Then pick-up for group registrations couldn't happen, and you'd have to wear the same paper bracelet from Thursday to Sunday.

Unfortunately, there IS no permanent fix for having too many attendees and too few hotel rooms. Every fix always causes more problems, so all you can do is hope that the net effect is positive.

In my experience they don't deviate much from the exact wording, so if it says "orange", pink won't be acceptable.

This is a snippet from the California senate bill about BB and airsoft guns referencing federal regulations, so it should serve as a good guideline:

Quote...white, bright red, bright orange, bright yellow, bright green, bright blue, bright pink, or bright purple, either singly or as the predominant color in combination with other colors in any pattern, as provided by federal regulations governing imitation firearms, or where the entire device is constructed of transparent or translucent materials which permits unmistakable observation of the device's complete contents, as provided by federal regulations governing imitation firearms.

So if the entire gun was painted bright pink, or with a bright purple and bright blue pattern, it'd be acceptable.

Theres the Sheraton downtown which was not listed for some reason?

Not every hotel in the area is willing to be part of the Fanime housing.

Thanks!

...you'd think the Registration & Hotel Support Center would have a link to that...

The FAQ talks about deadlines, but doesn't mention what they are...

I was hoping to get an early hotel reservation but i don't remember if they have deals and such, such as ordering through Fanime.Com and you get VIP or discount like it was for me at SacAnime.

Most of the hotels in the San Jose downtown area (including the attached ones) are already reserved for FanimeCon. You'll get a deal, but it's also the only way to get a hotel so they go in about an hour.

So should i make my reservations now since the dates are already up there or should i wait until official announcement? money is not necessarily a factor for me but would it also be possible to get that deal even though i made reservations ahead of time?

The hotels are already reserved by Fanime housing so the only way to get one is through them, and those are the only hotels to offer the Fanime rate. Only book now if you're okay with paying more for a hotel that won't be that close to the con.

The FanimeCon room rate for the hotels is about half of what you'd normally pay.

Fanime has already reserved most of the hotels in the area, you could book a hotel now but it would be more expensive and not as convenient.

The best thing to do is monitor the forums, Facebook page, and Twitter account, and then get everyone you're going with to try and book it over the phone and website the minute it goes live.

The plan was nixed but a technical glitch meant it happened that way anyway. You couldn't book a hotel unless you'd already paid for your badge.
#33
The thing is it did happen, and it did not not help a little.
#34
Thing is that happened by accident last year and rooms still went in no time at all.

No. Well, you're not supposed to, but they messed it up last year. And it's not about getting a discount, it's about getting a hotel at all. All the Fanime hotels are currently reserved for fanime so if you tried to book one right now it'd be unavailable.

Technically you shouldn't need to register before you get a hotel, that was a mistake they made that anyone ha yet to acknowledge. I couldn't get a hotel online last year but I was able to get one over the phone.

What exactly do you mean by direct link? You mean a link to the housing page?

Exactly. People were waiting for the "RESERVE HOTEL" link to go live but that didn't happen before the site went live, so people who already knew how to get there via the registration page were already trying to get hotels.

First Aid was marked with the traditional plus on the map.

Where is it marked?

Checking with Travelocity they have a few rooms at the Fairmont for $304/night.

Keep in mind they messed up on the online system this year; you needed to have paid for a badge to access the room booking site.

I got through on the phone after about 40 minutes, I think I was using the international line, since I'm calling from out of the country.

Best suggestion is to get he group of people you're going to share a room with and have them all call and use the website all at the same time. Get the direct link ahead of time instead of waiting for them to update the link on the main page.
