I'm a bit late with getting on here to reply, and many thanks to fullmetalneko for keeping up with this better than I have. Wanted to reply to a few things here:

The Melty Blood panel that was on and then removed was cancelled by the panelist. As I recall, something came up last minute and so they had to cancel their plans for the panel. We'll be sure to try and contact them this year and let them know there was at least some interest in their panel on the boards and ask if they'd like to try again. ^-^

I can't vouch for their expertise in the game, but I'll definitely make sure we ask what kind of things they intend to do in the panel and perhaps refer them to the comments made in the board for ideas and tips.

The cosplay panels we had this last year were very popular, and we're definitely hoping to have them back, and to have more panels aimed at cosplay if we can get them.

There -are- plans to have more than one dance workshop this year. I won't say more than that right now, because I'm not sure how much the people planning it have said publicly. However, this is definitely in the works.

A panel on masquerade skits sound fabulous to me. Know anyone willing to design and put on one? I'm less sure about having them perform on Stage Zero, but it's worth considering.

Ahhh! I have some friends who are into amtgard. I'd love to see a panel on it. We have possible plans to have a boffer room this year, so maybe we could work something out regarding that if you're really interested in putting it on. I'm not yet certain if those plans will work out, so we'll see.

We had a lot of requests for more Yuri content this year, so a Yuri panel is a possibility. Depending on the content of the panel, you might need to make it an 18+ late night panel though. Have any ideas on what exactly you'd want to do?

Damn You Internets is definitely coming back. =) I think they've already got a web page up where they're brainstorming for ideas, and we've already discussed scheduling for them.

I haven't contacted Broccoli yet, but we're definitely inviting them to come back again.

The Japanese panels sound great - and you might even want to talk to tabletop games and see if they'd like to have a game or two at the con, perhaps after your panel sometime.

I do believe we had plans to have someone from Red vs Blue here last year and they cancelled out because something came up. We'd definitely love to have them back again and will be trying to make that happen.

Keep the ideas coming! The panel request forms should be going up on the website soon. ^-^

Quote from: "G.S. LXVIII"I want a DDR/In The Groove/Stepmania with pads panel in which people can learn how to play. Free practice sessions would be nice.

Anything to stop people from re-centering their feet after every step :evil:
Hmmm. Something like that might be a tad difficult to set up in a panel room. If we get the games in the arcade though, and someone wanted to set up an event for teaching tips and how-to's in the arcade, that might work perhaps?

Quote from: "CompyFranko"Free internet?  Hmm, if I could hook up a wireless router, we could have pokemon wi-fi battles...
why would we need to have wifi battles when we're all in the same place? couldn't we just do wireless DS to DS?

Quote from: "Kava"From what it sounds like, you're only definitely going on Saturday, and -maybe- on Sunday? Since the weekend pass would be $55, and one-day passes are $30 each for Sat. and Sun. I'd probably recommend just getting the weekend pass. It'll save you $5 for the second day, and that way you won't have to stand in line at registration again on Sunday.

C'mon... you -know- you wanna go both days. Besides... the masquerade is on Sunday this year. =)

yay! Thanks for the advice :D *glomps*

D: I don't think I can go to that masquerade :( I got no classy clothes, and I can't stay in the evening, as i need my rest for work the following day.
The masquerade isn't a fancy dress event. It's where the cosplayers put on skits and things. It's the biggest event of the con though. I think it's going to start around 7 or 8, if I remember correctly, so unless you want to leave really early, you could still catch at least some of it and make it home to bed in time for sleep before work the next day.

If you need to leave early though, there's still a lot of events going on in the daytime on Sunday. The panels schedule is pretty much packed for daytime on both Saturday and Sunday, in addition to things like video, stage zero, dealers hall, etc.

We'll have a few panels on Friday as well, but none starting before 2pm. Friday is traditionally a somewhat slow day, as people are still arriving, but there will definitely be stuff going on. ^-^

QuoteThe master schedule should be up Friday, I believe.

Will it be easy to read?
Because the Video schedule so far, ummmmmmmm.
*Grabs a magnifying glass*
It's quite lovely. Much much better than last year's schedule. ^-^ Definitely much easier to read.

Quote from: "sailordumb"I always find it amusing how everyone gets into the conflict of buying weapons like swords and what not in the dealers room, but then once they go outside, they aren't allowed to carry it around with them, because it is a weapon, and for the not dangerous ones, or almost realistic looking ones, they have to get it tagged or whatever by con-ops.  I wonder, what do people do, if they are only at the con for one day, have no room, or dont know anyone with a room, and got to the con via public transportation?  If I were to just buy a $150 sword, I would not want to put it down anywhere.
My suggestion would be: a) wait until the end of the convention to buy it, till you're ready to leave. b) ask the dealer to hold it for you, with your name on it... (make sure to hold onto your receipt) until you are ready to go.

In most cases though, I believe the dealers package them such that they can be carried. Ie: In boxes, secured, etc. Most things, as you said, can also be secured by Rovers, and then be carried around at the con.

Panels and Workshops / Dollfie workshop
May 15, 2007, 06:42:23 AM
Ahh... I'm sorry folks, but the posts saying that there would be a dollfie panel are from last year, not this year. Maybe next year we can have them again if they're willing to come.

I don't know who that is that posted being happy about them coming again, but perhaps they were a bit confused and forgot to check post dates. ^^;

There's no dollfie panel on the schedule for this year.

You probably can't just ask for and get one at-con because of the engravings and such... they probably only make them after they've been ordered. That would be my guess anyways.

Quote from: "MPLe"We had an area for free internet last year :P
Yeah, there will be an internet cafe somewhere, which I believe will have free wifi access.

*waves at MB* Didn't know you'd be coming to this con. ^-^

I wasn't even able to connect to Metro-Fi in the meeting rooms. It failed me utterly. Half the time my laptop won't even detect it, and when it does, it won't connect to it and gives an error message.  :evil:

Just wondering if there's going to be any other twitterers at FanimeCon this year. xD; So far, I'm failing to get most of my friends signed up. >>;;

(If you don't know what it is... check out http://www.twitter.com - it's basically an instant notification service that works via phone (texting), web, or IM, and everyone 'following' you gets your messages, and you get all the messages from anyone you're following.)

Well... I obviously should have had a forum account a long time ago... ^-^;;

Since a lot of these suggestions weren't able to be used this year for various reasons, I'll have to make a note of them for next year.
