Don't know if anyone will see this and/or be interested, but I'm trying to organize meetups for anime/gaming/Japanese culture fans outside of Fanime.  The first one is scheduled for July 11th at 12:30 at San Francisco Japantown.  Let me know if you want to come over =).  http://www.meetup.com/Bay-Area-Anime-and-Gaming/events/223563221/

Room availability at the San Jose Garden Hotel.
I know the Fanime 2015 rooms were brutally massacred before most people actually got a hold of one,
so I'm just giving a temporary heads up that there's been some availability at the San Jose Garden Hotel for the past few days.
[I've been going back every now &then to check if it's still there.]
For anyone who needs it.

Have to say I'm a little surprised rooms are available without having to be on the waiting list.  Then again, most people were booking rooms at the farther hotels and then waitlisting for places like the Fairmont/Marriott.  Still, looks like a good deal if you haven't booked yet and don't want to pay out the nose for a room.  And actually, that kind of makes me wonder if people have been able to move up to the Fairmont/Hilton since it logically follows that after booking at the Garden Hotel and waitlisting for a closer place, that those individuals got their preferred rooms, and then cancelled their old reservations.  If that's true, I'm a bit shocked that so many were able to move up, but glad people got their preferred rooms.  Fanime really needs to use a different system for hotel booking in the future, though.  Think it's become quite clear that CMR simply can't handle it anymore with how much the convention has grown the last few years.  It shouldn't take 2 hours and a splitting headache just to hope that you'll get a good room.

Registration / 2-Person Group Registration?
January 25, 2015, 11:22:49 AM
Think I asked this question before, but forgot the answer.  Anyway for 2007-2013 it was an option to create a group registration with only two people.  This was great for me and my roommate since I could grab our memberships while they got our stuff in the room.  When 2014's convention rolled around , even though groups of two were not available at first, registration staff let us have the option of creating them a couple months before the con.  This year, groups of two have not been offered, but I'm wondering if staff has any intention of letting us combine registrations like they did last year.  Any chance this will happen?  If not, then just do pre-registration pick-up like last year where we only have a 5 minute wait, and that will be good too =).

General Convention Discussion / Ramen?
May 03, 2014, 05:23:27 PM
I read in a previous thread some time ago that there is a ramen vendor inside the con.  It sounded like they were talking about someone besides Asian Food Grocer (who sold instant ramen and other snacks 24/7 in the food court last year).  Does anyone know if there is a ramen vendor besides AFG inside the building?  If so, where are they?  How much on average did it cost?  Or was the person most likely talking about AFG's instant stuff?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi, everyone!  Sorry if this is a dumb question, but despite going to Fanime since 2007 I've never been to the Maid Cafe and would like to try it out.  That being said, where exactly is it located?  Also, how pricey is the food?

Big Event Showcase / Ways of dancing at B&W Ball?
May 14, 2011, 08:05:15 PM
You'll have to forgive me if this is a stupid question, but despite this being my 5th Fanime I've never gone to the ball before. I was wondering, if you don't know the classic dances and likely can't make it to the con's lessons, is it okay to dancer however you like as long as it isn't raunchy and doesn't disturb others?  Again, sorry if it's a stupid question, but I've never gone before and want to make sure I'm following all the rules. Thanks so much in advance!

Hotel and Facilities / $50 Hilton fee?
January 26, 2011, 10:11:37 PM
Hi, this will be my first time staying at the Hilton for Fanime, and I heard that there's a possible $50 fee regarding how clean you leave the room.  Can someone who stayed at the Hilton last year please tell me if this is simply a waiver?  If needed I can bring a camera and take pictures of the room to prove my roommate and I didn't make a mess in there.  Thanks!
