Hotel and Facilities / Fanime 2012 housing, Marriott

Just a question about Marriott for 2012, did Fanime already have a discounted offer earlier last year?  Tried to reserve on Marriott's website but it said it was booked.

Oh, I don't doubt the Fairmont, I agree absolutely.  They have a wonderful and beautiful lounge too ~ I used to work around there.  It would be a lot easier to roll your stuff from one elevator down because lugging all that stuff Thursday at swap meet would be a little more optimal .. To carry the stuff (depending how much you have) is really difficult moving it by myself.  Mmm.. Oh yeah, swap meet is first come first serve on Thursday rushing it in, picking it all up again. If it was Fairmont, I'd have to pick up all my stuff and at night, put it into a rental van, when it's over and drive back.  Parking also costs moolah.I think it would be easier and safer to just roll stuff upstairs.

Hi All,

I was wondering if we have the chance to change hotels later on in the future?  I really wanted to book with Marriott since I booked with them last year.  Marriott says if you had stayed with them, along the way there is a free room after ten or so stays.    Last year, Fanime had a waitlist for a specific hotel, but I don't know if the same idea is applied this year

Please let me know about this as soon as possible.  I booked at Fairmont, but I'm not really interested in staying there, since it's kinda not connected with the hotel.  I'd really love to have a smooth transition to bring stuff downstairs from swap meet over on Thursday and Friday.

Thanks for your trouble,

Hello Everyone,

The Japanese Art and Cultural Center will have a Halloween party from 1:00 to 4:00 PM.  We need some volunteers to help the kids (and adults!) get face painting. We also need some brushes donated to us too.   There is a Halloween Cosplay Competition from 1 - 2 PM for the best costume.  The prizes are donated from Mitsua, Kinokuniya, Clover Bakery, and most of the Japanese restaraunts in the area.

Please support the Japanese Art and Cultural Center.  We are a non-profit organization.  We are in dire need for some students.  We have barely any students on Wednesdays and Fridays.   I help volunteer for the Anime and Manga class on Wednesdays at 4, and now Fridays at 4.  We are good with the Saturday class.   If we do not get enough people who can attend the class, unfortunately, we would have to shut the class down on the weekdays.

I hope this message gets to people, and that it is part of your Cultural Center too.  Let's please support this, and take advantage of helping out, for the sake of keeping the center alive.

Warm Regards,

Hello All,

There is an open house free demonstration at 10 AM at the Japanese Art and Cultural Center.  We are offering 50% off on certain classes this date, so please come by!  I will be handing out free sketches!

« on: September 17, 2010, 06:36:29 PM »
Hi There!

I'm one person who's a Santa Clarian, and welcome!

Hi All,

I'll be attending and have a booth at the Tsuchiura Festival in Palo Alto California!  Here is some additional information:

There are two contests for Manga Art and Cosplay.  There are 3 levels:

Level 1: K - 5th Grade
Level 2: 6th - 8th Grade
Level 3 9th Grade - 12th Grade.

It's free to enter, and Drawing must be on 9X12 drawing paper. Palo Alto residents only [sorry!]

Cosplayers don't have a specific age group, and the winners should be announced at 12:45. and you don't have to be a Palo Alto Resident!   Please come by!

Here are the forms online:

There are 25 days left until the contest ends.  If you know any schools, please let them know about this.  I'll be attending and helping out and giving free sketches at the festival!  The prizes will be awesome, since I'll be donating some prizes [I'm not giving any hints hehe]  Good luck!  We would really like to see a lot of cosplayers and grade school kids enter the Anime / Manga contest!

Meetings, Gatherings, and Get Togethers / Help with this Dance?
« on: June 13, 2010, 06:47:17 PM »

I never ask help from anyone, but I am kind of in need to have someone help me coordinate these steps with me.

I'm not great at performing myself, however, I'm doing this to help a great friend.

After everyone is all rested up and stuff, I would like to thank the people who attended my panel.  I was having a cold and stuff, but I worked through it.

Just wanted to say thanks again, and God Bless!

General Anime Chat / The most popular Pokemon of 2010?
« on: May 21, 2010, 08:37:33 PM »

From what I had gathered from friends and shop owners, these are the most popular Pokemon that kids like:

1) Gizamimi Pichu
2) Pikachu
3) Piplup [Japan]
4) Shaymin
5) Girutina
6) Pichu
7) Arceus

Am I on the right track?

A lot of people are getting into Black Butler and Pandora Hearts is getting extremely popular, not to mention Hatsune Miku as the top icon.
