General Anime Chat / Favorite Robot Anime Character!
March 14, 2005, 04:52:20 PM
If I could only pick one from anime, It'd have to be Tetsuan Atom, having watched Astroboy as a kid (probably my first anime).  But... if I could pick any animated robot, It would have to be Bender from Futurama.   :D

General Convention Discussion / History of Fanime?
March 06, 2005, 12:52:12 AM
I've been attending since '01, and evey year has been better than the last!  I kind of miss the old con center to, but at least there are more rooms available, more space, and lots of places to eat near by.   I wonder how many years it will be until Fanime takes up the entire convention center.  :?

General Anime Chat / Do you like... One Piece?
March 03, 2005, 12:06:56 PM
Quote from: "Shinsengumi"I do like One Piece but only the original version not the One Piece of crap from Fox Box the 4 shame entertainment version.
But wait,  it gets worse... The Fox Box is Now 4Kids TV (yech!).
That probaly explains why eveything they've got pretty much blows (except fo The Cramp Twins, oh wait thats right, that got bumped by Mew Mew Power!). :x

February 25, 2005, 01:21:49 AM
So many tunes...
If I had to pick one, I don't think I could,  but here are some of my favorites  opening theams (not in any particular order).

H.T.-Trigun
Trust-Vandread
Tank-Cowboy Bebop
Soramimi Cake-Azumanga Daioh
Ju Kyu no News-Kodomo no Omacha
Love Tropicana-Jungle Wa Itsumo Hlae no chi Gu

And some of my favorite ending theames...

The Omellet song-Dragon Half
And the first ending tune from Urusei Yatsura (that I for the life of me I can't remember the title of).

General Anime Chat / So...where do you buy your anime?
February 21, 2005, 07:33:01 PM
Well, today I found a new place to buy some Anime...
While shopping a a local Big Lot's store, I accidently ran across some VIZ DVD's, and VHS.  I actualy found some Ranma 1/2, Trouble Chocolate, Corrector Yui, Yu Gi Oh, Zoids, and Hamtaro volumes, for the low price of $3.99!  ( okay, so I passed up the Hamtaro DVD's).
I've also seen ADV DVD's at Walgreens, but they usualy run at $9.99, and are mostly their non-Anime titles.

Quote from: "MainStageTech"Cheering for inanimate objects left onstage during masquerade has gone on for a long time. The first one I can think of that I recall was a large prop (foam or paper-mache, not sure which) rock left onstage at San Diego ComicCon's masquerade... I think in 1994 or 1995 I'm not quite sure.

Since then there have been all sorts of fun variant "rock" skits at SDCC.
It was at SDCC in 95 (I was there).  I belive it was the last time that the masquerade was held at the old convention center ( but the con itself has been at the new convention center since 1990).  If I can find it, I have a video tape of the infamous "Rock" chant  (I'm sure there are other people that have  videos also).

General Anime Chat / So...where do you buy your anime?
January 12, 2005, 10:04:28 PM
Quote from: "RyuDOA2Hayabusa"Mine's either Best Buy or Fry's Electronics for the physical stores, and for online, rightstuf.com :D
I sometime buy from Fry's, and Best Buy, but the ones in my area (South L.A.County) seem to have a limited selection.
I've had better luck finding titles from Jungle Anime(for both domestic, and imports), DVD Planet, and Sam Goody.  Suncoast is good, but there isn't one near me.

Buying $800.00 worth of R2 DVDs at AX 2001, and then running around to every local electronics retailer to find a (B stock) Pioneer DVD 505 player, tearing it open, and doing a region modification so I could play $800.00 worth of R2 DVDs!
