yay! I'm glad this is happening!! Looks like I will be dragging my boyfriend as Alibaba afterall, I just need to cut his sash, sew his shirt and cloak and get him some shoes and he's good to go! I was thinking of making a sign that said "Magi Gathering" and just holding it up at our meeting spot to grab attention so we are easier to find.
@MaigoLily: The tree area is actually a pretty nice area especially for our genre (btw I finally caught up to the anime and manga haha). There is enough greenery and it's pretty sunny on that side. (that is if we're talking about the side closest to the Marriot). I took pictures of the Hetalia gathering there last year for some friends and there were SO MANY OF THEM but the area was still pretty large. So if there will be around 20 or so of us then it's a perfect size for both the cosplayers and the photographers. There is a similar area on the other side of the building (on the right side of the building when you first enter the con) which we could move to in case there is another Gathering going on. Though I really wished I lived near the convention center to see what the renovations look like and get a better understanding of the area.
I've managed to grab one of my friends to photograph the entire gathering :D Not a professional but he knows how to artistically use a camera x) I believe his girlfriend will take pictures as well but I don't know if she has a camera or not (i think she just might use her phone or something)
Nice! Do you think he can upload the pictures somewhere where everyone can find their picture? If it's not too much work. And if he is okay with it, I will put his name under main photographers. If not, we can just put him as JazzJuicebox's scouted photographer. :)
I also think we could use a megaphone. So I don't have to yell at the top of my lungs which I am really bad at... Do you have a random one laying around or know where to find one?

As for the megaphone, you can usually find one at a Best Buy, Target, WalMart, or any sports store I believe ^^

I submitted my request for the gathering for Sunday, so the gathering will most likely be on Sunday unless there is a conflict with another gathering with the same date, time, location. Did you have a plan in mind?

You can just put us on the Look Out list, I'll be Alibaba and my friend will be Mor on Saturday.

Sorry for being late to the party. I just got done with Sakuracon and all my focus was on that and work. I will have a Morgiana (her name is Misse) and my Hakuryuu is Laurie (neither Misse or Laurie have accounts)

Aww well the bracelets in your photo look pretty good ^^ I'll probably post some pictures next week once the weekend is over maybe asdfghjkl so many things going @.@ I'm so excited~ this year is going to be the best for me in terms of cosplay ^^

I like this list of photos. I think we should have either two "whole group pictures" or one closer to the end of the gathering, that way if anyone comes late they still get to be in a picture. Also, we might want to make a little room for requests from people taking pictures.
Oops, change of plans - I lost my wig somewhere. Instead of Aladdin, I might be there as Yamuraiha. I'll at least show up to take pictures of you guys!

A little update, a friend of mine with a pretty good camera is coming with me so I'll drag him over to take pictures :3 I am excited to get to meet you all~
I made my pants for Judal yesterday. I am terrible at sewing but they came out really good. I kinda want to make the crotch lower but that would require a lot more work and I am afraid I may end up ruining them and have to start over. But here they are

Should I try to make the crotch lower or leave them as is? Also the picture doesn't do them justice. I want to get some more shots of Judal soon so hopefully I will have some updated pictures. Next up is to remake the necklace and touch up the wig and I am good to go!
Yay! Progress pictures! So in my opinion, I wouldn't want to make the crotch lower because you end up with a weird looking crotch area because of added fabric or if you don't add fabric, you lose a bit of leg mobility. So depending on how much leg mobility you are comfortable with or how much it bothers you, you can bring down the crotch area a bit, but if you don't want to take the chance, stay on the safe side. It doesn't hurt being on the safe side, like for a character like Pisti with a huge slit down the front, I took that out. Not gonna do that...And when I have already finished making something, I tend to not go back and fix it because I have had a horrible experience! Let's just say it was like humpty dumpty.
BTW I still have not yet started on my cosplay. But not to worry, your procrastinating organizer will start this weekend! And I have not procrastinated on the gathering! Just the cosplay!...hahaha...
Ohh~ nice pants!! ^^ I just finished mine and the sash as well. I don't have a full mirror so I'll take a picture tomorrow or when I finish my vest as well so you can see the complete :3 I made the pants by scratch so I'm not sure if it looks okay haha it's baggy though so that's okay ^^

Hey everybody! As you should already know, our plans are now offical, so please check the first post if you have not yet done so!
Hope everyone has been working on their cosplay! (I haven't started...hehe) and ordered their tickets (not yet either...hehe).
As a few reminders, which I will be posting up more soon, please wear shoes! Even though we have many characters who do not wear shoe, please wear them! We are taking picture in the bark. We do not want any cut feet, though I will be bringing band-aids, I hope no one needs any!
So as I was going through our photography order, I noticed that we only have one villan. Our lonely Judal. Therefore I will be taking villans out because that is basically only Judal. However, if we do have more villains show up, I will throw it in. Also, please check the updated photography list. I tried to have each character at least once, but I ended up a few characters many times due to pairings I found on the internet. You know your character best so if you want a certain picture, please request it at the end or where ever you feel fit.

You're welcome! I can't say that I am sure what I'm doing, but I hope that with everyone's help, this will be a very fun gathering.
So, I have finally gotten most of my materials, but I am not yet done because I still haven't touched my costume...hahaha...most of my convention stuff are still not ready, but do not worry, this gathering will happen! I am so excited!!!! I made the Magi Gathering 2013 sign last night. If you get lost look for Mor with the sign! It has a fun drawing of Alibaba and Aladdin on it. I wanted to take a picture of it last night but it was 2am and I can't find my camera ;-;
Ahhh!!! It's close... I managed to finish my Aladdin cosplay in time U v U But no flute since I really dislike anything dangling from my neck ;~;

Sorry I've been out for a while with testing.
As for the events, I'm not really sure how to open it to public because it only shows the option open invite which is friends of those invited can join. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Hmm, shouldn't it be able to set the events page to public? Otherwise if it's set to private no one can really get into it unless invited...

Under Privacy, when you edit the event, there should be a public option.

Does anyone know if there were Fanime photographers this year? The slickpic ones. I had issues with them not showing up last year and it seems I didn't see them this year either. Can't find any photos either.
I have two Magi Characters I want to cosplay as this year, is this gathering going to happen this year or no? o-o
Yes! The gathering will be making it's last round this year, on the same day, but possibly an earlier time.
Apparently the system is going to be different this year so I am not sure how it is going to work, but I will do my best.

I hope it all works out, I have Kouha ready and partly a Morgiana and a Hakuryuu and been thinking if I should try to do Hakuei too but for the gathering I will go with who ever we need the most to make it more fun I think it will be more fun to have as many as the characters as possible. I also have someone who wants to cosplay Magi with me so I hope he will be there with me ^///^

The new method is a little unclear to me (after all I've been following the old format for 3 years and I'm pretty busy) so honestly I don't know if it will happen this year. The turnout for this gathering has been slowly declining, but the series is moving towards an end so it would be nice to hold a gathering. It has been 3 years and it is about time that I move on to greater projects, so this may be the last gathering I will be running, but I am willing to give the position to anyone who wants to take over. (Preferably, I'd have them as a Assistant Organizer this year for a smooth transition.) I am willing to extend the opportunity to anyone willing to help me run the event!
I haven't gotten many responses for cosplayers wanting to attend this gathering it is likely that there will not be a gathering this year. I will however leave this open until mid-April in case there are people wanting to attend.
I don't want to jump the gun, but thank you for the great run these past 3 years. Thank you for all the support! I was young and inexperienced, I made a lot of mistakes, but we had our good share of ups and downs. The Magi community will always have a special place in my heart. If you see me around, feel free to come up for a chat! And someone please talk to me about the new Magi updates lol xD

Sorry, I didn't check back till now and its already convention time lol. I'm on my phone right now, I brought both of my Magi cosplays just in case, either way I hope to see more Magi cosplayers this weekend :) I will be Hakuryuu and Kouha this weekend, I already saw a other Hakuryuu today, she was really nice. I will be Kouha tomorrow <3
