Serious Business / Re: Earthquake
August 26, 2014, 05:28:07 PM
A little shake was all I felt ,we get these tremors when I live every year or so. Alot of lot of non Californians get scared pretty bad from the tremors I have heard. Strangely, I had an earthquake dream before it happened so I woke up a few minutes before. The south bay area is pretty far from Napa valley thank goodness so nothing too big could be felt from here. I do feel bad for thoes that live closer as I heard there was a lot a damage. I really need to get an emergency kit before one hits here again (similar to the '89 the 1908 quake.)

Hi there, I am also in the Santa Clara county area. It also happens that I don't have any cosplaying friends. I would love to have someone to cosplay with as I am usually solo. Fanime 2015 will be my 9th in a row. I have been cosplaying since 2004, but wouldn't consider myself an expert. I can definitely help you if you needed tips for anything.

Ideas and Suggestions / Re: Dance playlist?
February 22, 2014, 05:29:13 PM
I am not a fan of EDM, so me and my friends don't have any fun at the dances. I wish there was a bigger variety of DJ's, because it seems like they all play the same music which seems pointless. Not to offend, but after a while all EDM sounds the same to me and I personally can't get into it. I like R&B and pop music American & Japanese alike (m-flo, minmi, Rip Slyme)It would be nice if they had J-pop and America top 40 DJ's as well even it it was on less popular days like Friday evening.

Might as well post here~ I'll comb through the thread later to see if I have any pictures of people who have posted.

Note that I do not have Facebook, so I'd appreciate any Facebook pictures of me to be either set to public so I can view them or PMed to me. Thanks~

Friday: Julia (Cowboy Bebop)
Saturday: Ultimecia (Final Fantasy VIII); Ulala (Space Channel 5); Mom Lalonde (Homestuck)
Sunday: Lady Blackpearl (Legend of Mana); )(er Imperious Condescension (Homestuck) (I'm the one with the horns...but I think only Homestucks took my picture, so they'd know that); Rose Lalonde (Homestuck)
(also, a couple of people took my picture on Monday, but I wasn't cosplaying, so I don't really care about those, haha. I was wearing a purple chiffon skirt, a black blouse, lace tights, and my Rose wig [short and light blonde])

If anyone has any pictures, I'd really appreciate it if you could send them to me. :] Thank you!
Hey there! I remember you, I was dress as a amano-esque Rydia. Don't know if you saw these already but I'll give it a shot:http://cosplayphotographer.slickpic.com/a/Saturday10am1pm?squared
Hey! You were the one off to the side of the shoots that I talked to a lot there, right? you + your costume were gorgeous, and you were super sweet. :] I'm glad to have found you on the forums!

I have already seen all of the photos up on the slickpic, but thank you anyway for posting the link. (the picture of B helping me walk while holding my horns sums up my entire Fanimecon experience this year, haha~ people helping me with giant horns =____=)
Yes, That was me  :). I'm surprised that you even remember me, due to there being so many people at Fanime every year. I am quite flattered! Anyways, Hopefully I run into more photos later on, and I will send them to you if I find them. Those horns are just too epic to not be somewhere online......

Hi there everyone, I will try my best to express my suggestion without offending anyone. The last few years I have attended Fanime, I realized that despite having multiple dance rooms, they all play the same music. I personally am not quite fond of "EDM" type music and neither are my friends. I tried to get into the groove, but the music went from fast to slow and it had irregular rhythms that my friends and I could not really dance to. It is not to say that this is a bad thing, I just wish that there was another (even if it was tiny) room where we could dance to other music instead. Either a mix of 70's-present  American Music or just the top 100 hits from Japan and America from the last 10 years would be nice. I really don't mean to offend, and it's not that this EDM music is bad, it is just not my type of music. What do you guys think?

Althought most people don't agree with me,I think we need more j-hip hop/rap at fanime.I know people want to hear anime music, but let's be fair here, fanime usualy has pop and visual kei rock and not all people like that.At least just this one year,I really really want to see...

Music:

Monkey majik
minmi
Ai
Crystal kay
Double
Zeebra
Nujabes

manga ka:

naoko takeuchi(people will go crazy)
CLAMP

Fashion Models:

Tsubasa (popteen)
Leah Dizon
ka-tan(former egg magazine)

My question is this, do any of you know of a place where they have kick boxing classes, and preferably a ring to practice in?

Now to be more specific, Im looking specifically for a place that does kick boxing, like a place that has karate or judo and what not.  Not like gold's gym or whatever

A couple of years ago,I took night karate classes through (i think) the YMCA or one of thoes flyer thingies you get in the mail.OR you could take loop-kicks!LOL just kidding! There  are some places over by pearl ave too

You guys need to give the walk-ons some recognition too...They're soo brave to walk on stage all by themselves, and sometimes they don't have a choice to be in a cosplay group or not.Just thought I throw that in :)
