Title: Otaku game Ideas
Post by: EvilBunnyKid on December 21, 2007, 12:46:27 PM
Have a group game idea that many would be able to play?  Than post it here to get others comments!!

Be sure to keep the game for all, and that there isnt any chance that an attendee may get hurt!

Kinda got the idea from the ninja assasination game, but instead of searching for people you search for locations.

What if there are objects, or points, that are placed in secret locations and in order to find them you have to follow incoded messages given to you.  and everytime you find a place you get a password to prove that you were there and a new encoded message.  At the end once you have all of the passwords you have to then decode them, and find the prize!!  I think it sounds like fun, and I've always liked puzzles!  :P

example:  Message- if two is three, four is five, and five is six what is three?  And if you turn away from the darkness you will find a light.

example:  Message- face the mirrors and on the otherside the light will blind you, dont look at the light but be sure you look in every corrner!

example:  Message- need a drink?  Than go through many doors to find a hidden w.c.

     Get it?

What are your ideas for other games?

Oh I agree this would be a good idea. I'd be willing to help out too if needed. Maybe for the clues/puzzles, you can sometimes make them anime/manga related?

Would there need to be a theme of sorts? Or a storyline, like ramen said?

Oh. And should they be in teams, or would it be individuals?

I'd like to be the message carrier LOL
But then, you'd prolly never find a message with legs. lol

The theme can be tied into anything that has to do with Fanime, anime, manga, Japan, cosplay, ex...

Its kinda like a treasure hunt, and you can be an individual or be on a team, up to you.

I was thinking that there could be like one place where we hand out the first part of the treasure hunt, it can be a riddle or a map, or anyhting like that, and at the end of the game, if you figure out all of the clues and such, you return to the place where the game started and collect a prize.  Im thinking about having the first person or group that solves it can get a prize of sorts, that way if the game turns out to be too easy....well... I'm not the riches person in the world :P ....

Bigger or Better: This is a game that can be played for any occasion really. It works like a scavenger hunt. Players divide into teams and start with something small (i.e. paper clip, piece of string, broken pencil, lint, ect.) and have to find someone willing to trade something bigger and better than it. Then you trade that item up for something else bigger or better. When the game ends (after a set time limit) the players return and the team with the biggest and/or best thing wins! Their prize? What ever they ended up collecting in the end.

Use it, don't use it. Take it for another time. It's just a fun game I wanted to share with you. ;)

Not related to the convention, but that game was cited as the inspiration for http://oneredpaperclip.blogspot.com/

Apparently, this guy started with one red paper clip and kept trading until he ended up with a whole house in Saskatchewan.  Now, he's selling books and shows up on TV and such.

As for games, how about a contest to see who can collect the most cosplayers?  Participants need a digital camera, a photo sharing site, and Internet access.  The contestants have to take pictures of the cosplayers, upload them to a photo sharing site, and post links and character information on a thread in the forum (to coordinate the date stamp).  The person with the most photos of different cosplayers with correct character names by a certain time (maybe like at 11:59pm Tuesday after the con to give people time to go home to upload) wins.  If there needs to be a prize, it can be an online gift certificate or something.

Just think if you actually collected cosplayers. You could have a farm of your favorite characters. But on a serious note, I like the idea. I know I would participate.
