Just go west a few blocks or so.  It'll be on your right-hand side as you head west.

Quote from: "Rainbow Ichi"hmm is that the teeny shop on the 2nd floor of its building?

I don't have intention of cosplaying, but i'd like to meet new people with similar interests :) I'd probably come.

No, that's Nikaku that's the second-floor store on the east side of Japantown.  Farout Toys is in a 1st-story store closer to the west side of Japantown.

Even more interesting, we see Kagami begin her slide towards the dark side.  Too intense for you, Kagami-chan?  We'll check back on that in due time...

No pigtails, but let's just say that karma bit Akira on her bitter little ass and Sebastian got the run of the segment :D

Too bad for Sebastian that Akira's bound to recover at some point, though...

Bit of an update, but it looks like that the bonus discs on volumes 2-4 of the limited editions will have the whole series spread between the three discs, in proper broadcast order, so the issue of volume one is moot.

Page showing episode orders on the two versions

Sunday sounds good to me, as I have work on Saturdays

According to the discussion at the Bandai panel, the limited edition releases from volume 2 on will have two discs: one with episodes in chronological order, and one in broadcast order (standard releases will have just chronological order).  However, the broadcast order discs will be a tad off because both versions of volume one just had the chronological order, affecting one of the episodes involved.

Quote from: "phoenixphire24"Uh yeah, I like the fact that Fanime isn't like AX. AX is too much about the industry, and not enough about the fans.

QFT.  Besides, if I wanted to go to AX, I'd go to AX.  Let Fanime be Fanime.

AX does have good ideas and how they produced them should always be of interest to Fanime, for without expansion any event will die.

Craige...

True, Fanime should grow.  However, we shouldn't become a clone of AX in the process.

That's what we call "hotel rooms"

As posted elsewhere in the forums, they can't have people sleeping in the convention center, whether in designated areas or not.  Laws and regulations being the primary factor in this.

I keep forgetting to post in here.

Or, to look at the issue in a more simple way, you may be cosplaying for the love of the character, but it'd be nice to see that others share that love for the character as well and see that others recognize the character besides yourself.

The most common and apt way to see the two is that AX is much more of an industry convention while Fanime is more of a fan's convention.  As an industry con, AX gets the presence of the various anime & manga publishers in North America, whereas Fanime only gets a few of them to stop by.  Also, that means that AX gets more money to play around with in terms of their budget.  That means bigger facilities, more guests, bigger events, etc.  That in turn draws in more people.

However, the downside to that is that there's far less, if any, fansub showings compared to what Fanime shows.  In short, the latest and greatest that AX shows will be what the industry brings, not what can be had on the net.  Also, with AX being so big, it's easy for fans to get lost in the crowds and the con does have more of an impersonal air to it.  That's not to say that there aren't any fan activities what so ever (there are), it's just that the industry side of things is much more dominant and gets more attention.

I don't know if I'll have any luck with this or not, but I wouldn't mind another chance at chatting with the girl dressed as Belldandy at Friday's swap meet as well as in line at Masquerade.  I was dressed as Kaji from Evangelion and bought something of hers at the swap meet.  I was hoping to run into her after the masquerade or on Monday, but never got the chance. :(

Actually, they can be found right here, in the Cosplay subforum :)

I was there for all five days! :D :D :D

I just had to say that while Dieter left some pretty big shoes to fill in his departure, you filled them quite nicely.  It takes a lot to not only keep up with the typical Fanime Masquerade audience, but to give as good as you get, and that you did quite entertainingly.

Well done!

With so much going on at the con at times, there's bound to be some stuff you wish you could've done, but weren't able to.  Like catching a particular show or panel, running into someone (and not as part of an unwanted glomp, hopefully), attending an event, etc.  So here's where we can share the stuff we missed out on due to some misfortune or another, and hope for another chance next year!

As for myself...

- I wish I made the time to go to the Fanimaid Cafe.  I wanted to, but the lines were discouraging and other things kept getting my attention :(  Hopefully, it'll be bigger next year!

- Due to going to the Fanime BBS dinner, I ended up missing out on the Fans Over 30 panel, which sounded like it was fun to go to for those of us who've been in fandom for quite a while.

- I really wish I had a chance to chat up a particular female cosplayer during the con, but our paths hardly crossed after Friday's swap meet :(

- Certain shows totally slipped my mind, like the live-action Cromartie, and I ended up missing out on them :(

Anyone else with stuff they wish they had caught while at the con?
