To be honest, I doubt the powers that be at Fanime will ever listen to its fans. "For fans, by fans." What a joke.

Every year, the option of mailed badges is brought up and shot down with the quickness.  EDC tickets are $200+, come with a lot of extra goodies, and are mailed out.  PAX tickets cost more and are mailed out.  Others have expressed their willingness to pay a premium to have their badges mailed out, but staff doesn't care.

Last year's registration fiasco was enough to make me NOT want to pay for a badge this year, and I'm glad I didn't.  I had friends wait 7+ hours in line on Day 0, and others wait similar times the morning of Day 1.  This is inexcusable.

When it comes to the registration process, no let me say this about Fanime as a whole, the staff needs to stop being so damned lazy.  Back when the hotel blocks opened, the staff messed up bad when they posted the wrong link on the website, and the correct one on Twitter and Facebook. This is extremely inconsiderate for those who may have been in school, where social networking sites could be blocked.  Also, staff didn't announce any special guests or anything like that until a few weeks before the con started.

There needs to be major changes.

I didn't get a badge this year because of last year's experience, and had a feeling this year was going to be on-par, if not worse.  My suspicions were validated by feedback I received from friends when my girlfriend and I came to hang out with some friends.

It's always brought up every year, but what are the logistics behind not being able to mail badges out.  EDC mails their ticket packages out and an EDC ticket is 3-4X the cost of a Fanime badge.  Granted the money numbers are drastically different between the two events, but honestly, if you're just mailing the badge and a couple other pieces of literature, you'll only have to pay for First-Class Mail and, for security reasons, Signature Confirmation.  I don't want to speak for a mass of people, but if you were able to mail my badge to me, I would have no qualms against paying a premium for a mailed badge over one that requires 7 hours of waiting in line to receive.

My GF and I play TF2 almost every night. Add me -- Steam name: We're having soft tacos later!

Seriously, that's my current Steam name.

What would the meetup consist of? I mean, I'm alumni from Omicron Zeta chapter, but I really don't know what an AphiO meetup would do. Especially since it's a "dry" frat. Well, it's technically not if no one wears their letters.
Wait really?!
Yup. RJH (Fall 2001) class alumni. I don't think I'm in the alum list because I dropped out of the school the quarter after I got activated. Either that, or the class list was made during Winter quarter, which I didn't attend.

If you're interested in running at T-hill, keep an eye out for GDS events. https://www.facebook.com/GripDriftSkid?fref=ts

Their next event is June 14th.

If you really want to hit the touge, there's Calaveras Rd, but it's also a little far from the con. If you plan on doing it during the weekend nights, there will be drifters. Just sayin'

What kind of car you drive? Lol I drive a Mazda rx8 street ported, greddy turbo at 9psi, and I'm set for the track. Lol I'm down for a touge but I'd rather waste coins than gas lmao.
You have this supposed car but you're not old enough to get into a hookah lounge? Did your parents pay for your car?

Do you mind if me and another friend hookah with y'all? I mean we're not old enough to get into a hookah lounge but if you smoke that ganja/weed well gladly share.
How about no? You say you can't get into a hookah lounge, so you're admitting that you're not at least 18 years old. I'm not about to get arrested for letting a minor use my hookah.

And you have publicly admitted you're going to bring weed to the con. I'm not anti-marijuana at all, but that's just something you don't do in this forum.

stay with someone. I would not recommend walking alone. shit goes down in downtown! be smart! be safe!
You're overreacting. The general vicinity around the con center is safe as long as you stick to the sidewalks. If you have to venture closer to SJSU, you may be in trouble. But all you have to really do is walk with a purpose.

What are the thoughts on maybe going to 4th St Pizza? They have pizza by the slice for the hungry, a full bar, and beers are reasonably priced.

Meetings, Gatherings, and Get Togethers / Re: Hookah!

I can't speak for anyone else who may join, but my hookahs will always only be used for tobacco. This will remain true for Fanime, that's IF there's enough interest.

Relax. It's safe. Just don't walk in the park. Stick to the sidewalks and you'll be fine.

Hotel and Facilities / Re: Parking?

I've posted this a couple times, but here goes again.

I can personally vouch for this because I did this last year. If you plan on leaving Monday, then I would park at the parking garage where Psycho Donuts is. Since Monday is a holiday, parking is free. If you park Thursday, Friday, etc., and leave Monday, you will not have to pay anything when you leave since the parking gates will be left up.

V What is your personal worst moment of Fanime 2012, aside from badge pick-up. If you didn't attend last year, then worst con moment.

Please no Gangnam Style. I have a feeling it'll be played enough in the games room with Just Dance and Dance Central

I'd like to commission you for a Chespin and a Fennekin. Please PM me when you get a chance. Thanks!

Deodorant won't help those people who don't shower. I know there are people who don't get a room for the con and pretty much stay at the con center all weekend. If you're gonna do that, at least try to make a friend and see if you can use their shower. Come on, bad sanitary practices are bad. And that's just nasty...
