My Co-head came up with a great idea for your panel title today, and I liked it.

How about: Pokemon DS Cafe

Adding in the console makes it more clear that you ought to bring your DS with you, and perhaps people won't be expecting food if the title focuses attention on the game system? :)

Ah! Brilliant! I love it :] thank you, that should help out with the confusion.

yeah, that's kinda what I wanted to do last year, but I only had a two-hour time slot and so was afraid that if I got people involved in something more time consuming (capture-the-flag, Beauty Contest, Battle Tower etc.) I would get shut down before they got to finish :[

This year I'm going to ask for more time, and that way people can come and go or stay and do everything :]

I'm glad you're interested, and thank you for the suggestions!!

I hope they offer suites for Marriott like last year.

i guess the best bet would just be to call them. ask how they're doing their upgrades/if the hotel can beat the fanime rate.

i would definitely prefer 11; especially since friday night is move-in night, i will most likely be sleeeeeeping in on saturday. xD

but i'll be there either way; who sleeps at cons >>;

There is usually always a HUGE FF gathering; they should be posting up a board sometime soon.
If you follow that board, they should tell you when/where FFVII should be held.

I cosplayed Lucrecia Crescent from Dirge of Cerberus the past couple years; the gatherings were fantastic :]

I'll be there as Makomo (Professor Juniper's assistant) from Black and White~!

Well, it's official, Hilton has no available suites for Fanime this year, so it's up to either the Marriott or Fairmont.
Fairmont has two suite types available, the Signature Suite (3 person, $231/night) and the Executive Suite (4 person, $224/night).

Hope that helps!

it was ironic, because I had called the hotel out of frustration with the fact hotel reg wasn't up (I admit, I'm impatient and wanted info right away) and wasn't expecting to log on to the forum to find out that hotel reg was up.

i respect your agitation, though.

Marriott and Hilton fill up fastest, usually within 2 or 3 weeks. Fairmont is one of the last because of the proximity, but it is a really classy place. I'd say you've got a month before people start filling up the Fairmont.

Just look out for single days filling up. Say you need a room Thursday - Monday, if you wait too long they might be booked full for just Friday or Saturday.

Fairmont doesn't usually fill up until the last month or so, for that very reason- Marriott and Hilton (Hilton especially) do fill up first- and fast. Though the whole "connected to con" thing is really overrated with Fanime; the Fairmont is down the street, like a minute's walk away, and is one of the most beautiful hotels i've ever stayed in. Plus you don't have to deal with waiting 5+ minutes for the stupid elevator.

ironic, i was JUST calling Fairmont about this like ten minutes ago. i love you, forum.

Panels and Workshops / Pokemon Cafe~!
January 13, 2011, 01:12:58 PM
Hello everyone~!

I know event info for 2011 hasn't been posted yet, but I'm willing to host Pokemon Cafe again this year, to recap all the events in HeartGold, and to celebrate the release of Black/White!!

Just wanted to throw a board out there to see who else is interested, and what requests for events I can get from the forum. Last year I did a casual open-forum event, where the fans just got together in groups and did whatever, but I want to know if anyone wants more of an organized event, tournaments, etc.

Post here and let me know!

i knew we should have paid for more than two colours.

it's cool, i'll only a PA and i used to be an intern- right now they hire me out on the occasional event. but it was fun working in the industry :]

if you really want to work in media, i would highly suggest studying communications and/or business. being the brains behind the operation is a lot more interesting imo- and more lucrative haha

haha we all met up on the risers and then ended up outdoors, it worked out pretty well :]
