I'm Linefaced, I'll be running the SMT/Persona gathering this year since HeeroYuy135 won't be attending Fanime this year. I was also the co-runner for both gatherings last year. (My username on these forums used to be DarkenedWings, if that helps!) G-Force and I will be co-running since we've had a lot of success at running other SMT/Persona gatherings at multiple cons, and this year we're changing it up by doing a daytime photoshoot gathering and a midnight round of King's Game, date and location TBD!
Fanime will be taking group pictures during the Gathering/Event this year. If you do not want to be included in those pictures please step aside for those photos. By remaining with the group when the pictures are being taken you give your consent to be photographed.

Okay yeah after Sacanime this past weekend I am really looking forward to Fanime even though it's like over 5 months away still XD so thought i'd finally stop staring at this thread and just post!
i'll most likely be Yukiko for the gathering(s) and i'm hoping to go to both the day and night ones if i can! i remember last year when i'd just gotten into P3 my friends and i were wandering the con around midnight and i think we caught the end of the midnight gathering, so we took pictures with one of the Akihikos and a Vincent XD excited to actually be a part of it this year~

I have some improvements I need to make for Fanime, and hopefully I'll figure out something for the axe by then. =3
Depending on how things go, I might bring either Eruca from Radiant Historia or Trisha/The Midnight Venus from Catherine. I'm assuming that non-SMT Atlus games are still welcome?
I'm not sure if I'll even be bringing either of these costumes yet, since I have a ton of new cosplays on my list, but if I attend the gathering, Friday or early on Saturday would be ideal. (I'm typically fairly busy on Sundays and I'll probably spend a good chunk of Saturday afternoon getting in bodypaint for a 4PM gathering) Don't count too much on my availability when setting the times, though, since I'll probably use the timing of this gathering to help me decide if I should bring either of my Atlus cosplays.
Depending on when this ends up being I might show up as Kanji! Either winter uniform or Winter casual, undecided which i'd bring
Any updates on hopeful days or times for the gatherings (aside the obvious midnight gathering)? I'm also helping run some APH panels and with panel reg coming up soon I want to try and request times that wont clash with probably gathering times.

The Midnight Gathering usually works best on Saturday night (as in Saturday at 11:59 PM), in my experience. That's generally how we can get most people to show up since they aren't dealing with masq/packing/etc. I generally like having the day gathering on the same day, but if that's not going to work for the majority of attendees, we can change that pretty easily.
I'll go ahead and update the first post with the list of attendees/characters we have thus far. Nevermind that I'm still mostly undecided myself...
Saturday would work best for me for the day gathering, especially if it is relatively early (morning or noon, no later than 1 or so). Another gathering I am attending has changed to Sunday, so my Saturday is pretty free now, except that I would prefer to wear my FFVIII outfit during the afternoon, but that's not a huge dealbreaker.
I won't be making the midnight gathering either way...well...Midnight Venus would be appropriate, but I have too much else going on for two Atlus gatherings!
I'm currently making an Elizabeth from P3 cosplay which should be done in time for Fanime. I'd love to attend any gatherings. I've always loved seeing the midnight gathering in the past. My fiance and I tend to do our own thing at cons, so any day and time works out as long as it's not Friday before noon. :)
Ideally I'd like to make it not too early since my experience with morning gatherings is that a lot of people tend not to show up, especially if it's on a Saturday since a lot of people stay up late on Friday night, being Day 1 and all.
Would Saturday at either 12 pm or 1 pm work for everyone for the Day gathering? I'm in talks with G right now about the Midnight Gathering and potentially planning an event, more details to come...
Saturday at 12PM would be ideal for me. I may or may not be able to make it (just because I have SO MANY COSPLAYS and I'm doing Ultimecia that afternoon, which will take a lot of time to get into), but it is very likely that I can make it if it is at noon, and I'd love to come to this gathering (it's a place where someone might actually recognize a Radiant Historia cosplay!!).
Okay, running back really quickly here because I'm talking to G, and I'd like everyone's opinion. We have two options on the table:
1. Have a Midnight Gathering like usual, probably on Saturday night. This will just be another photoshoot, like it has been in past years.
2. Instead of a Midnight Gathering, G and I will file for an official event at FanimeCon, and we will all get together and host a large round of King's Game, a la Persona 4. This is something G and I have been doing at AX for the last two years, and we have a specific rule set that we've developed to keep things safe for everyone involved. We always have a lot of fun doing this, and if people would be interested, we can bring it to Fanime.
If people would really like both a Midnight Gathering AND an official round of King's Game, we can try to work it out, but I'd like to see if people would prefer one or the other since both G and I have extremely busy Fanime schedules and running three events is a lot of work for both of us.
Please, please post your thoughts on this ASAP!! If we're going to file for an official cosplayer event with Fanime we need to do it very soon, but it would guarantee us a reserved space to play around in.

I'll be cosplaying Chie again, and will definitely be at the day gathering. C: Either 12 or 1 is super great in my opinion, though I'm naturally more inclined toward the 1 o'clock. Last year, I wanted to go to the midnight gathering, but I was pretty wiped out after the day. I've never actually played King's Game outside of P4, ahaha, but it sounds like it could be pretty entertaining with some other SMT/Atlus fans! Do you know if the game would be more of a day or evening activity?
It sounds like G would like to actually just shoot for a midnight King's Game. Seems like our assigned room might be out in the Fairmont, and we think that hosting a second photoshoot and then shuffling a bunch of people down there is probably a little too much and everyone will already be up late.
Just to elaborate, the "common sense" rules we generally set up to keep things safe and contained are:
1. If you are uncomfortable with a dare you've been given you are free to opt out, and the King/Queen can pick a different dare, or a different number to participate.
2. No nudity, and nothing unsanitary (i.e. wet willies are right out.)
3. No more than five numbers involved in a dare at a time, or situations tend to get out of control.
4. No dares that involve bodily contact unless both parties consent.
We may add rules that restrict some amount of adult content depending on who shows up to play. We had a really, really creative group at AX last year who came up with all sorts of crazy things, like "Number 2 and number 5 have to do a Baywatch-style slow motion run down the hallway" or "Number 3 has to serenade number 7 with a Disney song", things like that. It's a lot of fun and makes for a really good time, I think we played for something like three hours last year.
Personally i think 12 pm for the day gathering might be better as well since i have another gathering that will most likely be in the afternoon on Saturday so hopefully i'd have enough time to change XD also doing a King's Game event sounds great! i've been curious about it after hearing about some of the King'S Game shenanigans over at AX hehe, could be fun to bring it to Fanime :D
Totally cool with either time for the day gathering, I've already set aside Sat for all my Persona shenanigans :>
I think a midnight King's Game would be good. People have the option of participating for a round and are able to go elsewhere in the hotel or outside to take photos. Not to mention the game itself would make for an interesting photo shoot.
I really, really, reaaaaally want to do a Midnight Gathering! I probably wouldn't be able to make the day gathering, but definitely the midnight one. I'll probably be the P3P girl or... I haven't decided. UvU

Okay, I think we're leaning toward 12 pm on Saturday as our meetup time. I'll be looking into available locations.
It seemed like most people I talked to wanted to do a King's Game as our Midnight Gathering, so we'll be doing that this year instead of a second photoshoot. If anyone was more interested in taking photos, you'll be free to split off and explore the Fairmont, but there won't be an official scheduled photo-based gathering at night this year. G submitted the idea to events, so we'll update this thread when we have an exact date. (It'll either be Friday night or Saturday night, hopefully!)

Hey guys!
I've been in talks with BSaphire about this gathering and unfortunately, because of time and location restrictions, we have to move the gathering to 3 pm. There will be another gathering happening at our preferred time in the area we're looking at, which is the G4/the riser stage area. It was either shift the time or take one of the tiered platforms, and having been to the convention center since its remodel, I don't think those platforms would have been enough space to accommodate everyone + photographers, especially because I highly suspect this year is going to be our biggest group ever.
Again, I'm sorry for the change and I'm sorry if this means some people can't make it.
I'm still waiting to hear back from G about our Midnight King's Game event, so I'll be sure to update this thread again when he lets me know what's up.

Hey folks G here, thought I'd shoot an update over.
As of right now chances look slim for us to have Kings Game at the Fairmont due to schedual and room size. I have no final answer but antisipate having all the events stay within the Fanime con center.
For people who haven't been to our events I just want to say that the midnight gathering is sort of a "makeup" gathering where we go through the normal patterns of the afternoon gathering with a heavier emphasis on socialzing at the end. King's Game has been hugly popular and you do not have to come dressed in cosplay to partisipate. If you're sitting on the fense to attend or not because your outfit is not super comfortable, let that bit of info give you peace of mind.

As G said, the chances of us getting a whole separate room for King's Game is looking increasingly slim, so I just shot a message to BSaphire and asked her about available spaces where we won't cause fire hazards. If we can't get one, we'll likely just hold a photoshoot like usual, and hang around afterward if people feel like it.

We have an official space for our round of King's Game, conveniently located in the same spot as our Day Gathering. The Midnight Gathering will be happening on Saturday night at 11:59 pm, in location G4!
Please, please, please let us know if you will be showing up and how many people will be with you, since I will need to prepare the numbered chopsticks before this event. Depending on how many people show up, we may have to play in teams or something similar.
Hey, I have a question about the location of the gathering. Where is it exactly? (the link to your map is not working. I also got a glimpse of it way before, but the layout looks different from the map shown on the convention site)
This is my first Fanime so I'm not familiar at all with the layout of the con. (so the G4 label doesn't help me much) >_<
Whoa, sorry about that! Should be fixed now, I'm just terrible at forum coding.
The convention center has undergone a ton of renovations since last year, so the layout is considerably different than in 2012. Basically, G4 is on the first floor of the center, if you're in the lobby you go straight ahead between the two staircases, and (from what I understand) there will be a large open area. I wouldn't worry too much, as long as you get to the general vicinity we should probably be easy to spot, we usually have quite a number of cosplayers that show up each year.
Hooray! An SMT Cosplay Gathering! I can't wait for this one! There seems to be a lot of Persona cosplay's this year! I have quite a few costumes that I would want to bring, but I think at this point it will probably be either Raidou Kuzunoha XIV from Devil Summoner or Minato from Persona 3. I want to be able to attend both gatherings, but I might be a tad late to the day meet because I am running a panel that ends at 3pm.
And though it's not really related to the gathering, per say, I am also going to be running a Shin Megami Tensei panel on Sunday Morning at 9am with my Panel Group, The Arizona Midnight Channel (I wonder where we got that name) and I would love to see the support from as many SMT fans as we possibly can!

HEY QUESTION for any of you guys.
So it seems that my friend may not be able to make it to Fanime (and she's the one that booked our hotel--whole 'nother rant), and she was also going to be my handler for my costumes.
If you guys don't already know, I'll be cosplaying a Stray Sheep (Catherine) and the Reaper (Persona 3,4), both of which I CANNOT see well. >_>; My question is, would anybody be so kind to help me around? Since we are cosplaying from the same series (any Catherine cosplayers for Friday?), I figure I'd just be an addition to you or your group.
If I can't find anyone, then I'm afraid I won't be able to cosplay these at all. >_>;

Also it would still be awesome if someone could accompany me in my sheep and reaper costumes. I CANNOT see in them and absolutely need a handler. I do have a friend of mine than can help, but I don't want her to be chained to me all weekend (esp. since we're not even cosplaying from the same series). I figure if any of your are from the same series, I hope it's cool if I can have some assistance. ^^'

I'm afraid I can't fill the spot since I'll be trying to run the show, but you might want to clarify: do you mean you need a handler for just the gathering, a day, or the whole weekend? The likelihood of finding someone for the latter two is probably fairly low, Fanime's usually an incredibly busy con for people who are running around doing multiple costume changes per day/attending a bunch of events, and especially on Saturday and Sunday. You could try offering to comp them lunch or something in exchange, but I know most cosplayers have a lot going on over the weekend.

Well I'm going to be the sheep on Friday (probably late afternoon) and the Reaper on Saturday (probably morning till after the day gathering). I'm down with giving free lunch or coffee for anyone is willing to help me out. I figure I can just cosplay the length of the time the person or group is cosplaying from either series. (As long as it's not like....just two hours or something...I'm only used to cosplay one thing per day. O_o; ). I also have no set plans, so all I'm really going to do is run around the con in my costumes.
So basically I may need someone to help me out Friday and Saturday. I'm open to making new friends too. >3<
Well I am new to this forum, but I am planning to do a simple Izanagi cosplay this year, however I am lacking boots, if anyone doesn't mind me walking around in dress shoes as a temporary =w=. I do have a weapon and mask to cope with the missing boots though! When is the gathering?
I'll probably be attending the daytime gathering as Takemikazuchi(Robot Skeleton Lightning Bolt).

QwQ Ahahah, well, this explains how most people knew about the gathering beforehand. I was directed there by Elizabeth (thank you very much and you look wonderful in that cosplay ;w;--and those tarot cards are, to put it colloquially, legit). That was really fun. :> I was one of the many Minato Arisatos/MProtag/Makoto-something at the daytime gathering.
You all looked amazing! My camera exploded with pictures (taken at unfortunately horrible angles--ack, shortness. XAX)

Had a fun time at the gathering! (again, I was The Reaper)
Sorry if I bumped/hit/kicked into anyone or make anyone feel awkward (I've noticed all my "scary" costumes tend to do that. Haha). As I've said before, I really could not see very well in that costume and the mask was blocking all the blood flow in my face. That's why I had to leave early (wish I could've stayed longer!). Hopefully next time I'll modify that costume so it doesn't kill me! T-T

I met a few of during the gathering, and you all and your personalities and silliness really made it a very fun gathering that I'll remember for a long time. C: I'd love to see any/all of you again, hopefully next Fanime or any other con!

Hey folks your Beary Wonderful host here.
Want to personally thank everyone who showed up to the gathering and DOUBLE thanks to all the people who showed love to the less popular characters and I apologize that I didn't get you in as many shots as you should be. We're still trying to do our best on thinking of ways to get the characters on the floor outside of calling people by series and as you can see we've got more work ahead of us.
With that said, I just wanna say you guys are AWESOME supportive and coopertive. Everyone was having a good time, cheering and staying energized. You can seriously feel the love in the group and I feel honored that you trust our team to oraganize these events year after year. Also don't forget to thank Pulseline when you see them, those folks are responsible for organizing the threads, monitoring the FB page and passing out/making King's Game sticks. They do all the hardwork, I'm just the front man.
We're going to be at AX where another person will be in charge of the Afternoon gathering. However I've been asked to organize AX King's Game so if you want to continue the embarassing antics stay tuned.

Hi everyone! Just sticking my head in long enough to thank you all for two successful gatherings this year. I really appreciate everyone who was super patient during King's Game, we had a LOT more players than we expected but I think given that, it went pretty smoothly.

I had a blast at the gathering, even if i did accidentally bruise my knees crawling away from the kanji teddie shoot haha. didnt know the ground was that hard.
I had a friend of mine using ym camera to snap a ton of pictures so once i sort through them ill be uploading them to my photobucket and posting a link here! should be up within the week since i only have night shifts and plenty of time to go through and upload stuff. Heres to hoping i can make it to AX for a short while to attend the gathering, well see about staying for the kings game since ill just be commuting for a day or 2.
