Thank you to everyone who made it out today! I hope it was a fun experience, and I loved seeing the amazing cosplays and hearing your creative ideas for poses! Also, huge shout out to our official Fanime photographer, who stayed late in order to accommodate our 7:30 time slot. :)

I'm hoping to have unofficial photos up by Monday. In the meantime, here is a link to a photo of our last pose -- enjoy!
Fanime is almost upon us! Here are a few reminders for our gathering on Friday:

1. We will aim to start about 2-3 minutes after 7:30pm, to give everyone a chance to find the location and decide if we would like to take advantage of outside lighting. My aim is to finish in 10-15 minutes so those who want to head to the Swap Meet can get in line.

2. I am 90% sure I will be dressed as Reiji Akaba from ARC-V, but on the off chance that I will not be able to cosplay that evening, I will be wearing some sort of shirt with Yugi on it so that y'all can find me.

3. I will also be holding a Yu-Gi-Oh! + spinoffs logo sign (see the first post in this thread), so keep an eye out for that if that's easier.

Hope everyone will be able to make it on Friday, and please do spread the word if you see other YGO cosplayers during the day~
Less than two weeks to go until Fanime! I hope everyone's cosplays are going smoothly.

Just dropping by with the ending theme for Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS, the newest spinoff series. Think we'll see any cosplay from it???
I've only gotten one autograph at Fanime before, so I'm probably not the best person to answer this, but my experience is that there will not be prints at the autograph session, so you should bring something for the guest to sign.

If you're not sure what to bring, one thing I've seen people do in the past is go to Artist Alley, commission a piece of fanart related to something the guest has done, and ask him/her to sign that. I personally have asked guests to sign cosplay props before as well, though idk if that's applicable for The Nostalgia Critic haha.
My sister and I will be there as Pokemon GO trainers!
Yes. I received an email with the QR code on November 30 from
If you registered online, then you prepaid. If you're not sure, you can always check your email and/or bank/card statements to see if you were charged for Fanime.
Yay, glad you can join us!
The gatherings list actually has been updated on Facebook, just hasn't been posted on the forums yet. Here's a link:
Great news! Our gathering time has officially been approved. The YGO cosplay gathering will take place on Friday, May 26, at 7:30pm at G3 (the steps to your right when you enter the convention center).
Great, added you to the list! Can't wait to see your Dark Magician Girl cosplay! :)
That would be awesome if you were able to join as Kaiba! Hopefully we'll make it onto the official gatherings list soon and get a set time down. I also hope you enjoy your first Fanime. :)
Quick update: still waiting on official approval from the cosplay staff. Please keep your fingers crossed! :)
Should we resubmit our application if we didn't make it onto the list of gatherings released on 4/21? I received confirmation of my submission on 4/14, but it doesn't seem to have gone through. e_e;
Yay, glad you and your friend will be able to make it! Please help spread the word, especially if you see any YGO cosplayers at the Old School gathering. ;)

I've been keeping an eye on sunset times the past week, and there should still be enough light at 7:30 come Memorial Day weekend. I requested an indoor location just in case, but we can always move outside if the natural lighting is cooperative. I don't anticipate that our gathering will be that big anyhow.
Post reserved for news.

4/14 Gathering form submitted to Imperial. Time requested was 7:30pm on Friday, location is G3 (the steps to your right when you enter the convention center).

5/2 Gathering officially approved!

Hi everyone! I'm back to host the Yu-Gi-Oh! gathering. Last time was my first time hosting a gathering, and it was such a treat to see all of your amazing cosplay (and, of course, the crazy wigs)! I hope you all can join again this year.

Sorry to double post, but just heard back from Imperial, and we will likely be able to do a late Friday gathering. I'll make a new thread for the gathering since we're now official! :)
All right, quick update on where the YGO gathering stands.

1) Most likely, the gathering will be on Monday. I just learned I have to pick up somebody at the airport after work on Friday, so I don't want to press my luck by scheduling a 7:00 or 7:30 gathering and then miss it because of airline issues. However, this is not set in stone, since both Friday and Monday have their pros and cons.

2) Funnily enough, Monday is not an option on the gathering submission form, so I PM'd and emailed Imperial to see if gatherings could take place on Monday or late Friday, but I have yet to receive a response. Could be he's super busy, so I'm going to give him a little more time.

3) I am willing to host this again but will likely request an indoor location so I don't have to scream haha. If anyone has venue preferences, do let me know!

Being new here, I'm unfamiliar with the designations G(2,3,7, etc..) for the areas of the convention space and referencing the fanimecon map hasn't helped. Is there a graphic/explanation available that can help me orient myself? Thank you, I appreciate any help.
Here is a link to how Imperial defines the locations:,20460.msg488257.html#msg488257
But keep in mind that G4 (The Hub) is not being used for cosplay gatherings this year.

There is also a Facebook album from last year that has pictures of the locations:

Hope these help! :)
