May 4 update: All spots taken.  See you at Fanime!

Our group has room for 2 more roommates at the main Marriott hotel.

Simple common-sense rules:
- Be responsible and respect other people's things / costumes, and don't steal
- Be clean hygienic, shower, NO SMOKING in the room
- We don't mind if you stay up late, or drink lightly
- Don't bring a shiton of strangers back into the room for a room party (we're not sticklers if you bring a friend in to chill out)

If you're interested, feel free to email me at: [email protected]
and
give a brief info about yourself or Facebook link (I don't need an essay, lol)

Thanks. See you at Fanime :)

April 8 update:  All spots taken.  Thanks.  Have a good time at Fanime!

We're coming back to Fanime!!!

Our group has room for 2 more roommates at the main Marriott hotel.   This is prime location, connected to the convention center, very convenient!!!  Either guys or girls are OK, most of us are mid-20's, and enjoy cosplaying. We're clean, responsible, easy to get along with, and like to have a good time at conventions.

Check-in on Thurs., May 26, Check-out on Tues., May 31, total of 5 nights.

--- Room price ---
We have a room booked with two double-beds.

Our room rates are cheaper than the discounted Fanime price. However, we don't cram the room like sardines. We like to give everyone some personal space to relax. If you like to cosplay, you'll have space to put your stuff.

Hi everyone, I've finished posting the various cosplay snapshots from Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday on my Facebook page. Nice to see friends again and meet some new cosplayers.

You can also view other convention photos and photoshoots on the page.  I'm working on the Fanime mini-shoots and photoshoots right now.  Upcoming Fanime photos for cosplay gatherings include:
Nintendo, Madoka Magica, Final Fantasy, Gundam, Princess Tutu, Doctor Who, and Sailor Moon

Aiming to have them posted around the June 9/10 weekend.

Just log in to Facebook to see all the galleries, otherwise you won't see some of the links.

First of all, I'd like to thank the staff and volunteers at Fanime.  Sorry, I forgot to do that at the feedback panel.  Even with the hiccups, it was an enjoyable Fanime.  I'm from Canada, but I'm definitely looking forward to attending Fanime again.

Black & White Ball: Location was great this year (the Fairmont hotal last year was crowded).  Please use Parkside Hall again.  Didn't notice any long lineups, there was room to dance about, and the music selection was better than last year.

Schedule: Please upload something to the website earlier.  I don't care if it's version 1, version 2, or even a draft.  Put a giant "CAUTION - SUBJECT TO CHANGE" on the first page if you have to.  I find it hard to believe that every panel/event is approved a day before the con.  Just post something up a week beforehand, so that we can at least have an idea on what to expect, and start working on our schedules.

Registration lines: I was in that 6 hour line on Thursday.  Even Friday and Saturday had huge lines.  Looks like more attendees than last year?

Panels: I didn't attend many panels, but those lines at the Marriott looked messy.  Hopefully the convention centre expansion will offer more space for panel lineups.

Cosplay Gatherings: My biggest gripe is with one of the staff photographers (the big, tall guy).  Dude, please give us SOME TIME TO TAKE the photos, BEFORE you start the 5-second countdown.  Especially with the large gatherings when there might be 10+ people in a pose.  As a photographer, I'm trying to shoot more than just one pic, ie: a wide group shot, a few individual portraits, and a video clip).  Also, let the gathering orgranizers dictate the flow and poses.  They can ask you for help if they run out of ideas.  Isn't the job of the staff photographer just to observe and snap some shots of the gathering?

Fanime's group gatherings are one of the biggest thing that I look forward to, even more than Anime Expo's gatherings.  This year, I felt so disappointed that the staff photographer rushed all of the poses at the group gatherings.  5 to 10 seconds before the countdown would be appreciated.  As long as the gathering finishes on time for the next group, what's the hurry?

See you all next year!

I really liked the dance lessons, especially at night time, when the instructors were able to teach us more in one session (since I assume there were fewer people).

I didn't realize there were "Level II" lessons, I thought they were all "Level I" on multiple days.  So if I missed Waltz I on Day 1, then I would go to Waltz I on Day 2.  Had I known there were "Level II" lessons, I would have planned my schedule differently.  I don't even recall seeing any listing on the website or printouts with a "II" marker.

As for the location of the lessons, I didn't like it at the Fairmont because it didn't make it easy to "just drop by" and check what's going on.  To make matters worse, if you're a photographer walking around with expensive camera equipment, I had to make the decision of putting away the gear before heading over to the lessons during day time.  Also, the crosswalks take a really long time to change lights.  That easily wasted 20 minutes back-and-forth for valuable lesson time, per session.

Other than that, thanks for providing so many opportunities to sample the dance lessons.  If I go to Fanime again next year, I'll be sure to drop by for more lessons :)

Hi,
I'm from out of town, first time attending Fanime.  I've read the dress code info sheet, and I have some questions regarding the attire for the Black and White ball.

(1) I will be wearing dress pants and dress shoes.  As for the top, is it OK to wear dress shirt and vest (or dress shirt only, rather than suit jacket, because I assume it will be really warm/hot inside)?

(2) Just for clarification, this is not a masquerade ball, right?  That is, we don't have to wear masks?

Thanks.
