I live in downtown SJ so SanFran isnt bad for me.  San Jose has some sweet meeting places too though.

*scratches head*  I havent been to the TapX in a long time, Ill have to check it out or maybe get peoples to meet down here...

I know it's a long shot, but Im hoping there are some good hearts among the Fanimaniacs out there.

I lost a plastic bag (sort of yellow/green color).  It had:

1)  A Blue and White speckled hat with kitty ears
2)  A Black and White Checkered Tie (which I was attempting to return to a friend when my bag went missing)
3)  An old 2.1mp digital camera (HP Photosmart 320 with little sticker residue on the front)

None of these items are valuable to anyone really, except for me.  I lost them on Sunday night somewhere between the Easter Convention Center Balcony, the video rooms, or the gaming hall.  If anyone can help me get them back, I will reward with cashy money and/or anime stuff.

I'm working on a Mousse costume right now!  I'll do my damndest to be there

I cosplayed for the first time at Fanime 2k7 and it was the most fun I've had at Fanime.  I'm looking to put even more into it for 2k8.  Ive gotten very interested in mask making and was looking for any and all crafting pointers (i.e. recommended materials, sculpting & painting techniques, etc.)  I seem to remember some sort of liquid latex-style substance that was good for masks, but I do not remember what it's called.  Any input is greatly appreciated, and I'll see you there.

I was the only Lillith from Evangelion.
I sought subjects for instrumentality.

I had a 85% drama-free Fanime (a new record!)  I was there from Thursday night (Vol Badge 0001 baby!) all the way to closing ceremonies... which I have never been able to go to because it breaks my thrice-damned heart every time the con ends...)

First off, props to every single person who noticed and supported my first EVER cosplay attempt at a con.  I was Lillith from Evangelion.  Every single one of you made me love this con more than ever! *hugs, kisses, and glomps*

The crew at Story Story Dai for putitng up with my need to overact!   Any of you can PM, EMail, or msg me, you were awesome!  Props to you all and next time we'll get more of em pulled in!

To the girl dressed as a witch at the Black & White ball, for waiting until after our dance to ask about the man behind the mask.  And for just letting me ramble a bit...

My final prop goes to the Narutards, for hanging out in the common areas in grenade formation.   :twisted:  

1)  I wish I had dressed as Gendo this year so I could get up and dance during ReDeath

2)  I wish I had finished my AMV in time to be submitted.

3)  I wish I had taken my Lillith (from Evangelion) costume up on stage during Masquerade this year (I hear the drunken Ritsuko was pretty funny)

4)  I wish I had gone to the Masquerade, as they picked the one year I didnt go NOT to suck, apparently.

5)  I wish that I didnt have to go home...especially after meeting some of the women.

The friend im tryin to keep in touch with.  It's not an obsession, but it is my curse to find awesome people to hang out with at Fanime and then loose touch with them.

Ok, I would way like to hang out with the people I was on stage with for the Story Story Dai improv event on Friday.  I was the guy with the grey fleece kitty hat who improvised Gendo booting Shinji into the pool.

I feel this qualifies as needing a separate thread.  I was camera-less for half of Fanime but a couple of people took pictures of me.  Ill toss a shot of my face in there for the hell of it.  I was the tall volunteer guy wandering about with an umbrella and a dark blue kung-fu uniform.  Heres a pic from last year.



If you have a pic with me in it please hook me up!  I know its vain but im hopeful.

On a separate note, Im still fairly new to the west coast (from Chicago originally) and am always looking for new peoples to hang with, game with, keep me in touch with new anime to be addicted to, etc.  If we hung out and I amused you, let me know!

Can anyone tell me what the policy on swords is? Is it like the CA RenFaire, where it's a 1/16th inch edge? Or no edge? Or no swords? Gah! Must know for costume planning...

You got it right in 3 my friend.  The policy continues no metal blades of ANY kind.  Although if you do foam with a metal (cylindrical pole) center that seems to be okay.  What kind of sword are you thinking?

Ive been wondering on the same front.  A model enthusiast friend of mine bought one of the chinese style wooden swords from Armorgeddon, sanded off the finish, primered and panted the blade a very realistic metallic, then gave it two clearcoat finsh to produce a VERY realistic looking, but con legal blade.  Perhaps that could work for you?
