So me being asian (BIG SHOCK!) we're mostly superstitious...
- charms on doors and walkways
- only money from a red evelope is lucky
- dont leave your chopsticks standing in your rice
- our food will fill you up only to have you hungry again in 30 mins
- apparently its good to have animals on your calendar

anyway, 8.8.08 is suppose to have some posperous stuff going on that day.
Recently my fate was handed to me via a fortune cookie:

In case you cant read it, it says-
You will take a chance in the near future, and win.

dood, I must follow the cookies orders. :)
I am away at Ani-Jam this weekend but I figure next weekend if anyone wants to try their luck at a Casino... why not?

There's tons of radio ads for the Cash Creek Casino supposedly doing stuff for the 8.8.08 psuedo holiday.

unforunately i'm not off until 6pm and the drive into that area is at least 3 hours, so anyone want to try their "asian" luck between 10pm and midnight?

otherwise, who wants a 'quiet' poker or heck Chaotic Custom Uno game night?
eh, I'm just randomly throwing it out there. So dont pay no mind.  :P

I was trying to find the "old" thread, but might as well make a new one!  :)

So as some of you may know, with FanimeCon only being last week, you still crave some random socialization with friends or new ppl that have similar interests with you. But you think you have no new friends or no place to hang out and gather?...

Not true!
Welcome to the Fanime forums - Friday Night hang outs!
A Core of Fanime Forum friends hang out almost every (other) Friday at place called Tapioca Express in Milpitas.

Location: 1720 N Milpitas Boulevard Milpitas, CA 95035
Time: usually 8~9pm til close or we disperse.

They/we usually for the most part hang out talk about anime, video games and whatever comes to mind while drinking pearl tea and snack on apetizers!

New Friends of Fanime are always welcome!
just look for the laptops, Psp's, DS's, and the generally nerdy vibe from a random group of 5+ people invading TapX as we now call it :D

If you're a bit on the shy side and still need to hide behind a computer screen, there's also another thread for Screen names via- aim, yahoo, hotmail, gmail, facebook, myspace and various chat server thingies and you could meet and greet people there as well!

Welcome to Forums and may you all have fun while making new friends and discussing random things on the internets! PM me or ask for my number for more details or carpooling.

C-ya around!

So a random thought.

Ever since college ive always been intrigued by Horrible roommate stories...

I guess I've been 'mostly' lucky in the sense that I've never had a roommate from hell. but I've heard SO MANY f'in stories about how crazy, retaliation, fights and down right some ppl fear their lives and personal items due to being in a living situation of the random luck. or lack thereof.

I could share a few of the stories ive heard and even include minor issues ive had with previous roomies in previous years. but I'm curious if you guys wouldnt mind sharing ur stories too.

think about it, ppl meet randomly even at fanime or random strangers crash a room or a new person crashes for the nite only for it to end in absolute choas... u know you want to get it off ur chest, and maybe someone else's story is WORSE than yours.

have at it.

Gaming / Guitar Hero: On Tour
March 26, 2008, 07:40:26 AM
http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=180517

So I was randomly looking up new games when i found this...

i was like wow. omg. GH on the DS?

I'm curious how they QA'ed this new device, but definately they did their research...

it will have co-op, battle and i guess im a bit blown away.

After 4 GH games (1,2,3 and 80's) and now with Aerosmith and On tour on its way... that plus rock band (now also on wii?) and most likely rock band 2 in development...

is anyone still interested? or is it time to rock out 4-eva ?

Discuss.  :P
#88
Sorry if this is in the wrong section...
I think from previous years... If my memory serves me we use have music  on the ConCourse (the main walkway areas of the Con) to play a sorta background or ambiance for the setting of Fanime.

Previous years they had random anime/J rock tracks and other times I think just general generic music.

Some years it was too loud, and other years the music was accidentally embedded into the minds of the Artist in their Alley.

So Rant aside, is there a way to vote for said background music? or are we getting rid of it all together?

Discuss.

So...

Having no Clue about when Heroes will return to Monday nights... I was getting worried if any new show would be able to pick up my dorky sci-fi fix... and i think i found it:

http://www.fox.com/terminator/

so basically IGNORE Terminator 3...

and this movie takes place give or take roughly after the events of terminator 2 (give or take some time)

John Conner who ironically is played by Thomas Dekker (he was in the FIRST Season of Heroes... looks like he found a new job quick...)

And if you guys KNOW FireFly/Serenty - then of course you may also recognize the Summer Glau now as the PROTECTOR Terminator aka Cameron.

The premiere of the show aired tonight, but part 2 ( 2hour first episode ) will be on tomorrow Monday night at 9pm.

So far if you're an old school dork of SCI-FI goodness... nothing like a kid who's suppose to be the fate of mankind protected by 2 women (his mom and his hot killer robot)...  :D

I'll leave with this awesome pic and feel free to give your two cents here.

http://imdb.com/gallery/ss/0851851/terminator_poster3.jpg.html?path=gallery&path_key=0851851&seq=5

http://imdb.com/gallery/ss/0851851/terminator_poster1.jpg.html?path=gallery&path_key=0851851&seq=25

I'll be back.  8)

Gaming / How do you feel about sequels/console jumping?
December 27, 2007, 07:53:47 AM
So I'm old school and start looking up an (playstation 1 game) called Parasite Eve.

And maybe I was under a rock when it was announced at TGS 2007, but I didnt realize that a 'not a [Pe] sequel' called " the 3rd Birthday "

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_3rd_Birthday

I was look cool. I liked this series... (click here to read more)...

Then I was like aww... its gonna be on a cell phone based game?

course this isnt the first game to jump consoles for a sequel related game.

I was also sad to find out that Ace Combat 6 (another cool flight/action sim) is 'only' on Xbox 360...

So what do you guys think? So I just not gripe about games jumping platforms and media and just buy/emulate everything?  :P
Just need to find that money tree first...

Also please mention random games/sequels that are worth checking out...
Now back to more after x-mas sales.  :)
#93
So here I thought I was the only one crazy among us here that had way too much stuff in his room whether anime or video game related...

This guy puts me to shame...

Things in the Universe / "Heroes" Chat...
October 23, 2007, 08:47:01 AM
Well keep in mind there might be spoilers - random conspiracy theories and blah blah blah

Enjoy. Rant. Play.

Anyway I'm pretty much all caught up, and now we have a few 'new' abilities:

a girl who controls lightning element and the copy-cat ability, mind trap/nightmares ability.

Cool. I still think there should be someone who controls the weather.

and popular demand is for a Blue or furry character running around.

Any ideas conspiracy theories?

an ability to take down an entire japanese army?

random ideas of whats to come...  ::)

on behalf of our Lovely Mai-Chan herself:

Quote from: "Mai-chan"
an evening/afternoon operetta; Mademoiselle Modiste
(Yes, I know, holy crap I live.)

Afternoon, all! Hope everyone's having a lovely Labour Day Weekend...

In any case, I told some of you that this was coming up, but I thought I'd post it and make a public Fanimafia invite. (Thank Ryu for reminding me.) I'm performing as a soloist in San Jose Lyric Opera's production of Mademoiselle Modiste; everyone is welcome!

Here's the info:

http://www.lyrictheatre.org/tickets/tix_show1.php

Students/youth are $17 for Sat/Sun shows in Tier One and $14 in Tier Two, and 13/12 for Tier One/Two on Thursday and Friday shows. (Not expensive!) It will be at the Montgomery Theatre in downtown San Jose.

Perhaps the boards can pick a congregation day? A day for the Fanimafia to infiltrate the operetta and take over SJ Lyric Theatre? I'd love to have you guys; it's going to be a really cute show, and I know many of you would love it. (And, most of you have never heard me sing in a professional setting! So there you go.) I know Jerry's coming...
