Title: Selling Magic Cards - Pricing?
Post by: FanFicGuru on May 24, 2011, 09:40:24 AM
So I have a ton of magic cards I wanted to sell, and this was my idea for pricing:

commons: 10/$1 or 60/$5
uncommons: 5/$1 or 30/$5
rares: Price determined by channelfireball.com, buy 4 rares and get the 5th free (free card of equal or lesser value than cheapest bought rare. example: you buy a $10, $7, and two $5 rares, you get a 5th rare that is $5 or less free)

Does this sound fair?

Sounds good to me. ;D Except you might want to see what commons you have before you finalize that price. Some commons are as low as 2 cents.

True, but I figured that some commons are also worth upwards of .25-1.00 that I have, so it balances out. :)

Oh well that works out  :) Are you up for trades? I don't know if that's allowed, but if it is and you're up for it I am too.

I appreciate the offer but no thanks. I'm going to be moving and I won't have much need for my magic cards going forward, so I'm just trying to get them sold off. :)

I assume we do this the same way as we do with YGO.
Check Ebay. At least for specific cards which are valuable in the Metagame.
I cannot tell you how many cards I've seen at Swap Meet selling for WAAAAAAAY over price.

Honestly I have upwards of 1000 commons and 500 uncommons. Since I won't have internet access for very long because I can't access power with my laptop, there's no way that I can price check all of them, not to mention the logistical nightmare of getting exact prices down to the penny. I just price checked the rares. I got a sampling of my common and uncommon prices and so I established a general purchase price. If people want to complain about 10/$1 or 60/$5 commons maybe we could work something else out, but honestly it would be quabbling over pennies, literally.

I might, MIGHT go down to 20 commons/$1 and 10 uncommons for $1. But we'll see.

They range from Kamigawa through New Phyrexia. :) I'll be there tonight. Look for a guy wearing an "I'm just a shy guy" T-shirt with a Mario shy guy on it.
